Chapter 171
Chapter 171
"What a bunch of weirdos — willing to throw away their boss and their own lives just for money." William let out a helpless sigh, waved them over, and said flatly, "Fine then. Come at me."
He had no interest in wasting any more words on these people. There was nothing useful to get out of them anyway.
"We were going to do that whether you said so or not." The men exchanged glances, then lunged at William with their weapons aimed straight at his heart.
William grabbed the attacker's wrist and drove his fist hard into the man's chest.
The force sent him flying, and even the men standing behind him were knocked back several steps.
Before they could recover, William was already in their faces.
"Damn it, this guy's way stronger than I thought!"
"Fall back!"
"No, I'm killing him and taking the whole bounty for myself!"
The group instantly turned on each other, but they kept attacking William without stopping.
It didn't matter. William was clearly on a different level. No matter how well they tried to work together, they couldn't keep up with him.
"Thinking about running now? Too late." The corner of William's mouth curved up as he grabbed one of them by the head and slammed him down hard.
Punch after punch. They managed to hold on for a while, but as their numbers dropped, they couldn't hold out any longer.
"Useless, all of you. I told you to leave and you wouldn't listen. Now look — you're just making more work for me." William pulled out his phone to call someone to come clean up the mess.
But the moment he took it out, he saw a call coming in from Fenrir.
"Warden, we've got a problem. Three vehicles are tailing us." Fenrir reported to William while keeping his eyes on the road.
"Three vehicles? You can handle that on your own. Why are you calling me?" William frowned. Since when did he have to deal with something this small?
"If they were regular cars, I wouldn't be calling you. But these are three large trucks." No matter how fast he pushed the car, the vehicles behind him stayed right on his tail — and were even closing the gap.
"Hold on. I'm on my way." William's frown deepened. He hadn't expected something like this.
"Got it. I'll hold out. Sending you my location now." Fenrir finished the call, quickly pulled the car over to the side, and turned to Claire and the others. "Ladies, please get out. We need to take a different route."
"Okay." They answered at the same time and quickly followed Fenrir out of the car.
The three of them moved fast toward an alley in the distance. As they left, they glanced back.
One of the large trucks plowed straight into their car, crushing it flat. Over a dozen men climbed out and started heading their way.
"After them — they're right there!" A bald man pointed ahead and shouted.
"There are only a few of them, but we're not too far from the Brown family estate. Can you two make it on foot?" Fenrir asked Claire.
Claire gave a firm nod. "We'll do our best to get back and bring help. Don't push yourself too hard."
"Don't worry. Holding these guys off is nothing." Fenrir waved them off.
"Be careful." Nora grabbed Claire's hand and they ran toward the Brown family estate as fast as they could.
But the men barely even glanced at the two of them running away. Their eyes stayed locked on Fenrir.
"So I'm the one they're after. That makes things simpler." Fenrir rolled his shoulders and walked toward them.
"He's not running — he's actually coming toward us?" The bald man's mouth curled into a smirk. He raised his hand and signaled his men to attack.
Fenrir stopped and pulled out his knife. "I'll only say this once. If you're not planning to leave, you might not make it out of here alive."
"You and that little knife of yours? Don't make me laugh."
"Move." A few of them exchanged looks and charged at him first.
Two came from the left. Fenrir didn't even look. He flicked the knife to the left and it hit the target clean in the throat. He spun right, grabbed the second man's head, and knocked him out cold with one punch.
"Anyone else want to keep going?" Fenrir asked, his eyes turning red.
The men who had been ready to attack froze — and took a few steps back. "That killing intent... it's terrifying."
"What the hell are you all scared of? There's one guy. One. And there's a whole group of us." The bald man stepped forward and charged at Fenrir himself.
But none of his men followed. They just stood there watching.
"Your own guys won't even back you up." Fenrir dodged the punch and said with a cold smirk, "Looks like you're not much of a leader, are you?"
The bald man's face went red with rage. He clenched his fist and swung down hard. "Shut your mouth!"
"What, you're angry? Guess you're not all that either — can't even keep your own emotions in check." Fenrir let out a short, cold laugh.
"I said shut up!" The bald man suddenly pulled out a gun and fired at Fenrir.
The bullet hit Fenrir in the arm and sent him stumbling back several steps.
"Doesn't matter how tough you are — you're still human. And humans can't dodge bullets." The bald man walked toward him with the gun raised. "You were talking pretty big a second ago. Why'd you stop?"
"I'm waiting for the right moment. You'd better not take your eyes off me — because the second you do, I can kill you just like that." Fenrir said coldly.
The bald man let out a scornful laugh and kicked Fenrir hard in the chest. "Go ahead then. I'm giving you the chance. Kill me if you've got what it takes."
Fenrir struggled to his feet, eyes red. "No need. Because the person I've been waiting for is already here."
"So what if you've got backup? Can he stop bullets too?" The bald man sneered.
Then, from right behind him, came a voice — ice cold.
"Why would I bother going up against your gun when I can just take care of you from behind?"
"What—" The bald man spun around and found a tall figure standing directly behind him.
Before he could raise the gun, a large hand closed around his throat.
William lifted him off the ground. "It's time for you to die."
"Don't kill me — I know secrets about those people. I'll tell you everything!" Just who the hell is this guy? How is he this strong?
"Why would I want your secrets? There's only one thing I need to know — and that's that every last one of you dies here."
His neck snapped in an instant. The bald man, who had been struggling just a moment before, went completely still.
