Chapter 36 She deserved a little suffering for what she did.

After we ate, I brought Viper up to our room. He still seemed completely worn out. We got undressed and he pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me. For a long time, we just lay there, each of us lost in our own heads. I did not think he was okay yet, not in his mind, but whatever Beast had said to him appeared to have settled something. I wanted him so badly it was a physical ache, but something in my gut told me he was not ready for that. He would not be ready for a while. I would wait for him to come to me. Mostly because I could not stand the idea of him turning me away, and then hating myself for being hurt by it.
About an hour later, I felt his whole body go soft and heavy against me. He was asleep. I carefully slid out from under his arm. I checked the time on my phone: six in the evening. I pulled on black jeans, a black tank top, my heavy boots, and a thin black jacket. I looked at Viper, sleeping deeply, then walked over and bent down. I pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. He moved a little, turning onto his side. I knelt, reached under the bed, and pulled out a hard black case. I opened it and checked what was inside. I took out a hunting knife with a serious edge and slid it into a special holder at the back of my jeans, making sure my jacket covered it. I closed the case, pushed it back under the bed, and stood up.
“I love you,” I said, my voice low. Then I turned and left.
Down in the common area, a few people were hanging around. I saw Jenna sitting on Torque’s lap. She caught my eye and I gave her a small, specific nod. She nodded back, kissed Torque, and murmured something in his ear. He nodded and let her get up.
“Ready to go?” she asked, walking behind the bar. She grabbed her favorite weapon and tucked it into a canvas bag, then picked up her keys.
“You are coming with me? I was just telling you I was heading out.”
“Of course I am. You know the rule. We never go alone.”
I gave her a real smile. We left the clubhouse and got into her truck. The drive to Branford took two and a half hours.
“What is the plan? We have never broken into a jail before,” she said.
“It is a small one. Let me go scope it out. I will be right back,” I told her. I got out and walked quickly over to the police station.
I went inside. A woman in uniform was behind the front desk. She looked up, and I gave her a friendly smile. She smiled back.
“Can I help you?”
“I was hoping to find out about visiting hours. I have a friend in here.”
“You can come back at two in the afternoon. That is when visiting starts.”
“Thank you.”
I left and jogged back to Jenna.
“There is a woman at the front desk. I saw another one at a desk in the back. No patrol cars in the lot. My guess is a skeleton crew at night, with maybe one or two officers out driving. I need a distraction so I can get in the back.”
Jenna nodded and held up five fingers. We both got out. I moved around to the back of the building. I waited five minutes, then worked the lock on the back door until it gave way. I was in. A long hallway stretched to my left and I followed it. I peered around a corner and saw Jenna up front, sobbing and carrying on like her world was ending. Both female officers were trying to comfort her. I moved fast to another door and slipped through.
This hallway was lined with cells on both sides. In the middle one, I found Sophie, sound asleep. She must have been out cold, because even back here I could hear Jenna’s loud crying. I worked the lock on her cell door quietly. I opened it slowly, praying the hinges did not make a sound. They did not. I crept inside and over to the bed. She was on her back, arms thrown above her head. I was lucky the other cells were empty. No one to see what happened next.
I pulled the hunting knife from my jeans. I climbed over her, put my hand firmly over her mouth, and pressed my weight down. Her eyes flew open. When she saw me, and saw the knife, her eyes got huge and she began to struggle wildly.
She tried to hit me, to buck me off, but I put the blade to her throat and she went perfectly still.
“Hello, you stupid cunt. Did you think you would never see me again? You took something that was not yours. Now I am here to deliver justice for my man. You fucked with the wrong woman, Sophie. Killing people is my job. I love it. And I am going to love cutting you from here,” I brought the tip of the blade to her disgusting crotch, then dragged it lightly up to the base of her throat, “all the way to here. But first, I have to make sure you do not scream.”
Right at that soft hollow in her throat, I pushed down. The sharp knife went into her skin like it was nothing. She screamed against my hand, but the sound was suddenly choked off. I took my hand away. She gasped, her eyes bulging, mouth working open and shut like a fish out of water.
Blood welled from the hole and ran down the sides of her neck onto the bed.
“I cut your vocal cords. They are not very deep, you know. Good thing, because I did not want you dying before you felt all the pain I have for you. Now, let us get these clothes off.” Before I took the knife away, I grabbed both her wrists in one of my hands, holding them tight. I used the knife to slice her cheap jail shirt right off her body. I yanked the fabric out from under her, then I stabbed the knife deep into her stomach to pin her down as her body bowed in agony. I used the torn shirt to tie her hands to the metal rails of the bed.
I pulled the knife out and her body collapsed. Tears and snot ran down her face as she cried without a sound.
“That hurts, does it not? I got stabbed in the stomach once. Hurt like a bitch. Took forever to get better.”
I held the knife against her skin as I cut her pants off, then her underwear. I looked at her lying there, completely exposed.
“You know, you are actually pretty. If you had just left Viper alone and glued yourself to some other idiot, you would not be here right now. But here you are. In jail. About to die.”
She opened her mouth, trying again to scream. I laughed. Stupid bitch.
“Well, here we go. I have to hurry. It has already been three minutes. I need one to finish this and one to get out. So, Sophie… I hope you enjoy hell.”
With that, I positioned my knife low on her belly and plunged it in. I dragged it down through her pubic area. I turned the blade and, using all my strength, because this shit is hard work, no matter what the movies show, I pulled it up in one long, brutal line, all the way to the hole in her throat where I had cut her voice away. Blood erupted, pouring out of her, soaking the bed and pooling on the floor. She choked, her mouth filling with her own blood, and she stared at me in pure terror. I just smiled and blew her a kiss as the life drained from her eyes. I cleaned my blade on the sheet and slid it back into the holder on my pants. I left her cell quietly, closed the door, and slipped back into the main hallway. Jenna saw me as I moved past the front desk where the officers were still with her. I went out the back door. By the time she got to the truck, I was already inside and buckled up.
“All done?”
“Yes.”
“Good. That was fun. Those officers were idiots. If I was them, I would have thrown my crying ass right out of the building.”
“Well, I am glad they did not. I had a little too much fun scaring the shit out of her before she died. Took a bit more time than I should have.”
“I do not blame you. I would have done the same. She deserved a little suffering for what she did. Do you feel better?”
“Yeah. Now I just have to help Viper feel better.”
“Do not worry, babe. You will.”
I looked at my big sister. She was the best. “I love you.”
“Love you too, Chaotic. Let’s get you home to your man.”
