“How dare you talk to me in that tone! I am your mother,” Mrs Clark said angrily.
“Mother? My mother isn’t a mistress,” Rhiannon retorted coldly making Mrs Clark speechless.
“Sir, madam. I checked my mom’s jewels two weeks ago and they were all there. I am so positive that there is a place where she has hidden them. Why don’t you search the house? I know that the mansion is so big and it would take a lot of time but with my bodyguards, I believe that everything will go smoothly,” Rhiannon said.
She understood that Octavius didn’t want anyone to know his identity and also, he didn’t want her father to know that he was so rich that he couldn’t use the latter. She had no problem with it and opted to act along with him.
“What! How can they search the house without a permit? Rhiannon, don’t you think that you are crossing the line?” Mr Clark asked angrily.
Rhiannon’s eyes turned cold and chuckled.
“Crossing the line? Who is crossing the line here? Your precious daughter took my jewels when she saw that I was gone. Did she think that I would leave things that my mom bought for me, some I bought for myself and some aunty bought for me to her? Where the hell did you get such a shameless family from? The daughter takes my belongings while your wife takes my mom’s belongings. Instead of standing on the truth side, you opt to side with the mistress so that she can keep my mom’s belongings. Don’t you have shame?”
Mr Clark was so shocked when he heard her words and realized that Rhiannon had indeed changed.
“Miss, what Mr Clark said is the truth. We can’t search the house without a permit or the owner's permission. Since we don’t have a permit, we can only search if the owner allows us to. But from the way they are speaking, I don’t think that they would agree to your request,” the policewoman said causing the Clark couple relieved.
‘That’s right! If they go back to get a permit to search the house and come back tomorrow, I would have transferred everything that belongs to that dead woman and they won’t find anything that they search.’
With this thought, Mrs Clark smiled broadly.
“Well, they have no reason to refuse as they aren’t the real owners of the mansion. This mansion was bought by my mother when she was still alive as she wanted to give me the best life. Before her death, she transferred the house to me thus making me the legal owner of the house. If you don’t believe me, I can prove it to you,” Rhiannon said calmly but her words were cold.
The policewoman nodded her head.
Rhiannon had planned to let her bodyguards search the house for the jewels without involving the police but when Mrs Clark disrespected her mother, she vowed that she would make her pay and remind her place.
Mrs Clark’s face which had previously returned its color paled again upon hearing Rhiannon’s words.
She glared at her and held her husband’s hand gesturing to prevent the police but Mr Clark understood that if they kept on insisting that there was no jewel left and angered Rhiannon, they might even be chased out of the house and they would be homeless and he didn’t want that.
He also had his selfish reasons for not giving Rhiannon her mother’s jewels but now that things had gotten out of hand, he didn’t dare to make problems for the police as he didn’t want to be implicated.
He shook his hand and got rid of the woman’s grip on him. He didn’t talk preventing them from searching or supporting them either as he didn’t feel the need to. Inside, he hoped that the jewels would not be found.
Seeing that the couple had remained silent and their faces had changed upon hearing Rhiannon’s words, the police understood that what Rhiannon had said was true.
“Okay. I will start searching the house immediately,” one of the policemen said and the rest nodded before walking upstairs.
“Go help them,” Octavius said to the bodyguards.
Mrs and Mr Clark's faces paled when they saw where the police and the bodyguards were going.
After searching for a while, they found boxes of jewels under Kaylee’s bed. Kaylee was in a deep sleep and she didn’t know what was going on.
“Can someone identify whose jewels are these? Or are they the young Miss Jewels?” the policewoman asked.
“How can they be hers if she has hidden them under her bed? Let me open and see.” Rhiannon said as she chuckled.
She recognized the jewels at a glance immediately after she opened the boxes.
“These are my jewels, most of them are gifts from my mom and aunt,” Rhiannon said as tears welled in her eyes as she remembered her mother.
“Okay. Wake the young lady up as she would accompany us to the police station as she had stolen jewels,” the police officer who seemed like their head said.
“Okay,” Rhiannon said as he walked to the washroom making everyone confused as they couldn’t understand what she was planning on doing.
She later walked out of the bathroom with a bucket full of water.
“Rhiannon, what are you doing?” Mrs Clark shouted when she understood what Rhiannon wanted to do.
Rhiannon pretended not to hear her and walked towards Kaylee. She poured the cold water on Kaylee then stood still and stared at the latter as she felt proud of her work.
Kaylee shouted and jumped when she felt something cold on her.
When she opened her eyes and saw everyone on the look, she was shocked and frightened at the same time as she wondered whether she was dreaming or was a reality.
Just as she was about to speak, they heard, “There are other boxes in the master room.”
