Olivia - A shit expensive apology

Olivia - A shit expensive apology
"Is someone going to tell me what's going on?" I asked, sitting down in between Harmon and Billy after telling the band to take five.

All day long I had been getting the princess treatment. From both Harmon and Billy. Breakfast in bed. Then shopping and sightseeing throughout Japan. Not some haphazard last second thing either. It was all planned. Right down to the kimono for dinner and the tour guide that Harmon ended up firing and taking over from. I spent all day feeling like I was on a date, with my brother chaperoning.

It didn't bother me one bit though. We were surprisingly comfortable. The three of us in our own little world. Just like old times. Both smiling while showering me with attention and expensive shopping sprees. Despite this, something was amiss. Obviously I wanted to know why we weren't leaving anymore. Last night it was life and death. Today we were on vacation.

Radio silence. Neither one spoke a word. All they did was trade grave looks.

"Okay. A private dinner with a celebrity chef, shopping, sightseeing and now the private with my favorite band. Great stuff. Amazing, really. But—"

"Your brother is just apologizing for being a dick. Let him. He's a billionaire you know," said Harmon nonchalantly while sipping on his Bourbon.

The same drink he had been nursing since we entered the venue.

"Give credit where it's due, Harmon. This is all him. The man you're not sleeping with planned all this shit for you in advance before my arrival. Isn't that nice of your second brother, Olive?" Billy said, his voice laced with suspicion.

I gulped, trying to appear calm as I slowly raised my head off Harmon's shoulder. He laid his hand on my head and gently guided it back down. My face moved on its own, my eyes snapping up to his.

"You did all this for me?" I asked stupidly, cautiously touching the pendant that still hung around my neck.

"I guess Will and I both have something to be sorry for," Harmon said, a soft smile gracing his lips, spreading across his face until it reached his eyes.

"What was it again that you had to be sorry for? Exactly what did you do to upset Olivia, Harmon? This whole day plus that pendant around her neck is a shit expensive apology. You must really love my sister, Harmon," said Billy, his distrust blatant.

"So no one is telling me why we're just pretending the mafia king circling us and his minions don't exist?" I asked, trying to change the subject as I moved to distance myself from Harmon once more.

"Yes, I do. I always have. What of it?" Harmon deadpanned in response to Billy, the indirect I love you hitting me like a bitch slap.

"This isn't how you treat your sister, Harmon. It's almost like you want a fuck. Is that why she suddenly can't leave your side?" Billy spat out, suddenly fuming.

"We've been over this. We can't leave because I don't know who tried to have me killed. Olivia is in danger by association. So are you. Travel isn't safe," Harmon continued, his voice stern and decisive.

That didn't mean he wasn't getting upset too. It just meant he hid it better than Billy.

"Wait, I thought you said Yamazaki was after me, not you," I said, tossing Harmon a look of alarm.

"There's enough danger to go around apparently. Here I was thinking you'd be safe because we weren't together," Harmon said, pursing his lips.

Was it stupid that all his excuses for not being with me sooner made me want to swoon? They didn't sound like red flags. He sounded conscientious. Caring. Concerned.

Ever my shield, aren't you daddy? Even from yourself. Until now.

"But parading her all over Tokyo so you can—" Billy began and I saw red.

"Stop it. What fucking good is your apology if you're going to continue to treat me like a slut?" I snapped, tears stinging at my eyes.

I nearly outed Harmon and I then and there.

All I wanted to do was confess. I bolted up from my chair and rejoined the band instead. Harmon may have just indirectly professed his love for me, but it wasn't enough. My yearning heart went into denial. Just Billy's kid sister. Loved me as a sister. He was pissed at Will for the way he was treating me. Didn't mean it romantically.

Didn't he though? Harmon signed the contract last night with such ease. There was peace in voice as he said he expected me to fulfill it. Said he was coming back to me, ready to give me anything I asked for. All these declarations and he couldn't say the one thing I wanted to hear. I needed those three little words.

Because it had to be love. I wouldn't tell my brother I was sort of dating/fucking a former underboss if it wasn't love.

"How do you feel about cutting the private short? Time to keep my promise and fuck you in front of your brother," Harmon whispered into my ear, coming up behind me as the band resumed playing their set.

The giggle erupted out of my mouth before I could stop it.

"You're not joking, are you?" I asked as his hand delicately landed on my shoulder.

Loud music flowing through the room. My fuming brother and a whole band watching. And yet I couldn't stop myself from leaning back against his chest. His arm wrapped around my neck.

"For the third time, Olive. Daddy doesn't joke about fucking you," he whispered huskily into my ear, sending a thrill through my body.

My eyes fell shut. My body relaxed. This wasn't the type of music you swayed to, but that was what we did anyway. No roaring crowd to share the enjoyment of the band with, but the moment was magic just the same. His other hand claimed mine.

I didn't respond to him, but somehow he knew what I needed. The longer we stayed this way, the more his body relaxed. He hadn't been able to enjoy the concert in a similar way. It was a moment of pure serenity. Something I had been chasing for years. I looked up at him over my shoulder. Our gazes locked and one more time the world around us disappeared.
