“Can you stop being a kid for once? You were the kid back at the organization but here you aren’t. Look at your little sister, is she throwing a tantrum like you? Yes, I understand that Rhiannon didn’t grow up with me but that doesn’t mean that she isn’t worried about me like you are. Everyone here is worried and it's because we know the danger lying ahead that we are refusing you to accompany me! You are a girl and you should stay here with Rhiannon. Didn’t you always say that you want to enjoy normal life? Let your brothers do the dirty works for you and make sure that you and Rhiannon have a normal life in future!” Gustavo said angrily as he wasn’t in the mood to deal with her tantrums.
Yadira lowered her head immediately after she heard his words as he knew that he was right. However, that didn’t make her heart waver or change her mind as she was worried about her brother and wanted to follow her. She thought that with her there, nothing could happen to him and they will be able to come back to their siblings safe and sound but if Gustavo were to go alone, the chances of him not returning were high. Although the guy didn’t say that, she knew that.
“Yadira, please listen to him. Can you not be selfish You just want to stay around him but what about us? What about Ernest and I? Or do you want to go and die on the battlefield leaving us just when we have gotten you? Stay here with us and we will wait for Big Brother to come back. I know that Mom will be watching over him from where she is,” Rhiannon said as she looked at her elder sister was was in distress.
Actually, what she wanted to say was that she would give her necklace to him. That way, with it, there was no way he was going to die, yes, he might face the death but that wouldn’t mean that it would overcome him. But when she remembered that the necklace was the cause as to why he was currently in hiding and not many people knew about him, she remained silent and profited herself from mentioning it.
Yadira looked at Rhiannon and when she saw the tears in Rhiannon’s eyes, she started to panic as she tried to recall whether she had done something to make her little sister cry. Although she behaved like a spoilt and immature person in front of Gustavo, in front of Rhiannon, she had always put a mature and responsible big sister endeavor.
“Why are you crying?” she said as he stretched her hand to wipe the tears on Rhiannon’s face.
“Can you please not go?” Rhiannon said as she continued crying while everyone else was shocked as they wondered when she had started crying and they had not seen it.
Of course, as the youngest, she caused everyone to panic.
“Rhia, why are you crying? Is it because I am going? Please don’t cry then, if you don’t want me to go then I won’t go. I will stay with you here,” Gustavo said in a panic as he regretted bringing such a suggestion if he knew that it was going to cause her to cry that much.
They had all vowed to protect her and not let her shed even a single tear but here they were, making her cry making of their argument.
Rhiannon sniffed as she wiped her eyes with a napkin then she looked at Gustavo.
“Eldest big brother I understand why you are doing this. If you don’t do this, then the 3 months aren’t enough for us to prepare and also get rid of them. You are doing this so that in three months, we can live a normal life. Although I know that it is a deadly mission, there is nothing I can do but I have a request. Just one request if you want to go,” Rhiannon said in a serious tone like someone who wasn’t crying.
When both Ernest and Mary saw that, they shook their heads as they felt sorry for the elders together with Gustavo and Yadira who were in a state of panic when they saw her crying.
Ernest remembered that every time he wanted to do something that Rhiannon rejected and didn’t want, she would start crying and if he didn’t listen to her, she might feel distressed that her crying act wasn’t working causing her to be serious and even refuse to eat till he gave up. However, after he had gotten hold of her weakness, she had never tried playing such tricks on him. He had thought that he would never see her doing that anymore as there wasn’t anyone she could do that to but alaas, he felt like laughing while he felt sorry for both Gustavo and Yadira for not knowing what kind of person they were up against.
