“The high-ups have already been notified and approved of the request. So, Mr and Mrs Rodrigues, you should have fun and enjoy your last day in our hotel,” Fred said coldly as he was mad.
He had seen how Rhiannon had failed to sleep to give them everything but they didn’t appreciate her goodwill. Nonetheless, he understood that maybe the family blamed Rhiannon for ruining their party with her family issues, From the Sanders to the Royals. But to him, he didn’t care as they were the ones who had invited the royals and the Sanders even after knowing Rhiannon’s identity as from how the couple had jumped in front of Rhiannon when the prince asked for the bracelets, it seemed that they knew from the beginning.
“Rhiannon, you know that apart from being your mother-in-law, I am your godmother, right?” Amanda said as she held Rhiannon’s hands.
Rhiannon stared at her as she didn’t know what to think or say. She was angry at the couple for not telling her who her father was but at the same time understood that they might have been thinking the same way her nanny Mary was thinking.
With this in her mind, she pushed all the dissatisfaction she had with them and chose to forgive them as she moved forward.
She then nodded her head at Amanda as she didn’t feel like speaking. After everything that happened, she felt so tired.
“So your godmother asks you not to divorce this son of hers. Although he claims that he doesn’t love you, you know his true feelings towards you,” Amanda said making Rhiannon chuckle inwardly as he at the same time felt envious of Octavius having a mother who sided with him and defended him no matter what.
“He never told me how he felt for me, Mom. When asked today, he said he doesn’t. I thought that he was falling in love with me but now I realize that I was so mistaken,” Rhiannon replied as she felt pain in her heart when talking about Octavius.
“Most of the time we are always arguing. When I do something you don’t like or feel wrong, you just walk away with no intention of giving me a chance to make things right. With how you carried everything, did you think that I would fall in love with you?” Octavius asked sharply as he hated being blamed for their marriage not working when it wasn’t entirely his fault but also hers.
Hearing his words, Rhiannon nodded in understanding.
“I don’t go because I don’t want to listen to you or forgive you. I leave because am afraid that we will argue more. Also, leaving would make you realize what you did and apologize but would you? You do something then expect me to keep me behind me even without you apologizing,” Rhiannon said.
“But I buy you gifts to make you forgive me,” Octavius said making some people chuckle.
“Octavius, sometimes gifts aren’t worth anything. What’s worth is an apology and also doing what's right. Not apologizing, giving me gifts then the next moment you make the same mistakes again,” Rhiannon said but Octavius shook his head disagreeing as even after he apologized, the latter always avoided him and busied herself forgetting that he was the cause of her having sleepless nights in the last one week.
“I wanted to work on our marriage but you never did. I wanted to know you more and love you but you never gave me a chance to,” Octavius said.
“I did too. That’s why I arranged everything. Did everything by myself even coming apart with the designs and the themes. I was afraid that your family wouldn’t approve of me. I worked hard to prove myself so that in the future, they would not oppose our marriage or think that I was not worthy of their son. I wanted to work things out. Even when I went away, I would call you to come and accompany me where I was or go back home because I would feel that we should sort things out like mature people, But…” Rhiannon said as she cracked.
She didn’t know how to love. She always put a distance between her and him after being betrayed by her loved ones not believing that a stranger was way better than those who betrayed her.
When she decided to open up to him and tell him what she was told by her aunt, she didn’t want his protection and help, yes she needed those but she also wanted the man to support her, for him to know what she had as not t have any secrets between them. But when he laughed at her telling her she could never surpass the Andersons in the designing industry, she felt mocked and looked down upon, she was angry and afraid he might even oppress her for his family.
She felt hurt and wished she also had a family to support her. When she was about to get over everything and work her way to the top, he launched his perfumes the same day as hers just to fight her. She felt betrayed and wondered whether she trusted the guy to the point of sharing everything, Wouldn’t he do as he did knowing very well those companies were hers?
Nonetheless, she had decided that she would tell him everything after she was done with the competitions and she was free since she didn’t want them to always argue.
She also didn’t want him to know a lot of things as it might also put him in danger, she wanted to protect him and protect their marriage. However, the fact that she never saw how her parents dealt with things when they had problems didn’t help.
The fact that she never received any fatherly or brotherly love also didn’t help as the one whom she believed loved her betrayed her brutally. She wanted him but at the same time was afraid of not getting hurt,
She thought that since he knew what she had gone through in the past, he understood her and understood why she always guarded herself from him but now, she realized that she was never understood. It was just her wishful thinking that she had married someone who understood her.
“I thought you understood why I never got so close to you,” she said as she tried her best not to shed any tears.
“You know what I went through, the fire and all that. Others might not know but you know. I thought you understood what I was always so afraid of and at the same time the enemies that are after me but now, I have realized that you never understood me. Maybe you never understood me front the start,” she added stunning Octavius as he immediately remembered the fire, the betrayal, and how she was so focused on getting her revenge on the Clarks.
He wanted to speak but when he saw her look at him tears in her eyes while shaking her head, he was afraid that he might say something else that might wound her.
He wondered why he forgot about that after her revenge was completed. Why he never realize that he was hurting and as afraid of being betrayed once more? He felt like he was a scumbag.
“I am sorry for not understanding you. Sorry for forgetting what led us to meet each other,” he said apologetically making people curious about what he was talking about.
Mary looked at Rhiannon in disbelief.
When she went to the hospital to see Rhiannon, she thought that Rhiannon had just found out about the Clark's plot and went to the hospital to cooperate with them and when she asked her to make sure that none of them knew that she was alive, she thought she was doing them for the company’s sake but now hearing Octavius, she started having doubts once more.
“Did you see for yourself the betrayal?” she asked.
All this while, she thought that Rhiannon was just busy and that’s why she didn’t have enough time to spend with Octavius but now, she wondered whether it as really the case or if was she just finding something to escape.
If Rhiannon heard her thoughts, she would have shouted that she wasn’t escaping but at the same time escaping.
She never once wanted to get so close to Octavius as she was afraid of being betrayed, but her finding out about her real identity and the companies gave her a chance to escape.
“Answer me!” Mary shouted.
“Yes. Okay! I met them in that apartment in my room,” Rhiannon shouted yes then started murmuring as she didn’t want to remember that day.
The fire that had engulfed her, her choked cries, her trying to scream but due to the smoke, nothing left her mouth. Her body burned till the necklace flashed and rescued her. That was always a nightmare she never wanted to remember, as he would never have been standing there.
“The fire,” Mary whispered as she looked at her then at Octavius who nodded his head at her.
When her guess was confirmed, Mary started crying as she felt she the Clarks had not been punished enough.
Seeing Rhiannon trembling, the prince’s eyes turned cold as he glared at Octavius planning him for the state she currently was in.
“I'm taking her with me now!”
