“My goodness, the people who work in the cardiology department are the luckiest.” One of the nurses gossiped.
The others looked at her, unsure of what she was talking about.
“What do you mean?”
“Have you seen the new cardiologist who just joined the hospital today? I have never seen someone as good-looking as Dr. Sean, I swear.”
“Oh, you even know his name already?”
“Who told you to come late to work today? Director Martin had made a brief introduction after Dr. Sean arrived. He… he is going to cause chaos in the hospital.”
“What about the new surgeon? I heard that although she is young, she is very talented.”
The nurse who was speaking about Sean sneered, “Who cares about her? Maybe she really isn’t that great, and the director is just exaggerating.”
Some of the nurses looked at her and spoke, “Nurse Judy, what is with that attitude? Are you jealous of our new surgeon?”
“Why would I be jealous of her? I don’t even know who she is. And besides, I am straight, so why would I pay attention to another woman?”
The nurses looked at her with wide eyes. How could they not see through her intentions? She must have set her eyes on the new cardiologist.
Nurse Judy was known all over the hospital. She was Director Martin’s niece, and rumors had it that she did not even finish her nursing course.
Other than that, she was famous among the hospital staff because she was the most beautiful in the nursing department, and every man adored her.
Some had even fought over her when she had first joined the hospital, and since then, she had always had a haughty attitude, using her status to get what she wanted.
The hospital director spoiled her because her mother died when she was very young, and Martin vowed to protect her and treat her like his own daughter.
Nurse Judy looked at the other nurses and said, “You guys should get back to work. I am going to see my uncle. I have always been passionate about heart diseases; I think it is high time he transferred me to a different department.”
The other nurses had nothing to say. Although they felt bad that Judy could get whatever she wanted because her uncle was the hospital director, there was nothing they could do about it.
They weren’t so fortunate to be born in rich families, and they depended on their hard work to reach where they were.
But among them, not all of them were fond of Judy, nor did they suck up to her. Seeing her sway her artificial butts, one of the nurses, who had never gotten along with Judy, sneered.
“She thinks that just because her uncle is the hospital director, she can do as she pleases?”
Another one looked at her and spoke, “Tina, you know that Judy has always been like that. She acts as if she is the boss. You don’t have to feel bad about it.”
“I don’t feel bad, I just feel sorry for us who do actual jobs but get little or no recognition. But I am sure that one day, someone will put her in her place.”
“Forget about her, don’t let her ruin your day.” Aurora, another nurse, spoke up.
“I heard that the new surgeon is very beautiful. Although she is the youngest in her field, her skills are unparalleled.”
“Well, whether she is truly a genius or not, we have plenty of time to verify that.”
Judy went directly to her uncle’s office. She did not even knock and entered like she owned the place.
Director Martin was looking through some hospital files, and when he saw his niece, his face softened. “Judy, you are here?”
“Uncle Mart, how are you doing today?”
“I am fine.” Martin smiled.
He did not wait for Judy to continue talking as he directly asked, “What do you want?”
Judy smiled sheepishly as she playfully stuck out her tongue. If someone else had seen her, they definitely would have rolled their eyes, but to Martin, his nephew was extremely cute.
“Uncle Mart, you know me too well. How did you know that I wanted something from you?”
Martin laughed heartily, “Of course, I know you. You never call me with my nickname unless you want something from me.”
Judy fidgeted with her fingers, acting as if she did not know how to start the conversation.
Martin looked at her and encouraged, “You don’t have to be shy with me, Jud… what do you want? You know your uncle can do anything for you.”
“Uncle, actually, I have just realized that I have been to all departments except the cardiology department. I have always been passionate about heart diseases, so maybe I should go there and learn a few things.”
Martin knew what his niece was all about. She must have heard about the new doctor, and that was why she had suddenly ‘developed’ a passion for heart diseases.
But Dr. Sean did not seem like your typical doctor. There was something about him that even director Martin couldn’t put his finger on. On top of that, he was in a relationship with Dr. Hart.
Seeing that her uncle was not saying anything, Judy thought that he was not going to help her.
Her face turned sad, and tears almost fell from her eyes as she looked at Martin, “Uncle, is this request too much to ask?”
Martin shook his head, “Of course not. I am just afraid that you might put yourself in harm's way.”
Judy shook her head, “Uncle, I know that with you around, no one can bully me. Plus, I just want to expand my knowledge. I don’t have any ulterior motives.”
Martin looked at her with a dubious expression. There was no way he believed a single word she said.
“You’ve always said the same thing every time a new employee joined the hospital. I know exactly why you want to join the cardiology department. But Judy, I must warn you, this new doctor is not like anyone you’ve dealt with in the past, so you should know your limits.”
Judy did not even listen to anything her uncle was saying. She just wanted him to give her the go-ahead.
“Uncle, can I go?”
Martin shook his head and waved his hand. He had spoiled his niece so much, and he only had himself to blame.
The moment Judy left her uncle’s office, she adjusted her bosom and shook her behind in a dramatic manner.
She looked on with a seductive smile as she bit her pink.
“Dr. Sean, wait for me. I am coming.”
