Land of Fairies

“Rudy and I left with them to the station, Mario was already there all bandaged up.”

“Is he pressing charges?” She leaned in. Concern flashed in her eyes.

Why wouldn’t he?

The man was almost beaten to death.

“No, actually we were both called for the police to get to the bottom of the commotion. Before they questioned us we had an important conversation regarding his past involvement with his criminal cousin. I mentioned a few pieces of information that could proof useful to reopen his case. He wasn’t all too certain he would get off this time around. Charging me would be too risky for him so I broke him a deal.”

She arched waiting for him to proceed.

The rest his expression remained aloof as he spoke.

“He told the police he was battered by someone of a…different description and I would hand over the files with the all dirt him.” Alex explained hitting a button on the system from the oval window.

Next to him she saw the metal stairs flattened and the door pulling into a close.

“Hold on, what about the guards your security team fought with? Do I have to give a statement or something?”

Alex put his hands beside her waist making her gasp silently.

Having him so near should come with a hyperventilating warning. He buckled her belts strapping her in properly. He’s really going to fly this thing?

“Your all good baby. Those guys as well as everything else is Mario’s problem. Though, getting rid any evidence liable to convict him should be his main prerogative.” He said fastening his belt. “You’re really going to let him have those files?”

“Already sent them. A deal is a deal I never lie about any one I make, even if it’s with a punk like him. I keep my copies for insurance.” He winked.

Alex adjusted the puffy, military headset then handed her the other. She followed putting them over her ears he provided her with pair of ray bands afterward.

She couldn’t understand how he was so calm and free of all worries. He handled a sticky situation with ease and confidence like it was nothing. It wasn’t so surprising given his resources but still she couldn’t deny the appeal in seeing him this side to him, as oppose to the vicious brawler she saw punching Mario’s lights out.

“They’ll keep you from going deaf,” He told her while she observed him clicking on buttons and booting up the monster of an engine.

The system lit up and came alive.

The machine started shuddering from the winding engine before she knew it they were moving to the edge of the hill. Alex adjusted his ray band as the sunlight pierced the wind screen. She pivoted peeping out her oval window. She wasn’t able to see the dusty road anymore. Only the air. The machine changed pace going faster until they were off the hill elevating into sky.

Her ears went senile encountering some turbulence. Alex kept his hands on the U steering.

“Oh my gosh,” She let out.

Elevating higher and higher, until they rose into the clouds. Being able to see the sceneries from up front in a pilot’s seat was sensational.

Clumps of cotton powdery clouds infinitely surrounding the baby-blue sky. She lowered the ray bands once they were flying in a perfect line. She goggled. Taking in everything from above. “Where are we going?” She giggled out. Eager to know.

She felt buoyant and animated glancing down at the waves splashing onto the seashore. A flock of seagulls hovered above the waves in a flawless circle.

“You’ll see.”

Alex threw her a dashing smile.

She inhaled gazing in awe as they went farther over valleys and green fields. Trackers sloughing through farm lands and rows on the countless vineyards. They went lower coming into planted rows on the most immaculate sunny green fields she’s ever seen.

Tall slopes with neatly trimmed trees on top, along with stony built houses she leaned in more noticing a certain familiarity with the incredibly mesmerizing scenery. She blinked repeatedly and gasped moving closer.

"We’re in Tuscany.” She chimed more to herself than Alex.

He made a quick glare to her enjoying the exuberant look on her face. “Don’t tell me you’ve been before?” He twisted his lip slightly frowning. The billionaire fervently wanted to fly Gina somewhere she has never gone, else it wouldn’t be much of a take-her-breathe-away surprise. “No, I’ve seen some photos. It looks exactly the same. I can’t believe it.”

She said astonished.

“You won’t have to see it from this distance for long.” He informed. Steering the huge machinery with impressive skill.

Their sky level gradually got less and less as the machine came to a swift clean landing in the outskirts of the plains slowly lowering onto the grass.

From the oval window, she could have sworn she was dreaming. Since she was five years old, she and her mother showed her the crisp shots of this place. She always thought given the luminous, jaw-dropping beauty it was a magical land where fairies and princesses lived. She hushed a chuckle to herself. Remembering asking her parents if they ever saw any while staying there.

A brush on her cheek made her flinch snapping her head to Alex. He gazed at her carefully then smiled, “let’s go take a look.”

He helped the headset and belt off her then disappeared at the back of the cabin. Gina rose to feet for once not feeling jet-lagged but vibrant and energetic she could hardly wait, she practically ran through the cabin. Treading down the airstair, leaping onto the sunny-green soft grass.

The medium curved hills were spick and span trimmed. Some more fruitful, flourished with growing grape vines, the powdery clouds clustered in colossal heaps behind the peak of largest hill. It was so sublime. Difficult to imagine it was real. Truly enchanting to behold even from acres away where she stood.

“If you ditch me I’ll make you starve.” Alex said aloud getting out the cabin carrying a willow wicker picnic basket.

She smirked watching him move towards her. His locks glowed stalking up to her. She froze before his taunting lips took hers sudden, vigorous and quick. He peeled from her and sauntered down the bright field. She puffed out a dash of clean air, holding her chest. She spun to him wondering what on earth was trying to pull. “Just had to do it, babe,” he shrugged and kept walking without turning to her. She grumbled out hating his pesky teasing.

“Where are you going?”

She yelled, tailing along across the fields.

“Haven’t decided yet?” He retorted not stopping for a second.

Gina finally understood the purpose of the sweats and trainers for what he had planned.

She gazed forward to the colossal hill where several villas could be spotted at the peak spruced with random skinny, pointed cypress trees all around the villas. Everything was quiet except the cute chirping coming from a flock of blue birds nested in a nearby pine tree. They treaded up the first hills that encountered them, after, Gina led way to the flower fields she spotted from afar.
