Chapter 320 Mutual Probing
Chapter 320 Mutual Probing
The Carter Group's stock kept tanking, and the board was on the brink of collapse. A crowd gathered at the Carter Manor to see Aiden, surrounding the Carter family completely. Meanwhile, Liliana lounged on the couch, munching on an apple.
"Aiden, is Alexander really okay?" Aiden asked, still a bit worried. Liliana, however, seemed completely unbothered.
"He texted me last night. He's at the hospital now. If you're still worried, you can go see him yourself. He's definitely fine, just with Allison."
Aiden patted his chest, finally feeling relieved. "That useless guy, can't even protect his own wife, and let Allison get so scared. What a waste!"
Aiden kept cursing Alexander, who sneezed several times while resting. Despite being told to rest, Alexander kept pulling James into work arrangements, which annoyed Allison. She ended up adding a sedative to his IV, finally making Alexander sleep soundly.
Allison wasn't idle, either. With the Eldoria incident blowing up, hackers worldwide were attacking Novaria's network firewall. Allison, Sabrina, and Felix had to fend off several attacks.
"Eldoria's president must be crazy, spending a fortune to hire hackers to attack Genesis Creations and Novaria's financial firewall! Bernard might resort to extreme measures; the Bishop family has already started taking action!"
Felix, having returned, resumed his couch potato lifestyle, much to Allison's headache. He constantly ate junk food and drank soda, but thankfully, Sabrina kicked him into shape.
"Stay on defense and don't let your guard down. If you let any slip through, I'll personally make sure you regret it!" Allison's threat made Felix instinctively cover his groin in fear.
Allison rolled her eyes at him in disdain and pulled Sabrina along to get some food. Carl had also arrived at Skycrest, and they held a meeting overnight.
"Felix got their top-secret files from Eldoria. The contents are dangerous and shocking. If the world knew, it would cause chaos! Most of it is weaponry, and these things are worth a fortune!"
Allison's eyes were serious as she looked at Carl. She knew these items were invaluable, but selling them would spell disaster for the world.
Carl's gaze was cold, even murderous. Allison met his eyes without flinching, sparks almost flying between them.
"Do you think I'd sell these things for money, Allison? Do you really see me as that greedy?" Carl was fuming. Felix and Cleo exchanged glances and quietly stepped back, giving them space to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.
Sabrina hid in the corner, terrified.
Allison nodded slightly. "I don't want to believe you'd do that, but when those missiles appeared in Eldoria, I knew you sold them! Carl, we agreed that Genesis Creations wouldn't deal in arms. That's my line!"
Carl's eyes flickered, but he stayed silent. Felix quickly spoke up. "Allison, it's not what you think. Carl did it to get me into Eldoria's lab..."
Allison shot Felix a look and continued, "Only someone like Felix would believe that excuse. I was here three years ago, and your dealings with Eldoria have been going on for over a decade. Half of their tech came from Genesis Creations, modified but still recognizable!"
Felix and Cleo were shocked. Carl clenched his fists, taking a deep breath before speaking.
"The Hall family has been doing business with Eldoria for thirty years. It's a family business. Without this connection, you wouldn't have had a chance to enter Eldoria safely!"
"If the Hall family hadn't been supplying Eldoria, they wouldn't be this powerful. You're feeding a beast, just like the scumbag I killed. The Hall family's ambition has never been just about money. For centuries, they've been involved in human trafficking worldwide, right, Mr. Hall?"
Felix felt a murderous tension and grabbed Cleo's arm in fear. "Cleo, I'm scared!"
Cleo was scared too, but didn't dare speak. Sabrina was on the verge of tears.
Allison glanced at them. "You two take Sabrina out. This isn't for her to hear. Let the others in."
Cleo nodded and led Sabrina out. Felix stayed, despite his fear. "I'm not leaving. You two will fight, and I need to break it up!"
The door opened, and Landon walked in. Allison handed him a USB drive from her computer. "Return this to its owner. I trust you'll handle it properly. This room is network-shielded, so nothing can be stored or sent. It will auto-delete."
Landon nodded and left. Sabrina, sitting in the hallway, was almost in tears. "Landon, it's so scary. Allison is so scary!"
Landon hugged her gently. "Don't be afraid. I'll be back soon. Just do what Ms. Bennett says."
Sabrina nodded and sat with Cleo, still unsure of what was happening between Allison and Carl.
Inside, the tension was palpable, the room feeling like an icebox. Felix shivered and rubbed his arms.
"You've had this question for a long time, haven't you, Allison? I've been waiting for you to ask."
Allison took a deep breath. "Carl, do you remember the first time we met?"
Carl's mind flashed back to that rainy night. A shipping container was unloaded from a ship, and when the door opened, it was pitch black inside. A person in a raincoat with a flashlight dragged people out one by one.
They were all teenagers, boys and girls, some alive, some dead, the smell unbearable. Carl inspected each one until his eyes met a pair of large, hate-filled eyes. That look was what caught Carl's attention.
