(Devan's POV).
My plane had landed and I had exited the airport area. And I had previously contacted Viona's family and told them that, if Viona came to them, I asked them to tell Viona that tonight I would meet her at an empty building on the edge of town.
I had also sent the address to Viona's parents because I knew that they had been the ones who had helped hide Viona all this time.
"Have you heard back from them?" asked Jason, who was standing in front of me.
"Not yet, but I'm sure they told Viona. She wouldn't have gotten away so easily without her parents' help. Because they have a lot of connections," I told him.
"How are Adam and Freya?"
"They're fine, but I haven't told Freya that it was Viona who hired someone to run over Adam. She already knows that Viona killed Theo, so I don't want to shock her further with the current situation," I told her.
"Then when are you going to tell her? She needs to know about all this, Dev."
"After all this is over, I will go back to her and tell her everything that has happened. But before that, I need to make sure Viona's in jail first. If I tell Freya right now, she'll be frustrated that Viona is still a fugitive. And that would further burden her mind with a lot of problems," I said.
"As you wish. I'll help you take care of everything. I've also asked my detective friend to stand guard at the building where you met Viona," Jason said.
"Alright. For now, I should be alone first so as not to be suspicious. I'm afraid that Viona will have someone watching me and think that it was a trap."
Jason and I quickly left the airport area and went back to my apartment by ourselves.
***
At around eight in the night, I left my apartment. I drove in my car to an old abandoned building to meet Viona. I wasn't sure if Viona would come there or not, but I needed to make sure myself.
As I got out of the car, I saw the sign of Jason who was hiding along with the other detectives who were already set up in their respective positions. And I entered the building which was dimly lit due to the lack of lighting.
I waited there for over an hour and Viona still hadn't shown up. When I heard footsteps from behind me, I immediately turned my head with alarm.
My eyes widened in surprise as I saw Viona coming towards me with a gun in her hand. Her eyes were red with anger and her appearance was disheveled. I was sure she had been trying desperately to escape.
"Viona," I called out.
She stood a few steps away from me. With her gun pointed at me, he looked at me intently.
"I should have killed Freya earlier instead of her brother," she said in a trembling voice.
"Please stop all this, Viona. Don't you realize that what you've been doing is a crime? You killed Theo and now you're trying to kill Freya's son? He's still a child! he's innocent," I told her. I tried to remain calm, and not get emotional because I was afraid it would make Viona lose her temper and do something bad.
I had to keep her calm and stay here until I gave the signal for the detectives to arrest her.
"I heard that he's your son," she said, "did you feel so happy after finding out that Vivian is Freya and you have a child with her? You're throwing me away like trash, Dev! I've always loved you... for a long time, but why did you push me away? Why didn't you choose me and chose a bitch like her instead?!" she shouted.
She continued to point the gun at me with her trembling hands. I extended my hand towards her, trying to get her to stay calm.
"Viona..." I swallowed hard. "I told you that I love you as family. I already think of you as my sisterー"
"I don't want to be your family or your sister, Dev!" she yelled, cutting me off. "I want to be next to you as the woman you love, and not Freya! Don't you see how sincere my love for you is? Why should you choose her and not me? You should have consistently hated her instead of loving her!" she shouted hysterically.
I swallowed my saliva with difficulty. She had lost her control and I was afraid she would shoot me. But I try to remain calm.
"I thought killing Theo would make you and Freya's relationship even worse," she smiled wryly. "I should have killed Freya instead. So that only I could have you. But I've changed my thinking...." she looked at me. Preparing to shoot me with her sharp eyes.
"Viona, please .... Whatever you're thinking right now, don't do it. This is not you as I know. Viona, you should turn yourself into the police and accept your punishment. It's the only way to pay for all the crimes you've committed," I said. I took a step back to avoid her.
"Don't move, Dev!" she shouted hysterically. "I've been destroyed. And I don't care about anything anymore. You're the one who made me this way, Dev. You're the one who should be responsible."
"Viona... please," I whispered.
She was sobbing. Her hand holding the gun shook violently. "If I can't have you, then no one else should have you either, Dev."
"V-Vionaー"
"You better disappear from this world so that both Freya and I can't have you!!!" she shouted. I widened my eyes in surprise as he squeezed the trigger and the gun aimed right at me before I could escape.
I fell to the floor with blood pouring out of my body. My vision was blurred and I felt a crazy amount of pain.
I heard another gunshot ring out and it came from the detectives who had run towards us. I faintly saw Viona being caught by them and Jason running with his pale face.
"Shit! Dev!" he yelled as he scooted next to me.
