Marry me

Marry me
Hera POV

“I need to step into the bathroom Raven, can you come with me?” Chloe requests.

“ Sure, I can take a moment to freshen up," Raven replies. The two of them make a bee line to the opposite direction leaving me with Nyx and Lily.

Nyx steps up. "Hey, there's a kids' play zone over there. Mind if I take Lily to look around and give you a breather?” Nyx asks.

Lily looks up at me, her eyes wide and excited.

Seeing the anticipation on her face, I can't bring myself to say no.

“Sure. You two have fun but don't stay for too long."

“Don't worry we will be there before you know it.” Nyx replies, scooping Lily in her arms.

Lily waves bye as they go.

“Just great! Now I am all by myself.” I grumble, my eyes scanning the area.

“ I might as well look around as I wait for them.” I say to myself, proceeding to the lobby.

Inside I am greeted by a receptionist who gives me a warm smile.

“ Hey,excuse me.” I call her attention.

“ My friends are outside. I would like to take a stroll around as I wait for them. Is that allowed?” I ask.

“ Of course, be free to explore any part of this premise.” She replies and goes back to typing on her computer.

I nod and start walking deeper into the resort. A minute later, a frown forms on my face.

I don't spot any guest or even any attendant which screams suspicion.

My mind flashes back to the motorcycles and now a dead silent resort?

My senses sharpen and countless scenarios sprint in my mind.

My heart beats rapidly, my hand brushing at the weapon secured on my waist.

I advance with caution when out of the blues, two ladies dressed in uniform approach me with a bouquet each.

They smile at me and hand them to me without a word. They don't say a word or linger for long, like they were purposely here to deliver flowers to me.

At first , I am caught off guard before a smile paints on my lips.

The roses are fragrant and before I can stop myself, I bring them closer, inhaling their scent.

Without thinking, my legs carry me toward the direction the two came from.

As I keep advancing, a distant sound catches my ears.

It's a piano, it's sound soft and melodic.

I follow it,my heart suddenly picking up. The big hall opens to a garden path, lit with string lights, leading to a gazebo draped in vines.

Then I see him.

Mason.

He is dressed in a black three-piece suit looking handsome as ever. His fingers dance over the keys, head bowed in focus. My breath catches as I take in the scene before me.

If Mason looks good in the club cut and leather pants and boots, now, he looks like a dream.

The suit hugs his broad shoulders making him look like a wealthy billionaire.

I remain rooted in place, flowers clutched to my chest and eyes trained on him.

When the piece he was playing ends, he lifts his face and smiles at me in that warm, crooked smile that melts me every time.

Slowly, he stands up and plucks a single rose from a vase on the piano.

He starts walking to me slowly,a rose in hand and eyes locked on mine.

Every step he takes towards me has my heart jumping excitedly in my chest.

He stops a few inches from me, tucking the rose behind my ear gently. "Hera," he says, his voice low and filled with emotions.

He looks at me like I am the only important thing in his life, like I am his life.

"From the day you walked into my life, everything changed.” He starts, a smile on his face.

“ Actually, everything started the day I laid my eyes on you. To me, I saw a fairy, a treasure that I wanted to possess at any cost. So, I started my journey of winning you over.

I followed you around with every chance I got. At night, I would stare at your picture in longing. Everytime I looked at your picture, I felt alive, like you were all I needed to live.

Then on that fateful day, I made my appearance. You smiled at me and I almost lost it.

You fell for my charms and agreed to be mine. I have to admit, it wasn't easy winning you over.

When everyone expected me to be the VP, You saw through the tough guy, the Viper, and loved the man underneath. You've been my rock, my partner in the chaos. With you, I found peace I didn't know existed. And Lily, she adores you, like you're her whole world. You've given us a family, something that felt too far to reach.”

Tears spill now but manage a smile.

Indeed, the journey to us being a couple wasn't smooth. I had my doubts, my fears, my reservations and the pain from my past.

But Mason never gave up on me, even at times I blatantly pushed him away. He stuck around and looked out for me, protected me even at the expense of his life.

He takes my hands and brushes his thumbs against my knuckles.

“I don't want to wait anymore. I don't want to stay away from you.

I want forever with you—mornings with Lily's laughter, nights with you in my arms, building a life away from the shadows.” He declares. My eyes water and I fight hard to keep my tears at bay.

“ I want to spend the rest of my life loving you and making you happy. I can't assure you that everyday will be paradise but I am willing to make sure I don't give you a reason to cry or be unhappy.”

The sincerity in his words slam into me and I stagger behind,my breath coming in ragged gasps.

“Hera, will you marry me?"

He drops to one knee, pulling a ring from his pocket. It's a simple diamond ring that sparkles under the evening sunlight.

My heart explodes, joy flooding every inch. "Yes," I whisper, then louder, "Yes, Mason. A thousand times yes."

A smile blooms on his lips followed by claps and cheers. The once deserted gazebo is filled with the crew, both from Shadow Riders and my team.

Slowly, he slips the ring on my finger, raises to his feet and captures my lips into a passionate kiss.
