Harmon - She stays with me

Harmon - She stays with me
It made no sense. My fucking baby girl was playing dolls the first time I got my dick wet. And yet there only ever should have been her. I would take it all back if I could. Every last satisfying fuck. Every bit of sexual experience that I picked up along the way that made her scream like she was dying when I fucked her. Just to have her be my first.

"You have a fucking hardened mobster thinking weird shit, Olivia. I hope you're happy with yourself," I said into the room like she was right next to me, so used to being surrounded by her presence.

I snatched my ringing phone off the coffee table and answered the call without looking to see who it was, as I settled down on the cold couch. Away from her. Irritation flowed over me in waves, thinking of us spending the rest of the night apart.

"What?" I barked at my late night caller, my tired eyes closing, as I raised the phone to my ear.

"Is Helen of Troy okay?" Jack's urgent, low voice came through the speaker.

"No fucking thanks to Copycat. I want him dead. He sent The Dark Lord after Olivia. I fucking killed a Yakuza assassin tonight, Jack."

"Sy didn't take out the hit. He's been on a witch hunt. Tearing the island apart, looking for JR like a possessed man. Eats, sleeps, breathes finding her," said Jack, making my eyes snap open.

"So JR's fucking him. Of course she is," I concluded, having seen firsthand the effect JR had on people.

"If I were you, I'd decide on my next move and fucking fast. All bets are off once Sy finds JR. He's all over the place. Acting like a lovesick fool. There's no telling what he'll do next."

"Not going to ask where I am? Report back to your boss?"

"No one's my fucking boss. Stay with her, Chance. If Olivia's on the Yakuza's radar as well as Copycat's, you're Helen of Troy's only chance at staying alive. Stay safe, Boy Wonder. For the love of God, don't tell me—"

"I will kill you," Copycat's voice screamed over the phone. "You, your baby girl, anyone who ever came into contact with you. Do you fucking hear me?"

"You really are a dumb fuck. JR doesn't love you. She fucks you as a convenience. Any more hits taken out on Olivia—"

Copycat's annoying cackle broke through over the phone as I sat up, blood pumping. The thought of Olivia being in danger because this asshole thought JR was in love with him pissed me off.

"If someone tried to kill Olive, it wasn't my doing," he crowed over the phone. "I do my own fucking dirty work. I'll have your baby girl's blood all over me within the next twenty four hours unless you give JR back."

The arrogant son of a bitch that he was, he would have taken credit for the attempt on Olivia's life if it had been him. Fear of the unknown crept over me, giving me goosebumps. I rushed back into the common area as new possibilities popped into my head. Once I found my blazer, I picked it up and dug into the inner pocket.

"JR's doing you, Marino and every other person that she thinks she can use later on. I'm surprised she hasn't taken over from Marino by now," I continued to taunt him, hoping against hope he took credit for the attempted hit after all.

"Bait him all you want, it wasn't him, Chance. The Yakuza and the Italian mafia aren't on good terms. Haven't been for years. The Dark Lord wouldn't carry out a hit for Marino or his people in a million years," said Jack, making me curse repeatedly in my head

With a sigh, I retrieved the item I was searching for from my blazer's breast pocket. I turned the photograph I found on Yamazaki's person around.

The photograph had been folded in half. It wasn't just a photograph of Olivia at her graduation. Of course I was fucking right next to her. There was a red x drawn over my face.

Olivia wasn't the target of the hit. I was.

"Is JR dead? Fucking tell me where her body is," Copycat shrieked into the phone.

No, she wasn't dead. I wasn't that stupid. But telling him where she was would lose me any leverage I had. I couldn't afford to make myself an easy target for Marino. Especially after my latest discovery about the Yakuza.

"Twenty four hours. Give me time to find out how you pissed off the Yakuza. Clearly they fucking think I'm you. Let me clean up your mess. Then you can have your precious JR and the money," I said, before abruptly ending the call.

Did I really believe what I just said to Copycat? Was it possible I had more than one don looking for me? I couldn't recall any dealings that may have pissed off the Yakuza, but nothing was off the table.

"Hey man. Got you guys clothes and—"

I had my hand wrapped around Will's throat before he could get the rest out.

"What the fuck is your problem?" he croaked out.

I glared down at the bags in his hands. Replayed the phone call I just ended over and over in my head.

Two dons gunning for me. For her by association. Fuck what Will thought. Fuck the assholes trying to hurt my baby girl. There was only one certainty in this mess as fear of losing her coursed through me.

"She stays with me," I said, rapidly processing the new information at my disposal and adjusting the plan accordingly.

"We talked about this, Harmon," Will's strained voice objected.

"My apologies, Mr. Hunter. You seem to be labouring under a misconception," I said stoically, before my eyes turned razor sharp. "I'm nobody's bitch, Will. Not Marino's. Certainly not yours. I don't take orders unless it suits my purposes. My world. My call. She isn't fucking going anywhere," I declared, slivers of the man I used to be breaking through.

Adrenaline flowed through my veins. I went into survival mode. Killer Chance saw nothing but a hindrance in my best friend. My fingers tightened around his throat, gradually relieving him of his oxygen supply, daring him to oppose me.
