Chapter 321 Old People and Old Affairs
Chapter 321 Old People and Old Affairs
"You knew it was me!"
This wasn't a question, but a statement. Back then, Carl didn't look like he does now; he was the esteemed young master of the Ross family.
He wore a British-style suit, a hat, and carried a cane. When he looked at people, he would use the cane to prod those on the ground, only focusing on their faces and limbs. His gaze was cold, as if he were looking at fish on the brink of death.
Allison laughed, but it was a bitter laugh.
"Carl, I've always said we're family, and that will never change. The reason is simple: you could have easily destroyed me, but you chose to help me. You've even been restraining the Hall family's business for years. I know it's all because of me!"
Carl laughed too. "Allison, the word 'family' is so precious to you!"
Allison nodded. "I believe the most precious thing in this world is sincerity. You've treated me sincerely, so I'm willing to give my all for you! You know me, Carl. I hate betrayal the most. So, have you betrayed Genesis Creations?"
Carl shook his head, his voice firm. "I would never betray Genesis Creations, nor would I betray you, Allison. You have no idea how important you are to me!"
"So you sold Eldoria a bunch of junk, letting them think they're the best in the world, only to realize they're just an inflated balloon?"
Carl's eyes softened. No one knew how nervous he had been. He couldn't imagine how he would live if Allison abandoned him.
"They're just too foolish. The Faith family has deep roots, wealthy but brainless. Every generation of leaders has been the same. It's not just the Ross family taking advantage of them; they just trust the Hall family more!"
Since Allison had already opened up, Carl asked the question that had been buried in his heart for years.
"Allison, do you hate me?"
Allison nodded without hesitation. "Yes, I used to hate you deeply, even wanted to kill you. Mr. Hall was the beginning of my nightmare, but he also gave me new hope. To us, Carl is like an older brother, a pillar we can rely on!"
"But now you have new confidence, Alexander!"
Allison nodded, admitting without hesitation. "Actually, we're mutually beneficial. He would give up everything for me, and I would do the same for him! Carl, he's also my family!"
Carl knew Allison's personality was inherently cold. Any man she would give her all for must be someone she truly loved. Carl felt resentful that he wasn't the one in that place in her heart.
But looking at Allison's innocent face, the darkness in his heart slowly dissipated.
Family. She said he was her hope. At that moment, Carl felt relieved.
"Allison, you can handle the Eldoria situation however you want. Don't worry about the Faith family; their wealth has almost been depleted over the years. Bernard, who was pushed to the top, is an idiot. He doesn't deserve to be Prime Minister! And don't trust Vernon too much; he's much smarter than Bernard. Be careful not to be tricked by that old fox!"
"Got it. You're getting more naggy as you age!"
Carl laughed and stood up, walking over to Allison and flicking her forehead.
"A while ago, Alexander asked me to look into someone. It's an old member of the Carter family from years ago. I'll send you the information; maybe you'll recognize them!"
Allison frowned, opened the email on her phone, and saw the photo. Her phone suddenly fell to the ground.
"Allison, you okay?"
"Thaddeus Voss. He was locked up before I was born. He killed your grandmother's only son! So what's his connection to the Carter family?"
Carl was stunned, not expecting such a connection. His gaze towards Allison became complicated.
Allison's face darkened. "So this guy really is connected to the Carter family?"
Carl nodded. "Brace yourself. Thaddeus is a Carter, Aiden's biological son, Griffin's twin brother! Twenty years ago, he was imprisoned for murder, served twenty-three years, and was released six months ago!"
Six months ago? That was when Allison had just met Alexander. Alexander had encountered an assassination attempt in Avalon City, likely related to this guy. So it was a Carter who killed her grandmother's son?
Allison slumped in her seat, her face pale, her head throbbing.
"Allison, are you okay? You look terrible. Are you feeling unwell?"
Carl had Cleo call Henry, who checked Allison's condition, his brows furrowed.
"She's injured and hasn't properly rested. Her health is poor, and she's sleep-deprived. She needs sleep!"
Allison hadn't rested since returning from Eldoria. Now, she was truly in pain and quickly fell asleep once she lay down.
Henry administered medication to Allison, and Cleo watched with concern.
"I overlooked her previous gunshot wound. Allison is so tough; she doesn't complain even when in pain, and she performed surgery on Alexander!"
Carl's face darkened. He turned and went to Alexander's room, where Alexander was already awake and arranging work.
Seeing Carl enter, Alexander waved James out.
"Did you find out about the person I asked you to investigate?"
Carl nodded. "Allison knows about it, too. Thaddeus is the one who killed the Bennett family's eldest son, right?"
Alexander nodded. "Thaddeus is my second brother. He and my older brother are twins. He once served in the military but was expelled for fighting with teammates. My father was furious and kicked him out. I was only five years old then!"
Thaddeus was expelled from the Carter family. Being a twin, he took after his mother, which should have been a beautiful thing, but became the catalyst for his hatred towards the Carter family.
Just because he didn't carry the Carter surname, he was mocked as someone abandoned by the family. Aiden never expected that a surname would ruin his life.
"It was a painful chapter the Carter family doesn't want to mention. He was imprisoned for murder and once sought my father's help, but the fact that he killed someone couldn't be changed. He was sentenced to life."
Alexander was worried that Allison wouldn't be able to handle this information. But clearly, Allison already knew, and she hadn't come to confront him, which made Alexander uneasy.
"Allison isn't feeling well. I had Henry give her a sedative, and she's asleep now. I gave her the results of the investigation. Whether to share it with you is her choice. Thaddeus may be in prison, but he's not completely ignorant of the outside world."
