Emma's Death

Emma's Death
Emma

“What the fuck happened here? Tell me, Liam Anderson.” I scolded, grabbing him by the collar. I gave no flying fucks, we had a thing together. And his hesitation was pissing me the hell off.

“Fucking speak, Liam,” I tugged him back and forth. Why was he hesitating if he wasn’t the one?

“Ma’am, you need to calm down,” The nurse tried to pull me away from Liam, and she did succeed, but that earned a hard push that sent her straight to the ground. She was lucky she didn’t hit her head on the ground; she would have suffered a concussion.

I made a sharp turn to Liam, and that was when he spilled it. His words cut through me like a knife.

“It was your Father.”

I chuckled, shaking my head. How could my father know where we are? He said it himself; he brought us here, to a place no one would notice us, yet my father somehow tracked us down. That half-sober walking human?

I turned away, and a knife sliced across my chest at the body fully covering my body. I couldn’t even see her face. It was painful seeing the edges and surfaces of her body, but knowing that we have been separated by death and life.

“He had been following you, right from my penthouse. It seems he has been keeping track of you.”

I didn’t turn to Liam because I didn’t believe him, and I was slowly starting to think this was a cover-up; he was hiding something from me, or he did this. I marched out of the hospital room, only to stumble upon a slim figure. It was Selena and then Grace on the side, and they both had a smile that disappeared really quickly when they caught the look on my face. Grace didn’t ask a question as she darted her gaze behind me, while Selena reached and pulled me to her embrace. Something or someone had fallen to the ground, and I guess it was Grace. Now I just wanted this all to pass; I wanted it to be a nightmare that I could wake up from or a vision that I could stop. But Derek’s soft parting made me realize that it was impossible.

I stayed in Selena’s embrace for a while until Derek spoke. It seemed he had walked past me to Liam for a while now.

“It was him, wasn’t it?”

“What do you mean by him?” I questioned after a sharp turn to them. It felt wrong for me to be able to view the body from the side of my eyes.

“Liam asked me to investigate who sent the dollhead to your apartment, and we discovered it was your father. There are also traces that he has been following you around.”

Cold ran through my fingertips, everything began to blur at first, and I could even hear ringing in my head. But I pushed, slowly walking to Liam, this time not pulling him by his collar or trying to force him to speak; this time I spoke gently, ready to believe him.

“Is it true, did my father come here and do this? Did you meet him? Or…have you been meeting him?” I don’t know where the last question came from or how it came about, but it suddenly made sense to ask. Because if he had met him, if he had known about this going on, why didn’t he tell me sooner? He had Derek investigate my father? That means he knew something was going on. How could he have hidden that from me?

“I’m sorry,” He whispered, dropping his head.

“I first bumped into him, the night I kept you at the penthouse and my mother walked in on us, he had run off before I could recognize it was him, and I was scared to–”

“How can you be scared to tell me, Liam, it is my problem?” I yelled, jabbing my finger into his chest. I had had enough, I didn’t want to listen, and I couldn’t bear watching my Grandmother being rolled to the mogue, so I ran away.

The rain had begun falling heavily, drowning the voice of Liam chasing after me, and also mixed with the tears falling down my face. I had wished to get hit by a truck, lose my memories forever, or just die. But the minute I stepped onto the road, I was forcefully pulled away, falling onto Liam’s body.

“Emma, you need to get it together!” He yelled through the sharp sounds of rain pouring. I tried to push away from him, but his hands were holding me down to him tightly.

“Let me go!” I  began hitting his chest so hard, like he was some punching bag.

“I’m sorry, it’s all my fault, I caused this,” He kept yelling continuously, and I kept sobbing. We were both under the heavy rain, Liam held me tight while I wept against his shoulders. I had gotten weak, too weak to cry at some point; I wasn't even aware when he carried me all the way to a hotel. I guessed it was the one he booked to stay in till Grandmother was in charge. Just the thought of her, the thought of being close to a normal life, which I had lost, made my heart ache. I swallowed it as Liam helped me with drying my hair. He had helped me change out of my clothes and all, but he was still in his wet clothes. Did I hate him for hiding things from me? Did I blame him? I wanted to, but I couldn't bring myself to.

So after we were both lying in the bed, Liam deep in sleep, I snuck out of the room and made my way to the rooftop. It first started with receiving some fresh air till I reached the end, and the great urge to let it all go right there began to arise.

Perhaps this was the solution. My death.
