Chapter 29

The two immediately zipped their mouths at that, suddenly embarrassed about what they were doing in the first place, knowing deep inside they didn’t have the right to judge people this way.

Vivian Heather suddenly changing wasn't fresh news anymore. Everyone found out about her deeds and when they started judging her, Kathryn was there to clear the air. Vivian had never met someone as forgiving and kind as Kathryn. If she could be honest, Kathryn was like an angel to her. Although she had pretty much become the devil to her before…

Still, Vivian Heather was glad and thankful Kathryn had forgiven her. Zachary Robertson seemed to be still annoyed with her presence however, and even David Gutierrez clearly showed his dislike towards her. Not that she could blame them. Of course, she understood what she did was wrong, what was important was that Kathryn forgave her and even considered her as a friend. Somehow, the thought made her feel warm.

"I don't like the way she's looking at Kathryn," David exclaimed, huffing in annoyance as he crossed his arms against his chest while staring at Vivian Heather from a distance. It still irritated him how Kathryn could forgive the bitch so easily.

"Stop putting your nose on other people's businesses," Chad said calmly, then went back to his phone where he was reading some blogs.

"Argh! I still don't like her. How can Kath forgive her that fast? If I were her, I'd slap her twenty times!" David said, glaring at the girl.

“How can you do that to a girl?” Chad said, shaking his head. Glancing up, his eyes promptly scanned around and found some students on their own seats talking, some still on the dance floor intimately dancing—including, of course, his girlfriend with her ex, who had saved her apparently—and some teachers chatting nearby. Knowing his girlfriend had lost her mind and in her own world again with that unrelenting bad boy, Chad shook his head and sighed. He would need to have a talk with Kathryn later, for sure.

He then glanced at David who still looked like he was going to choke out of too much muttering curses towards the girl named Vivian. "Want to go for a beach stroll?"

David paused from his evil chants, face blank as he turned to Chad, "Huh?"

Chad shrugged, "If you don't want to, that's okay." He then went back to his phone.

"No! No! I want to go!" David was quick to move closer to Chad, grinning as he pulled the taller one up, eager to leave the place where he could see a certain bitch. "Come on. Let's go!"

David started to drag Chad away from the students, hand in hand as they began to walk to the seashore. He felt suffocated and he really wanted to slap that bitch but knowing Kathryn, she'd just probably defend her again, much to David's dissatisfaction.

Beyond his knowledge, Chad had been secretly staring at his face changing to different expressions. This time though, Chad found himself smiling. He wasn't annoyed by David's exaggerated facial expression for the first time. Chad wondered why.

"You saw them too, didn't you?" David suddenly asked.

Chad halted in his steps, raising his eyebrow as he looked at David, "You knew?"

David shook his head, "Kathryn only told me at the party. I never knew it would lead to this though…What if something happened then? Kath alone on an island…" David's eyes turned darker at the thought. He could really go berserk once his friends being in danger was mentioned.

"Zachary won't let anything happen to her. You know how devoted he is to her," Chad answered, recalling how exactly Zachary's stubbornness couldn't keep him on his feet the time he had learned about Kathryn's situation. Somehow though, they were grateful for his stubbornness that miraculously saved Kathryn. This coming from Kathryn's current boyfriend, Chad felt a little ashamed. He never felt so useless when Zachary and Kathryn arrived, and everyone was praising Zachary for saving Kathryn while he, on the other hand, just stood on a corner, silently checking whether they were safe or not. He couldn’t even approach Kathryn personally since Zachary had practically put up walls around them.

David placed his arms behind his head, sighing deeply as he let the wind caress his face. "It's too complicated now. But I don't like Kath to face everything alone. Besides us, I like how Zachary's still sticking by Kath’s side despite Kath pushing him away all the time." Then David playfully gave a teasing look at Chad, wiggling his eyebrows, "That's all right for the current boyfriend, right?"

Of course, Chad thought. Just that Chad was a little bit lost. He didn't exactly know what they were doing anymore. When Kathryn came to him one day, tears falling from her innocent eyes caused by the source of their main problem, Chad felt the urge to do something, anything to stop those tears from falling. Something inside him told him not to take another step closer, not to do something he would regret later on. But it was impossible to ignore Kathryn’s vulnerable form that time. In the middle of battling an unknown conflict inside him, Chad had already stepped forward and pulled Kathryn against him.

"You're not…jealous, are you?" David gave a stinky look at Chad, almost disgusted at how the taller man was making such a face.

Chad cleared his throat, "Of course not." He wasn't. There was no way he was. He couldn't; he shouldn't.

"Pfffft…" David started laughing, hands on his stomach as he stared at Chad. The sight only made Chad's eyebrows twitch in annoyance; he clearly didn't like being mocked or laughed at.

"You should've seen your face! You look like…pfft…Hahaha!" David teased, laughing so hard until he snorted like a pig.

Somehow, Chad found himself smiling at that sound, almost chuckling because David and his exaggerated expressions were just too funny to handle.

"Stop it," Chad muttered, definitely trying to refrain from laughing which thankfully he succeeded in doing.

David wiped some tears that came off his eyes, feeling his own body trying to push the laughter down. "Whew, that was too funny…"

Chad remained silent. His eyes now cast to the sea before them.

"Anyway, what are we going to do with them?" David suddenly asked after having his laughter died down.

Chad stared at the waves, watching how they pulled and pushed against the shore. With a serious darker tone, he uttered, "Let them be for now…but if they make another move, you know what to do."
