Chapter 91 - The Beta's Fate
For two days, the two hundred and ninety-six wolves that hoped to be a part of Wes’ Elite team, ran the Crimson Rivers obstacle course, played capture the flag and hide and seek. Out of those two hundred and ninety-six, eighty of them were left. He had the eighty battle with his Elite wolves that he brought, leaving forty-four for the last test. Of those forty-four, fifteen of them were trackers. He hoped at least five of the trackers made it through the last test.
“This is the last day to see which among you will become part of my Elite Warriors. I am looking for ten to fifteen to add to my team.”
“Your Kitchen Omega, Martha, has been kidnapped and hidden in our territory. You have two hours to find her. Once you find her, you will mindlink me and share the image of her with me, so I can tell Prince Wes who has found her. If all forty-four of you find her, Prince Wes and I will personally handpick who will be a part of his Elite Team. Your two hours start now.
Forty-two wolves dispersed. The fifteen trackers all went in the same direction, while the others went in different directions. Except for two wolves. Wes was curious as they stood there. They were identical in looks. Both male with blonde hair, blue eyes. They were tall and muscular. They stared at each other, and then they touched palms.
“What are they doing?” Wes asked Caden.
“They are Callum and Cian. They have this unique gift. They can focus on an image in their mind and then locate what they are imagining. I’ve used them when a pup has gone missing in the woods, or when I’ve lost my keys.”
Wes looked at his friend with amusement.
“Why did you not tell me you had wolves with special gifts?”
“You did not ask.”
“Well, tell them they don’t have to test. I want them. They will make rescuing any missing females easy.”
“But why ruin their fun? They’ll be the first to find her. Watch.”
Wes watched Callum and Cian. A glow passed between their palms, and then they instantly shifted. Their wolves were pure white. They went off and ran in the direction the trackers did.
“How long do you give them?” Wes asked his friend.
“It takes thirty minutes to get to the witches' cottage. We should hear from them in exactly thirty minutes.”
They sat and talked. Caden was fascinated by the girl's gifts. He told Wes how lucky he was to have such special mates and hopes one day to find his mate.
“What obstacles have you put in their way to trick them?”
“I have clothes with Martha’s scent spread out all over the forest. I had her find a couple of bare spots and make tracks with her wolf. I told her to rub up against some trees, so her fur could catch on the bark. All to misguide them. The twins won’t fall for any of it. Because they know exactly where she is. They will be linking me any second now.”
The moment he said that, his eyes glazed over.
“They are sitting with her and the witches drinking tea. Martha confirmed they were the first to find her.”
Wes was extremely happy to have these two. With the four military strategists and the twins, that made six. Over the next hour, six of the trackers found Martha. Wes was happy to hear this. While they waited for the next half hour for the test to be over, he told Caden to have those wolves already chosen to pack their things and say goodbye to their families. When the half hour was up, only one more wolf found her. That gave him thirteen warriors joining his team. He was happy with that. They left later that night to go to the next pack.
A week and a half later Wes and the girls returned to the kingdom with fifty more Elites and six more new SUVs. They also gathered information that Wes would inform Maxon about. The girls helped eight other packs with finances, crops and herbs, and pregnancies. Dawn personally saved four children. Two were attacked by wild boar, one from drowning, and the last fell from a tree, breaking every rib and rupturing his spleen. Word spread to other packs about his girls and everyone seemed to want their services. He was extremely proud of them. His meeting with his brothers, his father and Uncle, went well. He informed them that Clayton Bell had been seen with a group of humans traveling to Kentucky. Maxon instantly contacted the two packs there and warned them of the humans.
“We need to track him down and take him out. That will take care of the kidnappings and save any girls he has with him. We need to find out who he has sold any of the females to. He must have records so we can rescue them. And we need the name of this scientist. It’s still only a rumor, but I have a feeling everything we’ve heard about the black market sales and the scientist experiments is true,” Maxon said. “ I want this taken care of soon.”
Wes nodded. For the next week, his team trained, and they gathered intel on Bell. The packs in Kentucky informed them that the humans had not been seen.
“Maybe they have all they need. I’ve had a network of wolves infiltrate some rogue encampments. The peaceful ones that just want to live their own lives for whatever reason. They’ve told us some of the rogue camps have been hit by these humans. The rogues have killed some of them, but a couple of times a girl or two has been taken. The last camp that was hit is located in Alabama. I want you to take half of your Elites. If you find them, capture Clayton and whoever else you can. Use deadly force to accomplish your mission. Rescue any women they have with them. Get this done brother,” Maxon ordered.
Wes found the girls with Lillyn and his mother.
“I am leaving for a mission. You two be good. No shenanigans.”
“Us?” Farrah said innocently. He grinned and kissed her.
“My Angel, watch your wayward sister, I love you.” After giving her a goodbye kiss, he left.
It took a whole day to find the humans. Davis, Lina, Lola, and Jaxon each took a team. Wes and his team surrounded the two-story house where the humans were stationed.
Jaxon go to the rear, Lina and Lola each take a side, if any of them try to escape through a window, engage. Davis, you are to take out any that escapes us. My team and I are going in the front. My team you are behind me. Once all of us are through, you are to capture unless they use force, then take them out. Remember we need Clayton alive. One of the prisoners described him as tall with a long black beard. He has black hair and brown eyes. He also has a scar that runs down the left side of his face. If you encounter anyone like that, inform me.
Once Wes was done mindlinking the team, and they were all in position, at this signal they attacked. Wes kicked the front door open. A shotgun blast came from his left and hit him in the side. He growled as the slugs bounced off of him. He ran towards the guy that was frantically trying to reload and ripped the gun out of his hand. He then clawed the man through his face. He died instantly. Chaos ensued. Men screamed, guns were blasted. Some of his team got hit with the poisonous darts. He had Deandra blink those wolves out into the yard. Fire shot over his head as he took down another human. One of Rowena’s witches took out a human that was about to come down with an ax on his head. Not that it would have done much except give him a headache. He nodded at the witch.
Wes, I have Clayton. I found him in the basement with ten girls.
Jaxon, you absolute stud, thank the Goddess.
You know it bro.
Team finish up with the rest of the humans.
I have five out in the yard unconscious.
Okay, Lina. Tie them up. Get them in the car. Thorne, Amari, help her out.
On it Commander.
Wes sighed with relief. It may have taken a day to find the humans, but it would only take a few hours to get back to the kingdom. They had the prisoners secured in one SUV with Davis and three other warriors. The ten girls were all wolves and went into another SUV with Lina, Lola and Deandra. Three hours later they made it back to the Royal Pack. Dawn instantly started working on the injured and saving those that were shot with the poison.
“Wes, that was a fantastic mission. Congratulations on finally capturing Clayton. Now I’ll have Aunt Lillyn sift through his mind, and we will get information about the scientists and any black market dealings he did. Did you find any records?” Maxon asked.
“Yes, I have a flash drive here. Everything that was on his computer was downloaded.”
“Excellent. This was a great victory. Get some rest.”
Since Dawn was busy at the hospital, he grabbed Farrah. She washed him in the shower. After cleaning all the blood off of him, she ran him a bath where she massaged his shoulders, neck and head.
“Your touch is magic, my love.”
“Just relax and let me take your stress away. I love you Wes."
“I love you too.”
Wes closed his eyes and let his mate take care of him.
