Rhiannon became worried when she heard Octavius' words and at the same time wondered how his family knew when they weren’t in the capital.
Seeing the worried look on her face, Octavius felt troubled but knew that he had to do what he did today to let her have a foothold in the capital.
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine,” he said causing Rhiannon to hum in response.
She laid back in her seat and looked outside.
She had initially thought that getting married to Octavius wouldn’t be a problem as she had money and also, she mainly did it to fulfill her promise. But now, she wondered what kind of trouble had she gotten herself in.
She realized that she couldn’t lazy around anymore and had to bring the company to higher levels before she set to the capital.
She turned her gaze out of the car and watched the scene as they drove past the city.
She remembered about her nanny and glanced at Octavius who upon feeling her gaze turned to her.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Uhm, it’s about my nanny. I want her to accompany me but I don’t know whether you will approve of it,” she said half truth and half lies.
Not because she didn’t trust him but because she felt that she needed to be sure of some things before making certain decisions and telling him.
“Has she always been with you?” he asked curiously.
He had noticed that when she was at the hospital, she didn’t have her documents but someone transferred them to her. He didn’t question her as he didn’t want her to feel as if he wanted to know everything about her and control her life.
Rhiannon nodded with a smile on her face as she remembered how her life was every time she was with the woman. “Yes. She was hired by my mom and has been my nanny since I was a baby. Even after she passed away, she refused to leave and opted to stay with me as she was afraid that I would suffer in that house if I was left alone. She is like a second mom to me. Oh no, she is definitely a second mom.”
Octavius glanced at her and snorted. “If that’s the case what about my mother? Isn’t she your mom?”
Rhiannon was stunned when she heard her man’s words. Yes, she had asked about her family but she really didn’t expect that he would ask her such questions.
Afraid that what she would say would make the guy angry, she was very careful in her words. “Uhm. How should I put it? She is my mother-in-law. It isn’t that I don’t want to call her mom or for her to be my mother as she became one when we got married but I haven’t even seen her thus how can I confidently say that she is my mom? I don’t even know what she would think of me. Right now, let’s wait for that time to arrive and in the meantime, just know that my nanny is my second mother and I don’t think that I can leave without her.”
Octavius chuckled upon her words and when he saw her anxiety.
His laugh caused Rhiannon to be confused and glanced at him but when she saw the mischievous glint in his eyes, she understood what was happening.
“You! How can you tease me with such a topic? I won’t talk to you anymore,” Rhiannon said as she pretended to be angry and didn’t look in his direction again causing Octavius to panic and cuss at himself for making mistakes over and over again.
“Guess I need to ask brother or sister for some pieces of advice,” he said inwardly as he felt that that was an urgent matter that he should look into upon arriving home.
“I am so sorry. I just wanted to know but when I saw your panic, I found it amusing. I didn’t want to laugh at you,” he said sincerely and in a soft tone.
Rhiannon who had gotten used to his apology pretended not to hear it and took out her phone.
“I am so sorry. Do this, mmh? Call your nanny and give her our home address. Also, are you sure that it won’t bring any problems?” he said worriedly as he was afraid of what her family would do to her when they realized that the woman was gone.
‘Our home address.’ Those words really stunned Rhiannon.
Do I really have a home? She wondered as the only time she felt she was at home was when her mother was still alive. The Clark’s mansion was her home and she used to look forward to going back after classes as she would find her mother waiting for her and with snacks on the tale. After she left, everything changed. The warm house turned to be cold and outsiders invaded her home. It never felt like home ever again. But she had always felt at home when she was with her nanny.
Now hearing someone else telling her their home, she had mixed feelings, missed her mother, and at the same time felt warm.
“Rhiannon, have you heard my words?” Octavius asked when he saw her dazzled.
“Sorry. What were you say…” she immediately stopped what she was saying and pretended that she had not said anything causing Octavius to shake his head.
He had wanted to chuckle once more but after remembering her reactions, he was afraid that she would be more agree with him.
“I was asking whether you are sure if she joins us, your family won’t complain,” he repeated his question making Rhiannon frown and glance at him.
“Family? Do you think that those people are my family? I don’t think so,” she said with her eyes filled with hatred, sadness, and hurt.
Octavius who saw all the emotions running in her eyes, wisely didn’t mention the Clarks again.
“Will it be fine if she comes?” he asked as he wanted his wife to be happy and if having her nanny would make her happy, she didn’t see the need to reject her request.
