Magnus nodded immediately. "Of course, Daddy is a strong man. If he promises Maxime something, he will make sure to do it."
"Daddy is so great! Daddy is the best! I love Daddy the most!" Maxime happily jumped up and down in his arms.
Senna's face immediately turned dark. "This little brat has no conscience. You've been bought with just a gaming console. If Mommy doesn't buy you one, you'll hate Mommy, right? Hmm?"
When Maxime saw that his mother's face darkened, he immediately slipped out of Magnus's arms, hugged her arm, and coquettishly said, "No, no, Mommy, don't be mad, I love Mommy the most... the most... the most..." He said 'the most' many times in one breath.
Senna chuckled. "Good thing you still know you love Mommy the most... Otherwise, I wouldn't want you anymore."
Maxime immediately pouted his little lips and said, "No, no, no..."
"Alright, Maxime, Mommy needs to rest more to recover. You go back to Rosewood Manor with Uncle Edric."
As the time was getting late, Magnus called Edric in to take him back.
"Maxime doesn't know anyone at Rosewood Manor. He'll be uncomfortable. You should go back with him. I'm feeling much better today, so you don't need to worry about me." Senna said with concern.
"I can't leave you alone here, I'm worried." Magnus held her hand, his face full of reluctance. He wanted to stay by her side.
"Don't be like this. Maxime really needs you, and now no one is a threat to me. I'll be fine." Senna also hoped that the father and son could spend time together and develop their bond.
Under Senna's insistence, Magnus had no choice but to take Maxime and leave. Before leaving, he instructed the bodyguards to keep an eye on things.
Senna was still very weak, and due to being pregnant, she felt especially sleepy. Not long after nightfall, she fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, in a daze, she heard the sound of the door being gently pushed open, followed by the sound of a cart. She thought it was the nurse doing rounds and didn't pay much attention, until she felt a malicious presence.
Just as she opened her eyes, a pillow was suddenly pressed onto her face, and someone forcefully held it down.
"Mm-mm-mm..." Senna was greatly shocked and quickly woke up, struggling fiercely.
At that moment, a familiar voice filled her ears, dripping with intense murderous intent: "Bitch, you killed my Astrid. I'll make you pay with your life. Die..."
It was Mrs. Thorne, here to avenge Astrid.
Her breath was slowly being suffocated out, and the feeling of suffocation made her head go blank.
No, she couldn't die. There was still a baby in her belly. She had endured so much pain and hardship these past three years, and happiness was within reach. She wasn't willing to give it up.
Senna struggled with all her might, her hand reaching for the water cup on the nightstand. She immediately grabbed it and threw it with all her strength. With a loud bang, the water cup hit Mrs. Thorne on the head.
A sharp pain spread through Mrs. Thorne's head, and with a scream, she loosened her grip.
Senna quickly jumped off the bed from the other side and shouted, "Help!"
The bodyguards, who had been standing guard outside, rushed in. Mrs. Thorne saw a fruit knife on the table and immediately ran to grab it, aiming it at Senna. She knew that if she didn't avenge Astrid tonight, she might never have another chance.
The sharp knife gleamed coldly. Senna screamed in fear, "Help!"
"Stop!" The bodyguards, seeing the situation was critical, had no choice but to fire.
Bang! Bang!
With several gunshots, the strong smell of blood filled the room.
Mrs. Thorne, dressed in a nurse's uniform, pretending to be a nurse to commit murder, fell to the ground with a loud thud. Her eyes were wide open, unwilling to close.
"Senna!" Worried after putting Maxime to sleep, Magnus rushed to the hospital and heard the gunshots from a distance. His heart nearly stopped as he rushed in.
"Magnus." Senna, pale with fear, immediately ran to him, throwing herself into his arms, trembling in his embrace.
"Sir, she pretended to be a nurse and came to kill the young madam." The bodyguard immediately reported.
Magnus held Senna tightly, his eyes showing a ruthless glare. "Damn it, drag her out and feed her to the dogs."
"Dear, Dear..." At that moment, Mr. Thorne hurried in. When he saw Mrs. Thorne lying in a pool of blood, he was struck as though by lightning. He rushed over to hold her, crying bitterly, "Oh Dear, why are you so foolish, my wife..."
Senna, seeing her father crying so heartbroken, felt a little sorry for him. She tugged at Magnus's shirt and softly said, "Forget it, let's go. I don't want to stay in the hospital. I want to go home."
She didn't feel sorry for Mrs. Thorne. This was her own doing. She had indulged her daughter's wickedness and never corrected it. Now, she was finally reaping what she had sown.
"Okay, I'll take you home." Magnus, unwilling to let her out of his sight, picked her up and carried her out, instructing the bodyguards to call the family doctor to wait at Rosewood Manor.
From this moment on, he would never leave her side.
Senna, still shaken, lay in his arms, looking back at Mr. Thorne, who was crying over her stepmother's body. The grief was overwhelming, and anyone who heard it would be moved to tears.
All the grudges had finally come to an end. One should never do evil; those who act unjustly will ultimately destroy themselves. The cycle of karma is true-don't believe it? Just look up at the sky, it doesn't spare anyone.
