Chapter 266 The Incident of Cutting People
'Kid?'
Sophia and David's hearts sank at the same time.
"Quick, head towards the float!" David said without hesitation. They rushed in the direction of the voice, but the throngs of tourists made it incredibly difficult to move.
As the screams echoed, people around them began running the other way, their faces filled with panic and fear. Sophia and David pushed against the tide, trying to carve a path through the chaos.
"Move aside!" David shouted, trying to make their presence known, but the crowd's panic rendered them oblivious.
Sophia clung tightly to David's arm, her heart pounding with anxiety. She gripped his arm firmly, trying to maintain her balance, terrified of being separated by the crowd. Daisy's smiling face kept flashing in her mind, and she silently prayed for her safety.
As they pushed through the crowd, their eyes scanned ahead, desperately searching for any sign of Daisy amidst the turmoil.
As they neared the float, the screams grew louder, and the chaos intensified, as if something terrible had happened.
Finally, they reached the float, and the sight before them left Sophia and David stunned. A man was brandishing a gleaming knife, causing people to scatter in terror, the scene a whirlwind of confusion.
David quickly pulled Sophia behind him.
"Daisy!" Sophia called out, her eyes darting around, but the surging crowd made it impossible to spot their little girl.
Just then, Sophia's gaze locked onto a familiar figure. She saw a small girl being jostled by the crowd, wearing a bright-colored outfit.
Sophia's heart tightened, praying it wasn't Daisy.
Suddenly, the girl fell!
At the same time, an adult, knocked off balance by the crowd, stumbled towards the girl, about to fall on her.
"Watch out!" Sophia's heart clenched, wanting to rush to the girl's aid, but a sudden sharp pain in her stomach forced her to stop, her face turning pale.
The adult was about to fall on the girl.
Sophia closed her eyes in fear, but just then...
David moved like lightning through the chaotic crowd, forcefully pushing his way through and lunging towards the girl. At the last moment, he grabbed the adult, pushing him away to prevent him from crushing the girl.
The girl, now safe, looked up at David with tear-filled eyes, her face a mask of fear.
David sighed in relief, checking the girl for injuries. She was unharmed, but his heart tightened again. This girl wasn't Daisy.
"Are you okay?" David asked gently.
The girl, her vision blurred by tears, whispered, "I... I can't find my mom."
"Don't worry, I'll help you find her," David reassured her, though his mind was still on Daisy. He knew he had to comfort this girl first.
Meanwhile, Sophia watched, wanting to help but paralyzed by the pain in her stomach. She gritted her teeth, trying to move towards David.
"David!" Sophia finally called out, "We need to keep looking for Daisy. She might still be nearby!"
David nodded, placing the girl in a safe spot.
Just then, the girl's mother rushed over, immediately hugging her tightly, tears streaming down her face.
"You scared me to death! I've been looking everywhere for you!" The mother's voice trembled with relief and guilt.
"I'm sorry, Mom," the girl sobbed, clinging to her mother.
"This place is dangerous. Get your daughter out of here," David urged.
Without waiting for thanks, David and Sophia turned to continue their search for Daisy.
David's phone suddenly buzzed. He quickly answered, seeing it was a call from their bodyguard.
"Mr. Jones, we have an emergency! We've located Daisy, but she's being held at knifepoint!"
"What?" David's heart sank.
"She's across the park. The suspect has a knife and is making threats. We're trying to reach her, but there's a crowd blocking access," the bodyguard reported.
"Do whatever it takes to get her safely! Just bring her back!" David said, his voice shaking with a mix of fear and rage. He swore silently that whoever did this would pay.
"We'll get there as fast as we can," the bodyguard assured before hanging up.
"Sophia!" David began, but Sophia was already pulling him towards the other side of the park. She had heard everything.
They had to save Daisy!
The crowd continued to flee in all directions, but David and Sophia pushed against the flow, fighting to make their way through.
Finally, they broke free from the crowd and reached the other side of the park.
The sight before them filled Sophia and David with rage.
The man held Daisy close, the knife pressed against her neck. Daisy's face was a picture of fear and pain, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Her small body trembled, clearly terrified, her lips quivering as she tried to call out, but her voice was drowned by the surrounding noise.
At this tense moment, several reporters arrived, setting up cameras and starting a live broadcast.
The cameras focused on the man and Daisy, the reporter's voice cutting through the chaos, "We're here at Disneyland, where a man is holding a young girl at knifepoint. The situation is extremely dangerous."
The reporter's tone was calm and professional, showing no sign of the tension the situation warranted.
The camera angles shifted, trying to capture more details, even adjusting to show Daisy's pained expression. The reporter's eyes gleamed with excitement, treating this as a major news event rather than a life-threatening crisis.
Meanwhile, onlookers gathered at the perimeter, pulling out their phones to record, their faces alight with curiosity and excitement. Some whispered among themselves, others took photos, and some even laughed at the tense situation, oblivious to Daisy's peril. Laughter and chatter filled the air, as if they were watching an entertaining show, indifferent to Daisy's suffering.
"Look, that poor girl!" a young woman remarked, her tone almost mocking, as if watching a spectacle.
"This is going to be huge news, definitely trending!" another bystander responded excitedly, eyes gleaming with anticipation, completely unaware of Daisy's despair.
Daisy's agony was stark against the backdrop of indifference. Her eyes pleaded for help, but no one stepped forward. She was trapped, unable to move.
"Mommy..." Daisy's cry was faint, swallowed by the noise around her.
The reporter continued, unfazed by Daisy's distress, "We can see the young girl being held at knifepoint. The situation is critical, and the police are on their way."
