Chapter 266 Don't mess with me, bro.
Chapter 266 Don't mess with me, bro.
Dinner was a family affair at the Bluefield household.
The atmosphere around the table was warm and pleasant.
After dinner, Evan and Ariana exchanged a glance.
"Mom, Dad, Ariana wants to check out my studio. I'm going to take her there, and we might not be back tonight."
Stella opened her mouth to say something but then swallowed her words.
Since her brother mentioned taking Ariana and not her, she knew she would just be an extra.
That's right, she felt out of place everywhere now.
"Alright, you two go ahead and take care of Ariana," Autumn said without adding anything unnecessary.
Ariana had just returned to the family, and with so many siblings, she needed to spend more time with her brothers.
Autumn thought it was important.
So, Evan took Ariana and headed out the door.
Evan drove the car himself, with Ariana sitting in the passenger seat.
"You're already engaged, is there really a need to keep it a secret?" Evan chuckled softly.
Ariana jolted in surprise; she hadn't been honest with Evan. She had told him she wanted to have a sleepover with friends, worried her family might fret about a girl staying out all night, so she asked Evan to cover for her. Little did she know, Evan had figured out she was actually planning to meet Lucas.
"I..."
"You don't need to lie to me. Just be honest. You're young, dating is understandable."
Ariana stuck out her tongue playfully. "It's a bit sneaky, isn't it?"
"Are you really going to marry Lucas?"
"Yeah," Ariana replied, "but it seems like the family has some opinions about him."
"Not really. Mom and Dad watched him grow up. Lucas was a bit of a rascal as a kid. If he were just a friend's son, they'd call him mischievous. But as a potential son-in-law, the standards are different."
"How much of a rascal was he?"
Evan turned to look at Ariana. "He once put firecrackers in Mom's hat. Luckily, they were small ones, not powerful enough to cause harm, but they did catch fire and singed Mom's hair."
"For almost two years, Mom has kept her hair short."
"What?!" Ariana was utterly shocked.
This wasn't just being mischievous.
This was downright naughty!
"And what about Aunt Susan?"
"Got spanked three times. Once right there, once when dragged to our house, and apparently, once more at their own place."
"Serves him right!" Ariana couldn't help but comment. "How could he be so naughty?"
"So you can imagine how resistant my parents were to the idea of having such a troublemaker as a son-in-law."
They both burst into laughter.
"But he's grown up now, not as wild as he used to be."
They chatted and laughed for a while.
"Alright, I won't take up more of your time. Send me the address."
Ariana hesitated to send the address of The Third Space, so she sent a nearby location instead.
Evan looked at the address; it was a coffee shop.
Surely, they weren't planning to spend the whole night at a coffee shop.
Ariana felt a bit guilty, but there wasn't much else around there besides the coffee shop.
"I remember there's a love hotel near that coffee shop, called something Space..."
Ariana's face turned bright red.
"You wouldn't be..."
Evan gave her a knowing look.
Ariana's face flushed even more.
"Oh? Did I guess right?" Evan said, as if he had uncovered a big secret.
Ariana wished she could disappear into a hole.
The person in front of her was her older brother, and also her idol.
Honestly, she couldn't see him as just her brother, because she always viewed him through the lens of admiration.
"You won't tell on me, will you?" she asked cautiously.
"Maybe you should bribe me a little?"
"Huh?"
"How about calling me 'big brother'?"
Ariana was always a bit reserved with titles; she hadn't even called her close friend by a nickname yet.
Evan playfully flicked her forehead, not angry at all.
The affectionate gesture made Ariana's hair stand on end.
"They say you can't keep a grown girl at home, and it's so true," he teased.
Evan started the engine, and finally, they were on their way.
Ariana felt her heart slowly settle back into place.
"Lucas sure is a lucky guy," she thought, feeling her cheeks warm up.
"Stop teasing me... big brother!" she retorted.
Evan laughed heartily.
He drove Ariana straight to The Third Space.
Ariana got out of the car, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.
"So, what about tonight?" she asked.
"I've got plans with friends or I'll just crash at my own place."
"Alright, then I'm off."
"Be careful," Evan added with a mischievous grin.
Ariana blushed again, feeling embarrassed.
Evan chuckled slyly.
With her backpack in tow, Ariana hurried away, surprised to see this playful side of her idolized brother.
She quickly entered The Third Space hotel, having already checked in ahead of time.
She went straight into her room; Lucas hadn't arrived yet.
She had told the little girl to inform him to come after nine.
After lingering at home for a bit longer, Ariana realized she only had 20 minutes left for herself.
She quickly slipped into the bathroom.
Lucas was already impatient, so he arrived early.
When he reached the hotel and heard the sounds from the bathroom, his heart was pounding.
He glanced down at himself.
"Don't let me down today, buddy," he muttered.
Lucas sat on the couch, waiting quietly.
The anticipation was unbearable, with every minute feeling like an eternity.
Unable to sit still, Lucas paced around the room several times.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. He glanced toward the bathroom and then at the door.
Could Ariana have prepared another surprise for him?
Rubbing his hands together, he opened the door without a second thought.
"Auntie?" Lucas was startled to see the person standing at the door.
Autumn stood at the doorway, glaring fiercely at Lucas. "You little rascal! I haven't seen you for a few days, and you're already up to this?"
From outside, Autumn could see the room's setup.
Red drapes covered a heart-shaped bed, the paintings on the walls were quite inappropriate, and there were various playful tools scattered around.
Combined with the dim, suggestive lighting...
"You little brat!" Autumn grabbed a small whip from the table and swung it at Lucas. "You've really outdone yourself this time! You rascal!"
"Auntie, Auntie, let me explain, it's not what it looks like!"
In the bathroom, Ariana, already dressed in a bunny outfit, heard the commotion outside.
She pressed her ear against the door.
Her mom's voice.
Oh no!
Why is she here?
Can she see me like this?
"Ariana, come out and help me explain!"
