It's perfect

It's perfect
Hera POV

When the meeting ends with Mason suggesting he has a plan to exit peacefully, I carry Lily in my arms and step out.

I didn't expect Mason to make such a bold move. It's dangerous and risky but it feels right. He is choosing Lily and I over the life he has built for half his life.

I am happy but most importantly, I am proud of him.

I can tell that the crew is devastated by his exit. It's understandable, he has been their leader since the club started. I have to admit that choosing Zero to take over as the VP was the best decision he made for them.

Zero is capable, sometimes I feel like he is even better than Mason but in his own ways.

I watch as Fiona walks out ahead of everyone else, looking dejected.

She didn't have much reaction to Mason leaving the club. For someone who has pinned over Mason for so long, j expected her to flop off or say something crazy. Nothing like that happened. Her mother's disappearance seems to have shaken her.

I feel sorry for her, not because of guilt but because Helena just had to be her mother. A woman so selfish she didn't hesitation to use her daughter as a bargaining chip and hiding the truth from her.

Once outside, I set Lily down to get her a snack when Raven approaches me.

She's got that tough edge back, not the soft side I saw earlier as she comforted Fiona.

She smiles genuinely at me when she stops in front of me.

"Hey, Hera. Congrats," she says, glancing at Mason who is talking to Nyx and Shadow.

"You turned Viper into a family man.” She announces.

I blush, waving my hands with dismissal.

“ He was a family man before. He has been a wonderful dad to Lily.” I reply.

However, Raven shakes her head in disagreement.

“ A good father, yes but not a family man. After Linda screwed him over, he swore off marriage. He said he'd never let anyone in like that again.” She reveals.

“ That's until you showed up and swept him off his feet. He is even exiting this life which he worked so hard for.”

Her words hit me warm, like a hug I didn't expect.

I did hear about how Linda messed him up before, I didn't know it was that serious however.

"Some of the guys think he has gone weak," she adds, lowering her voice. "Too emotional now, not the hard-ass leader they remember."

I raise my brows at that.

Weak ? Too emotional?

"Thanks, Raven. But you know, despite who we are, the moment we lose our emotions, we lose our humanity. Mason is not weak; he's human, just like any of us.

And that's stronger than any tough act."

She nods, her eyes softening. "Yeah, you're right. Just... good for you two. He deserves it."

Before I can say more, Chloe and Zero walk up, hands linked. Chloe giggles at something Zero whispers to her. Seeing the two of them happy makes me happy. After Chloe's last marriage ended with her scarred, I was afraid she would take a long to move on and find happiness. Now, my heart warms at the sight before me.

“ Seems like Mason isn't the only one whipped. You too, Zero.” Raven jokes. Zero doesn't say a word, just wraps his hand around Chloe's waist and turns to look at me.

“ I have something to take care of. I'll have to trouble you to take care of Chloe for me.” He requests.

“ You brought her here, why not take her back?” I ask with raised brows. Chloe wasn't invited to the meeting but she did mention visiting the clubhouse with Zero to me.

“ Come on Hera, don't make things hard for me.” He whines and I chuckle.

“ Alright. I'll take care of her and make sure she is home safe.” I assure him. Zero grins at me before pecking Chloe's lips and walking away.

Raven turns to Chloe, her gaze lingering a second too long.

“ I didn't come to greet you earlier when you arrived since I was babysitting. My apologies.”

Chloe shakes her head dismissively.

“ It's okay. I take no offense.” Chloe replies, smiling. Looking at them, you'd mistake them as gossip buddies and not people who have officially met for the first time.

Chloe is very social and makes friends easily and Raven is the type of ladies Chloe loves: bold and not pretentious.

Raven openly scans Chloe's body, her eyes lighting up with mischief.

"Damn, you're gorgeous. Those eyes could stop traffic." She says it boldly and Chloe blushes a little, laughing.

"Thanks. You're not so bad yourself. I love the ink," Chloe replies, nodding at Raven's arm tattoos.

They're chatting easy now, Raven fanning over Chloe's hair, her style. It's cute watching them bond like that. Then Nyx strolls up, arms crossed with a smirk. "Raven, if I didn't know better, I'd think you swing both ways."

Raven laughs loudly.

"Hey, with how attractive you Killer Angels ladies are, I might consider it. Seriously, you all got that fierce vibe. It's irresistible."

We all chuckle. She can be a flatterer when she wants to be.

Chloe's eyes light up. "You know what? Today is a special occasion. We should celebrate. Mason is finally settling down with you, Hera. Let's go clubbing.” Chloe suggests, her eyes already twinkling.

Nyx shakes her head quickly. "With Lily? That's a bad idea.”

Raven snaps her fingers. "Can we do a hotel instead? Fancy one with a spa or pool, it's also convenient for the little one. We can chill, order room service, and make it a girls' night."

I hesitate, glancing at Lily in my arms. After everything, I just want to spend more time with her.

“ I don't think that's a good idea. Lily is tired, she needs to rest.” I throw in an excuse.

Before I can add more explanations, Lily shakes her head signalling that she is not tired.

“ See? Even Lily wants to have fun. It's a good way to spend time with her.” Raven presses.

I sigh, smiling. "Fine. You win. Let's do it."

Raven grins wide. "Yes! I'll grab my car." She dashes out and we follow behind with Lily holding my hand now.

Outside, Raven pulls up in her black convertible.

Chloe whistles in excitement.

“ Nice ride you've got Raven! This is gonna be fun."

With Raven taking the wheel, Lily and I sit at the back passenger seat. Chloe sits next to Raven.

Nyx revs her bike behind us, following close. The wind whips my hair as we speed off, city lights blurring. Lily giggles at the breeze, her small hands clutching mine. After all the dark, this feels like getting a bit of light.

Raven drives around, surveying hotel after hotel.

"Too dingy," she says at the first one.

Not fancy enough, no pool for the kid… one after the other, we keep at it.

Two hours tick by with us laughing at her pickiness.

Along the way, we stop for ice cream to keep Lily happy.

After what feels like forever, we pull into an outskirt resort.

It has fancy gates and manicured lawns.

"This one is perfect," Raven declares as she kills the engine.

When we step out, I spot several motorcycles parked in the lot.

There's something familiar about them, but I shake it off. Probably just riders passing through. We head inside, the lobby grand with chandeliers and marble floors.
