(Freya's POV).
Today I don't have the energy for activities, but I still have to open the flower shop and take care of everything before I go to my course studio.
Yesterday, I immediately left Devan's hotel after what happened between the two of us. I made it clear to him that I couldn't go back to him. This was a decision I made and I didn't want to make things any more complicated.
I still like Devan, but it feels like it's hard to fix all the broken things. I was too tired and it was probably better if I lived my life alone with Adam.
"So, what happened with you two?" asked Stella. She kept asking me about Devan and I just kept quiet without daring to tell her everything that happened.
I didn't want Stella to know about Devan. It wasn't that I didn't want to be honest with her, it was just that I felt that it wasn't important anymore. After all, Devan won't bother me anymore either because I'm sure he must have left here.
He had to accept my decision to live our respective lives. And I'm sure she understands it too, even though she kept begging me to come back to her.
"Nothing happened, Stella. He's just my friend. He came here just to say hello and I happened to faint, so he helped me," I told her, "how many times do I have to tell you that we're just right," I insisted.
I even glared at her but she just smiled broadly displaying her well-lined teeth. I couldn't handle her great curiosity which sometimes made it difficult for me to answer her.
"But from his voice, the way he talked about your condition that night. He sounds like he's more than just a friend," Stella said, walking up to me.
"Come on, Stella. How long are you going to drag this out? I'm so bored," I complained.
"Until you're honest with me. Come on, it doesn't hurt to be honest. Or maybe he is...."
"Stella, if you can't shut up. I'll put this cloth in your mouth. How about it? Do you want it?" I said as I lifted the cloth I was using to clean into the air. Preparing to put it in Stella's mouth.
She clucked in annoyance. "Alright, I give up," she said. She walked over to the cashier's desk to check on some scrap orders from customers.
I breathed a sigh of relief when she stopped asking about Devan. If not, I would have gagged her mouth with a cloth because I was too upset.
At that moment, I heard the sound of the bell that rang whenever someone entered the store.
"Welcome. ...." My voice was muffled as I stared at the door and I saw Devan's appearance. My eyes widened and I reflexively stepped back in surprise, almost falling over if I hadn't held on to the flower shelf.
"Oh, welcome! We're not open yet, but if you'd like to order flowers to pick up later, we'd be happy to oblige," Stella said with a friendly smile. She immediately ran over to me as Devan also walked towards me.
"Do I need to buy flowers?"
"Pardon? But this is a flower shop, of course, you need to buy flowers if you come here, sir. Umm ... there's even a sign and some vases in front of the shop," said Stella.
I was so shocked that I couldn't say anything. I just looked straight at Devan. I thought he was gone. I thought he wouldn't show up again and bother me. But what is this? Why did he come here?!
"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you ... never mind. Come with me..." I tried to drag Devan out of there, but he stood there like a statue.
"Freya, what's wrong? Why are you ... do you know him?!" exclaimed Stella.
"Freya," called Devan.
I swallowed hard. I quickly let go of Devan's hand and looked at Stella. "No, I don't know him," I said, looking away.
"I'm her husband."
I gasped in shock when I heard Devan's words. I glared at him and he grinned at me.
"Husband?!" Stella yelled so loud it hurt my ears.
"Stop talking nonsense, Dev!"
"Oh my God, Freya! I never knew your husband was this handsome!" cried Stella hysterically.
"Don't listen to what he says. He is not my husband!" I shouted in protest. But instead, I felt Devan's arm around my waist.
"Don't hide it. It's not good, honey," he whispered in my ear.
I shuddered in horror at his crazy behavior. "Dev, you must be crazy!" I shouted. I quickly moved away from him and glared at him.
"Wow! Wait ... your voice sounds like the guy I spoke to on the phone last night," Stella said.
"Oh, are you Freya's friend? She was with me last night. She fainted and I took care of her."
"Oh, shit!"
"Stella, enough. You too, Dev. Come with me right now!" I cried.
"I'm not going anywhere, Freya," he insists.
"Are you out of your mind?!" I snapped.
I didn't want my relationship with Devan to be known by many people. I just wanted a quiet life, but why wouldn't Devan listen to me at all?
"What do you really want, Dev!" I exclaimed in exasperation.
"I just want to take you home with Adam," he said.
"We're not going anywhere. And you have no right to do that!" I shouted.
"Freya, calm down. What's going on?" Stella held my arm. She tried to calm me down, but I couldn't control my temper.
"Get out of here before I call the police, Dev," I snapped.
"Do you think I'm just going to walk away after the effort I put into finding you? Come home with me, Freya. With Adam too."
"With you? Who do you think you are? You're not my husband anymore! And our relationship ended four years ago. That is if you still remember it."
I squeezed the hem of my clothes with an uneasy feeling. I never expected this to happen, but things didn't go as I expected.
"Freya...."
"Please, Dev. Please..." I begged him.
At that moment I heard Devan's cell phone ring and he immediately picked it up.
"Hm. Yes. I'll be right there," he said, talking to someone on the phone. I didn't know who he was talking to, but it seemed like an important call.
Devan put his cell phone back in his coat pocket and looked at me. "I have an urgent matter, so I have to leave immediately."
"I don't care. Go away and never come back here again," I snapped, glaring at him.
"I'll keep coming until you decide to come back to me, Freya," he said.
I looked at Devan who walked out of the shop and bumped into Harry. This is not what I wanted.
