Chapter 280
280
They always thought Lawrence just didn't love Emily, but the fact that he could run the entire Parker Group showed he wasn't dumb.
But now, he was ditching his wife and kid for another woman.
Ezra, with a dark look on his face, couldn't hold back and kicked Lawrence.
"Emily's never done you wrong, and this is how you repay her? If you'd agreed to the divorce, she wouldn't have been hurt by some third party. Remember this, Lawrence, if Emily dies, it's on you!"
Ezra's voice was cold and harsh, his presence so intense it was suffocating.
Even Gray, standing nearby, was intimidated by Ezra's fury.
It was the first time he'd seen Ezra this angry.
His fists were clenched so tightly it looked like he was ready to kill.
"You just said Emily was being watched for a while. When did this start?"
Lawrence, enduring the intense pain, leaned against the railing, gasping for breath.
He had warned Emily to stay away from Beauty Sanctuary, thinking it would keep her safe.
He never imagined those people would target Emily too...
Hearing that Lawrence hadn't even considered Emily's safety, Ezra felt a deep chill in his heart.
"Emily's never had enemies, but right when you and Elise got involved, someone offered a high price for every piece of information about her."
"Lawrence, do you know when she was first targeted?"
Ezra's relentless questioning gave Lawrence no chance to catch his breath.
"Things have come to this, and you're still protecting that culprit. Can you look me in the eye and say this has nothing to do with your hidden lover?"
Lawrence knew he was in the wrong but also knew arguing now was pointless.
He thought carefully and asked, "Ezra, Gray, since you know Emily was being watched, did you find any useful clues at the time?"
"I suspect this isn't just Elise's doing; there's a bigger force behind her..."
"What do you mean? Are you trying to clear your lover's name?" Gray retorted.
Lawrence shook his head seriously. He remembered something he had overlooked and looked up at Ezra. "Ezra, when you were stationed abroad, did you ever hear of the Sanchez family?"
Ezra, with his years in politics, was naturally sharp and immediately caught on.
"Are you saying Emily might have been targeted by the Sanchez family and that's why she was harmed?"
Lawrence didn't believe Emily was really in danger, but hearing "harmed" repeatedly from Gray and Ezra made his heart ache.
Suppressing the pain, he continued, "It's confirmed that Elise was sent by this family to get close to me. If this explosion plot is connected to her, it means the Sanchez family is behind the attempt on Emily's life."
Ezra and Gray exchanged glances, not fully trusting Lawrence's words.
Especially Gray, who couldn't calm down to discuss the reasons behind it while Emily was still missing.
"Ezra, don't buy into his crap. Emily's disappearance is on him. We can figure out who's behind this later. Right now, I just want to make him pay."
"Gray, listen to me. I don't believe Emily is really..."
Gray couldn't hear another word. Just seeing Lawrence's face made him want to beat him up.
Ezra didn't intervene, and Lawrence's bodyguards, following previous orders, didn't dare step in, watching helplessly as Lawrence was beaten.
Just when they thought Lawrence might not make it, a man in a wheelchair was pushed in front of them.
"Stop it!"
Seeing the chaotic scene, especially Lawrence's battered face, Quincy frowned and called out to stop them.
"Gray, stop."
Recognizing Quincy, Gray threw one last punch at Lawrence before standing up angrily.
"You're Quincy? I know you care about Emily, but this has nothing to do with you. We're not going after the Parker family. How we deal with Lawrence is our business, not yours."
Gray's words clearly showed he thought Quincy was meddling.
Gray waved him off, but Quincy didn't leave. Instead, he wheeled himself closer to Gray.
"Gray, I know you're angry, but I'm here not just for Lawrence, but for Emily."
"What did you say?"
Gray raised an eyebrow, not believing his ears.
Quincy took a deep breath. "Because I believe Emily is still alive."
The words "she's still alive" instantly reignited hope in the three men.
But soon, Ezra and Gray lowered their heads, smiling bitterly.
They wanted to believe Emily was alive, but the explosion was so devastating. Not just people, but even cars were burnt to a crisp.
And the incident happened at the Bridge of Horizons, with no escape route except the sea.
How could they believe a pregnant woman survived such a disaster...
"Quincy, I know you're trying to save Lawrence, but do you believe your own words? Emily's car was consumed by flames. How can we believe she's still alive?"
"Leave!"
Gray, filled with grief and anger, motioned for Quincy to leave.
Otherwise, he might lose control and hit Quincy too.
Seeing this, Quincy knew the three men were deeply grieving and wouldn't believe him.
The only one who might believe him was Lawrence, who, despite being beaten, struggled to sit up.
"Quincy, say it again?"
Lawrence's voice was hoarse. Whether it was true or not, he was grateful for Quincy's words.
Nothing could make him happier than someone believing Emily was still alive.
"It's true, Emily is really okay."
Knowing they didn't believe him, Quincy took out his phone, played a video, and showed it to Ezra and Gray.
"Ezra, Gray, look. Before the accident, Emily's car never got on the bridge."
