Hera POV
Slowly,I turn around and come face to face with a familiar face I haven't seen for years. His face is still the same as before, stoic and expressionless.
" The nerve you have for showing In front of me, detective Roman or should I call you,Zeus?" I ask with gritted teeth.
" You have some nerves after letting that bastard escape." I add. Zeus runs his hand through his dark hair,his expressions shifting for a moment.
" That's why I am here. I didn't know that he survived. I hate him as much as you do. Do you think I would ever let him walk free for years? Roaming the city?" Zeus fires back. I scoff.
" I shouldn't have let you handle it. I should have killed him with my own hands. That way,he wouldn't come back to haunt my life again." I spat angrily. Years back when I went on a hunting spree for anyone who was involved in the syndicate group that kidnapped me and took Amelia from me, Zeus approached me and together,we formed a partnership.
He would help me with information since I was still new to the underground and in return,I'll leave the leader of the group to him. Back then, Finn wasn't even the leader,he was the second in command. Since Zeus was working for the government,I couldn't be involved in the final mission to destroy the syndicate group. I could only watch from afar as he and his team raided the hideout,killed and arrested the members and rescued the trafficked girls. Imagine the shock when I saw Finn,aka Eagle standing proudly before me during Linda's send off?
" Like you have been going around doing?"Zeus fires back. I narrow my eyes at him.
" What do you mean by that?" I ask, suddenly alarmed. What does he know about my private life? I have made sure to keep everything away from the eyes of the cops.
" I know that you took down Lizard." Zeus states and this time,I actually pull my gun and point it at him,a glare fixed on his face.
" You have been spying on me?" I probe,my voice dangerously low.
" I could kill you right here and dispose off your body and no one would ever find out." I threaten. Zeus raises his hand in surrender.
" I am aware of what you are capable of doing and that's why I am here today." She explains. I raise my brows, prompting him to explain further.
" I think you should put your gun down and we can talk. I have something to discuss with you." He offers but I scoff.
" Talk? Discuss with me? I am not interested in your bullshit. I'll never work with you again." I declare, lower my gun and turn around to walk away.
" Don't be so fast to refuse my offer. I can be of great importance in taking down Eagle and his nasty team. " Zeus shouts from behind me, his actions halting me. I whip my head around to face him.
" Shove that help up your ass,Zeus. I don't need it. This time,I'll make sure he can't crawl back alive because I'm sending him hell myself." I fire back.
I am not taking chances again with Finn and them Jackal bastards. I am going to destroy them once and for all.
" Think about it. This operation is bound to draw the attention of the public and the cops too. It's a big one. Do you think you can cover it up like you have been doing over the years? You need a decoy and I am willing to offer you that as long as you agree to cooperate with me." Zeus continues in an attempt to convince me.
Deep down I know he is right. Determined as I am,the operation before us is big. Taking down The Jackals isn't going to be an easy task and I hate to admit it but we might need all the help we can get. However,I can't trust Zeus,not after he failed in the mission years ago. Thanks to him, Finn is back, stronger than before.
" What if I say no?" I question and Zeus gives me a sad smile.
" Then I will be forced to arrest you for obstruction of justice if you make a move against a wanted criminal. You know what that means,right? Your identity as MG,the leader of Killer Angels will be revealed. You might face jail time for all the lives you have taken over the years. And your little team will be dragged down with you. You don't want that, do you,Hera?" Zeus declares,his expression not changing.
I turn back to him and stop an inch away from him.
" Are you threatening me?" I ask, glaring at him.
He shakes his head almost immediately.
" I wouldn't dare. I still love my life. I just want to show you that teaming up with me is the best move you can make to get your revenge and walk away without having to rub shoulders with the cops. You also know that the underworld won't let you go if word spreads that you took down one of them, right?" Zeus explains calmly. His words make absolute sense but my pride won't allow me to admit that out loud.
" I'll give you time. Think about it and make a decision. Don't take too long,we have to move before it's too late. I'll keep in touch." Zeus informs. He then turns around and walks away,leaving me watching his back. Just like he emerged from nowhere,he disappears in the shadows.
I punch the open button of the elevator and it dings open, allowing me to step inside. When the door closes,I lean my head against the wall.
I have a lot of thinking to do,too much that everything is confusing me. Seconds later,the door dings open and I step out of the elevator and head straight to my office. Pulling my phone from my packets,I send a message to Sulphur and his partner to withdraw their investigation. If Zeus is after Finn,I wouldn't be surprised if any information we try to find out will be concealed or sabotaged. I'm pretty sure he already knows the location of Finn's new club. That's just how powerful his connection is.
With him around,it will be easier to carry out the operation. However, this time if I decide to cooperate with him, I'll be the one to finish Finn. Unless I see him dead with my own eyes, I'll never rest assured. It's the only way to appease my anger and hatred, protect those I care about and avenge Amelia's death.
Mason POV
After spending time with Lily to make up for the time I have neglected her these past few days,I decide to go find my brother. A small part of me still hopes that everything is a big misunderstanding but I am not entirely blind to every opinion I have heard so far.
Zero was right. I can't blindly trust someone just because we share blood. Mothers are capable of betraying their children. Look at Linda for example. She was aware of how dangerous dragging Lily into that fucking warehouse was but she still did it and put her daughter's life on danger.
If a mother can do that,a brother can betray another. That's how I have chosen to reason just to be fair to Hera,my daughter and everyone at Shadow Riders. It's about time I snap out of my selfish stance and consider everyone else. If Finn is Eagle, Hera is in danger and so is every other member of Shadow Riders. I am the VP of the club,it's my duty to protect every one of them. And Hera,I remember once promising that I'll protect her even against herself. Now,it's time to fulfil that promise.
I plug in my bike keys, ignite the machine and start driving off. At the gate however, one of the guards stops me.
" What's the matter? Something happened when I was away?" I probe, curious. The guy nods and passes a tablet to me.
" The Madam asked us to show this." He informs me. On the display is a video. I tap the play button and as the video continues to play,the more I feel my anger burning.
