Chapter 260: Grandfather's Dissatisfaction
"Grandfather, Madison, and I want to get married now." Wesley said in one go. He didn't even think before speaking. That's why he didn't manage to catch the frown on grandfather's face. But Madison did. This made her tremble a bit because the gaze her grandfather shot her was so... Just as she was about to pull on Wesley's sleeve to warn him, her grandfather's glare made her freeze on the spot. She guiltily looked down on her toes because she knew she was in the wrong. Seeing that she had obediently stopped what she was about to do, grandfather snorted softly and turned to scrutinize Wesley. Wesley felt his gaze on him, and he straightened his back. Of course, grandfather's gaze wasn't friendly. And Wesley could somehow figure out why. Grandfather wasn't planning on refusing to allow them to get married, was he? From how he knew Madison, she would definitely cower and obey her grandfather. Would she do the same if her grandfather asked her not to get married to him? The more he thought about, the more panic rose from the bottom of his heart. What should he do?
The living room was silent except for the sound of tapping on the tiles from grandfather's walking stick. Everyone held their breath and waited for him to speak. Even Rowan, who didn't mind the fact that Madison was getting married to Wesley, looked puzzedly at his grandfather. To Rowan, as long as his sister married a powerful man who treated her better, he would be relieved. And he had Don his research, so he knew just how powerful Wesley was. Then why was grandfather so angry? Well, Rowan definitely wouldn't understand. Grandfather felt that he had just found Madison. They had yet to spend quality time together, yet another brat was already snatching her away? How could he be okay with that? Whenever this thought flashed across grandfather's mind, he would turn to glare at Wesley. Wesley could only sigh helplessly. He knew how grandfather was feeling, but there was no way he was going to relent when it came to Madison. He loved her to death. How could he bear to let go? So, even though he felt a little guilty, he steeled his heart and calmly faced the cold grandpa.
"Brat, are you sure you didn't force my granddaughter to marry you?" After a long while, grandfather suddenly spoke, and as he did, he exerted a lot of pressure, which made Madison frown in worry.
Was he going to attack Wesley? No, she couldn't let that happen. So, without thinking twice, she took a step forward.
"Grandpa, i-" Madison was about to continue when he saw his grandfather raise his hand to signal her to stop. What could she do? She could only obediently shut up and looked at Wesley helplessly. Wesley understood her message.
"Grandfather, I didn't force her. I've always loved her. Madison is my life, and without her, I'm nothing. I just want to be with her forever and pamper her to the fullest. That's what she deserves." Wesley declared solemnly. Leaving grandfather speechless for a while. He wondered, were all youngsters so shameless nowadays? Who would declare all that in front of so many people?
Grandfather snorted loudly and turned his face to look somewhere else. However, no one noticed the flash of satisfaction and happiness that quickly passed in his eyes.
Wesley stood there, waiting for his verdict.
Madison felt so sweet inside when she heard Wesley's confession. How could she not? He had loved her for so long without caring about her background or her traumatic past. He had made her believe in love again and have emotions like other people. Just as she was
eeling touched, grandfather's voice woke her up.
"Both of you get out. I want to have a talk with Madison." When he said this, Rowan and Wesley froze. Even Madison was confused. What was going on? They thought grandfather was joking, but looking at his serious face, Wesley and Rowan worriedly walked out. They weren't she sure what would ensure once they walked out.
