Chapter 251: Death and grief
Chapter 251: Death and grief
Wesley didn't care about Chris or whoever. His whole mind was a mess. Madison was dead. His Maddy was dead. As he held her cold body in his arms, he couldn't help but cry. He still had plans for her. There were so many plans, and then she just died unexpectedly? Wesley didn't want to believe it. In fact, he blamed himself for all this.
"It's all my fault. I'm so sorry, Maddy." Wesley said as he choked on his sobs. He couldn't care about his image. That was the woman he loved. He failed to protect her despite giving her the assurance earlier. This was all his fault. Why wasn't he wary when he saw how suspicious Chris was behaving earlier? He could've saved Madison, but he couldn't because of his negligence.
When the bodyguards outside heard the gunshots, they ran in. But they were too late.
Grandfather, upon seeing them, tiredly waved his hand to signal that they take Chris away. He tiredly sat on the couch. He had no idea why things developed in that direction. He looked at Wesley, who looked as if his whole life had been drained away and felt his heart hurt. He shouldn't have asked them to pay him a visit. This wouldn't have happened.
Rowan, who had only recently united with Madison, watched in shock as Wesley held her lifeless body in his arms. He was so shocked that he couldn't speak. It was a mess. He watched in a daze as the guards pulled Chris , who was laughing like a maniac and swearing like a shrew away. He couldn't believe it. It was because of that man Chris that his sister had died. His brain churned. His eyes darted around and fell on the fruit knife on the table. Just as he hand was about to reach for it;
"Rowan." Grandfather called out. Rowan stiffened. His grandfather had never called him that, not in that tone either.
"Yes." Rowan answered carefully. He knew his grandfather was very mad at that moment.
"Don't." Just one word, but the pressure that came with it was insane.
"Okay, grandfather. " Rowan said and obediently sat down on the couch. He was also shocked about the thought that he had a few minutes ago. He just wanted to kill Chris. He didn't know where such an urge came from considering his age.
Everyone was lost in grief and mourning. Wesley's tears couldn't stop falling. He still couldn't come to terms with the fact that he had lost the love of his life for good. He couldn't care less about any other person. He wished he had a way to bring her back to life, but he didn't. It was all hopeless.
As everyone was despairing and crying, the ring on Madison's finger, the mysterious jade ring that was in the hands of her grandfather before he passed it to her, suddenly emitted a faint green glow. No one saw it since they were so engrossed in grief. It kept on glowing and spreading warmth from her middle finger to her body as she lay there lifeless. Suddenly, when her body was all warmed up...
