(Devan's POV).
"For the last auction, a special from Miss Vivian Harrow. Dinner with her. Just the two of you!"
My eyes widened. I couldn't believe what I was seeing before my eyes. A woman with the same face as Freya, but introduced with a different name.
How could that be?
I stare at her intently. She stood there, looking so calm while everyone else was already shouting and holding up their number boards.
"We'll start at 500 dollars!"
"1000 dollars!"
"1200 dollars!"
"2000 dollars!"
"5000 dollars!"
"Five million dollars!" I held my number up. And I heard everyone's surprise at my offer.
As I dropped my gaze back to her, our eyes met. They really did have the same face.
"Alright. Does anyone want to bid again? No? In that case, the voucher for dinner with Miss Vivian Harrow goes to the man with board number 20!"
I heard the gavel tap and she walked off the stage. I hurriedly left my seat and went backstage.
Just then I saw her coming out of a room and I quickly went over to her. I pulled her arm so hard that it startled her.
"Sir, what are you doing?!" she snapped. Her blue eyes widened in surprise.
I swallowed my saliva with difficulty. Looked her up and down. They were the same. Their faces and voices.
She really looks like Freya.
"Freya!" I hugged her. And I felt her push me away.
"Sir, let go of me. What are you doing!" she protests.
I hug her back as she manages to break free.
"Where have you been all this time? Don't you know how hard I've been looking for you?" I whispered.
I almost cried as I hugged her. The figure I had been missing and now she was in my arms. God... I missed the scent of her body more than anything.
"Stop it!" she yelled. Pushing me hard and slapping my face. "Are you out of your mind!? Why are you suddenly hugging me?!"
"Freya..."
"And I'm not Freya. I'm Vivian Harrow," she said with bulging eyes.
"No, you're not. You're Freya... stop bullshitting me. I know it's you..." I brushed her cheek with the palm of my hand, and she brushed it away roughly.
"Sir, it seems you've had too much to drink. I told you that I'm not Freya. You're misrecognizing people, sir."
"Sir?" I chuckled. "What kind of joke is this?"
"I'm not joking. And please behave yourself. I know you've had a hand in this auction, and I thank you, but that doesn't mean you can do whatever you want to me."
No, it doesn't. Impossible.
I shook my head. Staring at her in disbelief. There was no way I could have recognized the wrong person. It was obvious that she was Freya.
I groaned, looking at her sadly.
"Does it hurt?" She almost touched my cheek which she had slapped earlier. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to slap you. You just suddenly came and hugged me. How could I not be scared if a stranger suddenly did something like that to me."
"A stranger?" I smiled wryly.
"Umm, Sorry, Sir. But I have to go now..."
"No, wait." I pulled her hand as she walked away.
"What's wrong? Is this related to our dinner? Look, you have to take care of the payment first and the staff will tell you when and where we're having dinner," she said.
I kept looking at her. Although their faces arrived, her demeanor and the way she spoke were slightly different from Freya's. She, whom they call Vivian, is more calm and mature. Or was it because we hadn't seen each other for a long time?
But she keeps insisting that she's not Freya. I had to make sure.
"It's not about dinner," I whisper.
"Then what is?"
"You're Vivian Harrow?"
"Yes, that's me."
"Are you sure you're not lying to me?"
"Lying? Why would I lie to you? This is the first time we've ever met, sir," she said.
I looked at her intently. She spoke as if she was telling the truth. There was no nervousness on her face.
Was she really Vivian and not Freya? But I still didn't believe her.
"You could be lying."
"And for what reason would I lie to you?"
I paused as her blue eyes stared at me.
"Vivian, what are you doing there?" I turned my head to the side, and I saw a man standing a few meters away from us. Staring at us with his intimidating black eyes.
I felt Vivian push me and approach him.
"Oh, Tristan. It’s nothing.” I saw him grab her waist. “Sorry, did you wait long?" she said.
My hands clenched into fists as I watched him hug her. It seemed they were so close.
"It's okay. I'm just worried because you haven't come back yet." He looked at me with his sharp eyes. "Who is he? Is he your friend?"
"He's the guy who bought the auction dinner with me," she replied.
"Vivian. Why are you so careless? I told you not to do something silly like this. We don't know the ins and outs of the man you're having dinner with. Whether he's good or badー"
"Watch your language. I can hear it from here. And I'm not a bad person," I cut him off with a harsh tone. Staring at him sharply.
"Sorry." He smiled awkwardly.
"We'd better get going," she said. I pulled her hand back as she was about to leave. With a clear look of disappointment on my face.
"Wait. I haven't finished talking yet...."
"I'm sorry, but I still have some business. We can chat when we have dinner later." She smiled at me.
As I watched them leave with him hugging her. My eyes darkened with jealousy.
I was pretty sure that she wa Freya. And I was going to confirm it again. For four years I'd been looking for her and now that I'd met her again, I wouldn't waste this opportunity.
I had to get her back.
