(Freya's POV)
I wiped away the tears that kept flowing. My heart broke when I saw Devan's time like that. I can imagine what he was like when he lost his way when I left him. Now he has become a different man from the one I used to know.
Now he is so gentle and caring, giving in more and not using violence. He also no longer gets emotionally triggered whenever there is a problem. He is more mature and gentle than before.
We were both in the process of getting better when we were apart. And I feel grateful that we're back together with a much better version of ourselves. And I will never leave him again, no matter what.
"What's wrong? Are you crying?" Devan suddenly came into the kitchen and caught me crying. With a panicked look on his face, he ran straight to me. "What happened? Did you hurt yourself? Let me see?" he pulled my hand to check if I was hit by a knife.
"Dev, I'm fine. No one got hurt," I told him. I was quite surprised at his worried reaction.
"Then why are you crying?" he asked, looking at me with a furrowed brow. "You made her cry?" he glanced sharply at Aiden who was standing behind me.
"Wh-What? I didn't do anything!" he exclaimed defensively.
"Dev, Aiden didn't do anything to me," I said, trying to calm him down. "I just accidentally touched my face when I was holding the onion," I lied.
"Are you sure?" he looked at me suspiciously. But I knew he was acting like that because he cared and worried about me.
"Yes. I'm fine. I'll wash my face first," I said. I quickly washed my face with water and as I turned around, I still saw Devan there looking at me.
"Feeling better?" he asked as he reached out to me. He checked my eyes carefully and wiped away the few drops of water that still lingered on my face.
I nodded with a smile. It feels so happy when we are treated well by our partner. It's like a dream and I don't want to wake up.
"Have you set up the grill and the seats?" I asked him.
"It's done. I'm here to help you," he informed me.
"Am I still useful here? Or should I sit on the couch and rest while you guys can play out the drama of husband and wife together in the kitchen?" I turned to Aiden who was flirting with me.
"Aiden, don't start again," I protested.
He chuckled. "Well, I'll leave you guys to get the coals ready on the grill," he said, making another excuse to leave the kitchen. He was overly sensitive as a sister-in-law and I liked the way he made me have plenty of alone time with Devan.
"Are you sure that bastard didn't bother you enough to make you cry?" I gasped in surprise when I heard Devan's question. He looked at me with a serious expression on his face. Still not satisfied with my answer.
"Yes. How could Aiden bother me," I told him. I kissed his lips to put him back in a good mood. "Can you help me wash the vegetables over there?"
He looked at me for a long time. It was as if he was trying to read my mind.
"I'm fine. Trust me," I said. I kissed his lips again, but he kissed me back and crushed them impatiently.
"Ah, Dev…." I squealed as he pushed my body into the table behind me. I almost knocked over the bottle of who knows what on the edge of the table.
He growled after he stopped kissing me. "I want to spend more time alone with you," he complained.
"We still have a lot of time," I said. I played with his t-shirt with a blush on my cheeks. Luckily, Aiden was out of the room and didn't see us kissing.
"Can we have a honeymoon after we go back to New York?"
"Wh-What?!" I gaped in disbelief at his words.
We're even too old for a Honeymoon. I mean, not so old, but we even have a four-year-old. So what are we honeymooning for?
"We've never been on a honeymoon, Fey," he confessed, "our marriage... Well, I want to do all the things I've never done for you in the past. Can we do that?"
"Oh, that's..." I looked down in shame. To be honest, I wanted him too because, during our marriage, we just fought all the time because he kept being rude to me. I even felt that our marriage didn't have any happiness in it.
"If you don't want to, that's fine. I won't force you," he said. His voice sounded low and disappointed.
"Alright," I said quickly. He looked at me in disbelief.
"Really?"
I nodded with a big smile. "Yeah…"
"Oh, fuck. I'm getting crazy about you," he grinned with satisfaction. His hands tightened around my waist. I chuckled as he kissed my lips and bit them in a teasing motion. "Is there somewhere you want to go? I'll grant you whatever you want."
"A place? Umm... I don't know yet, but I'll think about it. I'll let you know as soon as possible," I said. I pushed her gently. "Now, you can let me go so I can get back to preparing the food for the guests. It's getting late and they'll be arriving soon," I said.
I chuckled when he growled in protest against letting me go, but in the end, he did so half-heartedly. Occasionally he kissed my lips as he helped me prepare food in the kitchen.
At that moment, I heard the bell ring. I saw Aiden, who was sitting in the living room, running to the door to greet Harry and Stella.
"They're here," I said to Devan.
I walked over to Stella in a hurry and hugged her. Harry also came and stood behind her.
"Welcome Stella, Harry," I greeted them.
"Wow! This is the best house I've ever been to. Freya, you are so lucky to have a Billionaire husband like Deva," she said, teasing me.
I just smiled in response to Stella's words. I felt Devan wrap his arms around my waist.
"Welcome," he said, greeting Stella and Harry. I glanced at Devan who was watching Harry. "You came too?" he asked.
"Dev, don't fight," I quickly warned Devan as I noticed Devan's jealous look at Harry. I am panicked.
I hope tonight's party won't turn into chaos.
