LIAM'S POV
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I gave a lopsided smile
"Finally, the company is in my hands now." I smirked.
"Sir, the car is ready." The driver spoke from outside.
I had to give myself the last look of courage as I walked away.
"Get these into the car." I handed over files to him.
I made sure I picked one of the best cars to use. I made sure everything about me spoke luxury when I stepped into that place.
I had received many mails from the company waiting for my arrival.
Today is the first day at work. The day I will fully be recognized as the CEO, the day...
"The day that Elara's father's name will be erased."
A muscle in my jaw twitched.
There was no guarantee that I would let the old workers stay there for a long period. I do not know who is secretly working for the family, people may be so stupid. They might be dead and then some half–witted human would want to bring back the matter.
"I'm not letting that happen, I am not as dumb as her father." I took a deep breath and walked to the car.
It was a long journey with a lot of thoughts.
"Now I'm back to being here." I mumbled between my teeth
My driver drove so fast like he was in a competition.
We arrived at the venue. People were already out, waiting for me to get in. The media were well prepared, they had surrounded the car already that I could barely come outside.
"You have to give him space.." the security tried to get them away.
Finally, I was able to open the door.
I stepped out, I felt a surge of happiness for a second. I could not stop smiling as I got up to the company.
"Here...." The manager and other boards led me inside.
Before this, the media had multiple questions to ask.
"Please sir, how do you feel about having this company?" One of them asked.
"I mean anyone that has this opportunity will feel happy, it is a privilege to be helping my wife's parents." I made sure my answer was simple and smart.
Late wife. That thought came in, but whatever I had already given out the information needed.
"Wait...and how about them? Do you have anything to say?" The question was thrown at me.
There was an awkward silence.
"I think that will be all for now.." The manager stopped them from coming closer.
"Nah, it's fine....this will be the last question." I had to clear the air, I don't know what the fuck they think about their death but I need to be sure that they don't think I killed them.
".... I'm bitter to lose my wife and her parents but I will make sure I uphold the family name for good." And with that I walked inside.
"Wait, sir, can you tell us what she thinks about this?"
"How long do you intend to hold the company?"
Questions kept flying around, I ignored them and walked away.
"Stay off, that's enough!!" The manager didn't let anyone come closer.
"We are happy to have you among us Mr....?" They all paused waiting for me to speak.
"Liam.... Mr. Liam." I leaned forward.
I could see so many faces, the ones that were happy to receive me, the ones that weren't, the ones that saw me as a competition.
"I'm glad to be accepted here."
I had noticed a fellow who kept staring at me like we had a problem, I didn't let go of my eyes either. My eyes were fixed on him until I had finished my last words.
"So, you will learn the policy and get to know us more with time. For now, enjoy your day." The meeting was dismissed.
"Welcome man.." Some came to meet me.
"Hi I am the manager here, I'm Claire, if you need any assistance you can meet me for that." She said calmly to me.
"Thank you..." I smiled.
I walked a few steps forward , just when I was about to enter my office I bumped into the supposed enemy.
We stared into each other's eyes for a few minutes.
"A welcome?" I shrugged.
"Maybe not.." He shrugged too.
I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that.
"So what should I expect?" My eyes went round in irritation.
"Welcome, but you don't need to show off." He stretched his hands for a handshake.
My eyes went from his hand hanging in the air to his face that got me irritated.
"Now just so you know. I am not your worker here and I will never be. I do not work for anyone, I am the CEO here and I don't have to show off before being recognized. I don't have to go through all that stress. So if you do not mind, I need you to learn how to speak properly." A mischievous smile escaped my lips.
With that I walked away. I didn't even give him the chance to speak because I knew he had nothing reasonable to say.
"I think I will have to save that one." I shook my head in disappointment.
My table was already filled with files, I could not think of where to begin. Everyone had their files submitted for the day, and now I have to sign on all of them.
"I'm finally here..." I smiled as I sat proudly on the chair.
I know how fast this news will fly. The media won't waste a minute.
I still had my phone beside me, maybe my spies had some information about Elara. It has been days and I haven't gotten anything from them, I expect nothing too.
I just want everyone to remain dead. I have a lot to deal with here, there are too many things in my hand already and I have to attend to them all.
