Chapter 104
Chapter 104
Maddox PoV
How dare that human speak about my mate and child like that? She is a coward, verbally attacking a pregnant woman just because she doesn’t like who she slept with. Miya is supposed to be Elora’s friend.
I saved the girls life because Elora was desperate for her friend to be safe, and this is how she repays her?!
I’ll rip out her fucking heart and feed it to the hounds.
One more word from her, just one nasty comment, and she is gone. I will send her back to her dying world and let her live out the rest of her days miserable and alone.
The only humans left are the less desirable ones, the ones who will hurt her, rape her and steal from her. But I don’t give a crap about this human, or any of her race. All I care about is Elora and my child. And I will not have some human telling my mate that she needs to kill my child.
Elora didn’t want to tell me at first, but after some gentle convincing, she poured it all out to me, sobbing like she’d lost everything, and perhaps she had. She holds Miya very high in her heart, she loves her like someone would love a sister. And yet, the human told her to kill her baby.
This is just like humans, they’re all trash, selfish creatures who are only interested in each other when they have something to gain from it.
Miya doesn’t like that My little fae has found her place here, she wants her to be miserable. But she ain’t, Elora is thriving here as my queen, and Miya can’t stand that truth.
I look down at my fated mate asleep on my chest and sigh, she would never forgive me if I killed or banished her friend, it has to be her choice. It has to come from somewhere inside of her, she has to let go.
But I know that she won’t.
I don’t know why she thinks so highly of the human girl, but I don’t like it. Not one bit.
I was always told by my parents that attached to a weaker species only leads to pain. The weaker species will always die, and throughout my life, this has been true.
But Elora is different. She’s strong in ways I never considered before, she loves fiercely and she hates even more so.
I wiped out the fae race, or so I thought. But she evaded capture, for years. All alone in an unforgiving land, THAT is true strength.
A strength I admire.
But the human. She is as pathetic as they come. Weak and stupid. She doesn’t see that she has it good here, even if she does have to work for her keep.
Elvira stirs in my arms, her eyes flickering open. “Did the doctor come back?” She asks, stretching against me.
It’s very distracting the way that her breasts press against my side.
How did I ever concentrate on anything else?
“He did.” I say, clearing my throat and averting my eyes from the small mounds on her chest. “I told him that you were resting, he’s waiting downstairs.”
She nods, rubbing her eyes. “You can call him now.” She says, “I’d like to know that the baby is ok.”
I smile, pleased she is concerned with our child’s safety.
She’s going to be an excellent mother; I can feel it.
“I’ll go get him.” I say, begrudgingly peeling myself away from her.
She smiles when I linger at the side of the bed a moment too long. “I’ll be right here.” She says, “I won’t move.”
I clear my throat and head straight for the door, I don’t like it when anyone sees me vulnerable, but for some reason, the way that she spoke made my heart swell with something unfamiliar.
Is this love? I’ve never felt it before.
I open the bedroom door and stick my head out, indicating for one of the guards I placed there to come to me, and he does. Very quickly.
“Go and get the doctor.” I order him, the cold edge back in my voice. “Your queen will see him now.”
The guard bows and rushes away, and I watch him until he reaches the stairs before going back into the bedroom.
Ryker has decided earlier that we should all share a room, one bed for the three of us, and the more I think about it, the more I like the idea.
Elora will be safer with us by her side during the night, which is now necessary, news of her pregnancy will outrage Darax, and we should be ready to take on anything he throws our way.
Even if that means smothering her, which I’m not sure I’m capable of doing.
I shut the door and smile when I see her eyes closed again, she’s sleeping a lot, and I’m not sure whether that is normal or not. A fae has never mated with my kind before. This is completely new territory, for everyone.
Although I am quite pleased with how jealous the Dragon king is, Ryker always thought he’d be the one to impregnate her first, but instead it was me, and he hates it.
He is very adamant that as soon as she gives birth to my child, he will put one inside of her.
When she has healed of course, my kind tend to give birth to large children.
I approach the bed and gently tap her shoulder, “Elora, the doctor is coming, you have to open your eyes.”
She groans, but a second later, her eyes flicker open. “I don’t know why I’m so tired.” She grumbles. “This has to be because of your child.”
“Our child, my little fae.” I say, gently kissing her temple. “It takes two to make a baby.”
“Yeah, yeah. I know.” She barks, and then laughs, “I’m grump too, we can add that to the list.”
I smile down at her, “you can be as grumpy as you like, my little warrior, I don’t mind. It’s natural to get frustrated, you have a tiny being overtaking your body.”
And once my child is born, her world will change forever, and perhaps my people will finally accept her fully as their queen.
They think she is weak, but she is far from it.
She’s the strongest woman I know.
Elora proves her strength time and time again, and she isn't afraid to put anyone in their place if they harass her.
Shes the perfect wife for me, she is marked, and pregnant, but we still haven't had a wedding. Humans take great pride in their weddings, are Fae the same? I'll have to ask her.
I want her to say yes, in a white dress, or maybe black, and I want her to vow to always be mine.
That would be perfect, and I'd invite my entire family, what's left of it. I know they'll adore her.
They admire strength above everything else, and they will see it in her, in certain of it.
