Chapter 24 chapter 24
Chapter 24
The weekend passed by in a flash, and although she hadn’t stepped outside the house, Natalie felt like it was the best weekend she had ever had in her life, and she did not regret a bit of it.
“Honey, I will drop Jojo off at her new school and then head to work. You haven’t told me if you will be going back to Star City or not.” Natalie said as she put on her clothes.
Sean went over and hugged her from behind. Just a single touch from him, and Natalie felt her pants wet. She couldn’t help but squeeze her legs together.
“Would you like it if I moved to Sterling City?”
Natalie’s eyes sparkled. She nodded her head vigorously, “Like it? I would love it, honey.”
“Okay.” Sean nodded.
Natalie turned around and hugged him across the waist. “So? What’s the plan? When will you be moving here?”
“Miss me already?”
“Stop teasing me. This is a serious conversation.”
“What if I can’t find a job after moving here? Will I be a stay-at-home boyfriend? Won’t you get tired of me after feeding me for a month?”
“Are you kidding? Why would I get tired of you? And you are such a brilliant cardiologist. Hospitals will be fighting over you.”
“Hahaha, since my girlfriend has so much faith in me, I will not disappoint you.”
Natalie left with Jojo after breakfast. She had no idea that a huge surprise was waiting for her on her first day at work.
…
“Mommy, is the new school nice?” Jojo asked.
Natalie looked at Jojo and inquired, “Baby, are you worried about something?”
Jojo looked at her mother and nodded, “Mommy, I am just afraid that the other kids might not like me and I may end up not making any friends.”
Natalie laughed as she gently pinched Jojo’s cheeks, “With how cute my daughter is, who wouldn’t like you? I am just afraid that everyone might end up liking you and you will feel overwhelmed.”
“Ah, Mommy, am I that amazing?”
“Of course.”
Suddenly, Natalie’s expression turned serious. She looked at Jojo, and her voice also turned serious, “Jojo, listen to Mommy very carefully. This is a new environment, so you need to be very careful. I know that you are very amazing, and you will definitely behave well in school, but still be good, okay?”
Jojo nodded in understanding, “Okay, mommy. I will be very good. I will listen to my teachers, and I will be nice to my friends.”
Natalie ruffled her hair, “That’s my girl. If anyone doesn’t like you, don’t force yourself to be their friend, and if someone bullies you, please, don’t hesitate to tell Daddy or me, okay?”
“Okay, mommy, I understand.”
“Good.”
Being her first day at school, Natalie did not want the teachers to have a bad impression of Jojo, so she arrived very early. She also had a few admission processes to complete before heading to work.
This was a school that not just anyone could join. It was the best in the city, and unless you had status and money, you wouldn’t even dream about stepping inside the gates.
But Natalie did not care about any of that. What mattered was her daughter’s education, and she had to get the best.
After finishing everything, Natalie bid Jojo goodbye and left. She was almost getting late for work, and given that it was her first time, she did not want to embarrass herself.
“Jojo, baby, I will be leaving, okay? Don’t forget what we spoke about.”
“Okay, mommy.”
Natalie glanced at Jojo’s teacher. She looked like a nice person who could be trusted. She folded her hands in front of her chest and spoke, “Teacher Grace, I am leaving Jojo in your care. Please, look after her.”
After informing the teacher of the things she needed to take note of, especially when it came to Jojo’s meals, Natalie left.
There was a bit of jam at the gate, and Natalie had to stop. Just then, her new boss called. Natalie wore the Bluetooth and answered the call.
“Director Martin, Dr. Hart speaking.”
“Dr. Hart, how are you?”
“I am good, Director Martin.”
Director Martin scratched his head before he continued, “Uhm, Dr. Hart, I just wanted to confirm if you will come to the hospital today. Everyone is anticipating your arrival.”
“Director Martin, I just dropped my daughter off at school.” Natalie paused as she looked at the time on her wrist watch. She cleared her throat and continued, “I don’t know how much traffic is on the road, but I will try my best and be there in twenty minutes.”
“Okay, Dr. Hart, please take your time.”
The moment Director Martin hung up the phone, he made a victory sign. He had only called to confirm whether Natalie would show up or not. He was afraid that she might have changed her mind, and she no longer wanted to work for them.
His hospital was not as big as City Hospital from Star City, and he was afraid that Natalie might change her mind last minute.
Director Martin called for an emergency meeting. He looked at his staff and spoke in a serious voice, “Our new heart surgeon and cardiologist will be joining us today. With these two on board, our hospital will produce remarkable results. Let us give them a warm welcome.”
…
At the school gate…
After the jam cleared, Natalie started her car; her focus was on the steering wheel. Just before she hit the main road, another car drove past her, and when the other person saw her face, her eyes widened in shock, and her face turned pale.
“Natalie?” The person called out in an almost trembling voice.
She told the driver, “Stop the car, quick!”
“Ma’am, we can’t stop the car here. It is prohibited.”
The woman did not give a damn as she roared, “Stop the car, or you are fired.”
The driver had no choice but to step on the emergency brake.
The woman swiftly alighted from the car, not caring that other vehicles were behind. But she was a bit too late, because by the time her feet touched the ground, Natalie had already driven off.
The woman could not help but curse, “Darn it! Why did that woman look so much like Natalie? Could she be back in the city? And what was she doing in this school?”
…
When Natalie arrived at the hospital, she was led to the conference hall for a brief meeting.
The hospital director looked at her, and he could not believe that she was so young. Although he had seen her photo on her resume, he thought that maybe she had used her old photos.
“Our new cardiologist also joined us today, but he will only be working part-time.”
Natalie nodded. She had already switched to her doctor mode, and her expression was extremely serious.
When Natalie entered the conference room, she was stunned by the person she saw and called out in a stunned voice, “Honey?”
Sean gave her a gentle smile and waved at her, “Hey, love.”
