"Really Leo, a pregnancy test" she murmured, but then what did she expect, he asked her if she was raped and she said nothing.
"What does the test result say?" Leonardo asked impatiently.
"I don't think he needs to share that information with you" Alisha said to Leonardo.
"Doctor please let me have it" she stretched her hand towards the doctor.
"No way, this is more of my business than it is yours" Leonardo said and snatched the result from the doctor.
They had not even spent half the night together after a month and three weeks of not seeing each other, and they were already fighting.
This was exhausting.
Leonardo looked at the result, then dumped it on the bed and left the room.
Alisha was scared, was she pregnant? Was that why Leonardo had left the room?
She picked the result with shaky hands and looked at it, she was not pregnant. She breathed a sigh of relieve.
"Hmm doctor, just between you and I, I was unconscious for three weeks and was not conscious of what was done to my body, could you kindly check if there was any sort of penetration?
Please don't let my husband know about this, but I just want to be sure if my hymen is still intact.
The doctor nodded and conducted the check. Alisha was glad Leonardo did not return to the room, even after the doctor was done and told her that she was still intact.
Leonardo sat in the car until it was midnight. He did not want to face Alisha after he had seen the test result, someone he felt asking for a pregnancy test was insensitive on his part, as if he did not want to have anything to do with her if she was pregnant.
So he stayed until he was sure she was asleep before going back into the room.
Alisha woke up around 2:00am and found Leonardo sleeping on the armchair in her ward. She used the extra blanket in her room to cover him up, then she quietly went to pee.
As she returned back to bed and was covering herself up, Leonardo woke up.
"What's wrong Alisha?
Are you in pain? does your rib hurt?
Should I call the doctor?" he asked all at once.
"I'm fine, go back to sleep" she told him, he went back to sit but did not sleep instead he watched her drift back to sleep.
The next morning, the doctor discharged Alisha, he asked that she be placed on two weeks bed rest as she was still week, he also gave her some vitamins and asked her to increase her fluid intake.
"Thank you" she said to Leonardo as he started the engine of the car and drove her home. He did not reply her, but he touched her hand for a little while and then focused on driving.
She was not angry that he did not reply her, his touch meant so much.
"Can we pass by the bakery? Just to see how things are going" she asked, she had missed tht place, baking was an escape for her.
"No, the doctor said bed rest"
"It's not like I am going to work, just to see how things are going"
"Five minutes" he said with a frown and drove towards the bakery street.
When they got there, Leonardo's phone rang, she allowed him take his call while she went into the bakery.
She went to the baking section and met a lady who was probably around her age or a year older sitting by a corner, eating muffins and dishing out orders.
"Hello guys" she greeted her staff, trying to ignore the woman at first
"Hey, this is work hour, if you want to see a friend, you can do that when they are closed and home, not here." The woman said to her.
"And who are you?" Alisha asked surprised
"I am the supervisor here, so get our bitch" she said coming towards Alisha
Alisha tried to keep her cool, she ignored the woman and went towards her two bakers, they were struggling to get a design on a cake, the customer had specifically ordered for that design.
Forgetting that she had assured Leonardo that she was not going to work, she wore her apron and covered her hair. Collecting the materials from her bakers, she was in full baker mode.
"Hey bitch, get the hell out of my bakery." The supervisor came towards Alisha and pulled her by her hair.
"One more word from you, and you will be dead, take your filthy hands off her this instant." Leonardo said in a very angry tone, appearing from the door.
"Hmmm, hello Mr Legend, hmm she isn't one of us, I'm just trying to do my job, she is distracting the bakers and we are due for a delivery soon."
"That woman right there, is my wife and the owner of this bakery, so get the fuck out of here, and just so you'll know, I will be blacklisting your name, and no one in this country and around will ever hire you as a supervisor or any top job ever again."
Leonardo was furious, "how could she talk to his wife that way, and how could Alisha stay so calm in all this?" he wondered
The supervisor ran out of the bakery, while Alisha concentrated on the cake design.
"Alisha, home now" he thought of saying to her, but he would not want to disrespect her at the front of her staff, so instead he went close to her.
"I'm sorry for hiring such incompetent supervisor, can we go home now? The doctor said you need to rest" he gave her a forced smile, and had his hand on her lower back.
"I know I promised not to work, but they need to have this delivered in an hour and they are yet to figure out this design, please could you give me ten minutes, or you can go get ready for the office, and I would just take a cab home." She was not looking at him as she spoke; she had her brush designing the cake, her eyes plastered on it.
"There is no way I am sending even the driver to pick you up, you will end up overworking yourself, I am waiting right here." He said and sat by a corner. He did wait patiently, and even when he looked at his wristwatch and saw that it was already twenty minutes, he kept his cool.
Alisha served him coffee and banana bread, while she went back to her design. He thought it was thoughtful of her to serve him herself, and not forget that he was waiting her.
Thirty-five minutes later, Alisha was done and set to go home with Leonardo. "Thabk you for waiting up for me" she said as she hooked her seatbelt.
"Thanks for the coffee." was all he said as he drove them home. When they got home, her dad and Anna were eating breakfast.
"Honey, Alisha and I were going to come to the hospital this morning, but Leonardo called that you've been discharged." her dad said pecking her.
"I'm dad, let me freshen up" She was going towards the guest room where her things were before she went missing. Leonardo pulled her towards him and led her to his own room. She did not want to protest so no one would hear them, so she went up with him until they entered the room and closed the door.
"What was that for?" she asked a bit offended
"Your things are here now, we won't be using separate rooms any more. That's why I remodelled this room.
From now henceforth, we share this room and this bed."
"And what if I say no?"
"I did not ask you a question Lisha, so the answer of yes or no is not relevant, go take a bath so you can have something to eat."
"I'm not hungry, just go take your bath and go to the office instead." she suggested
"I will be working from home for the next two weeks, there is no way I would let you out of my sight until your two weeks bed rest is complete, I can't trust you with taking care of yourself."
"Says the man that left me for a month and won't speak to me." she rolled her eyes at him. He didn't have a reasonable excuse, so instead he kept quiet and went to have his bath.
While Alisha was taking her own bath, Leonardo had Mary bring her breakfast up to the room. Against Alish's wish, he fed her breakfast and ordered her to rest.
He spent a few hours working before he also slept off beside her. As he slept he dream of Alisha in a garden full of beautiful flowers, she smiled warmly at him as she danced along with the flowers as the wind tossed them forth and back.
Two days later, Alisha's dad and sister returned to San Francisco, while he was alone in the house with Leonardo and the other staff. She had pleaded with him a few times to let her go to the bakery, she promised she would just sit for a while and leave, but he insisted he could not trust her to just sit in the bakery, he was sure she would be mixing butter or designing something.
Alisha was offended and barely spoke to him. She felt he was caging her unnecessarily. It's been a week that Alisha had been on bed rest. She felt if she stayed another day in the mansion she was going to choke to death, so while Leonardo was asleep, she got dressed quietly and left the house.
Leonardo woke up and could not find Alisha, he assumed she was in the bathroom, but after a while and she was not out, she went in search of her in and around the house.
"Mary, have you seen Alisha?" Leonardo asked her.
"I've not seen her come down the stairs yet sir, I assumed she was still up."
"Is it possible she is out to see a man? She is yet to still speak about her three weeks disappearance" Leonardo thought within him
"I'm sorry to say this Mr. Leonardo, but twice while you and your wife were having breakfast, I heard her ask you if she could go to the bakery, I think she might be there." Mary interrupted his thoughts.
He had tried calling her but she was not picking up her call. He wore something appropriate and drove to the bakery.
The bakery was just opening when he got there, he went in ignoring the greeting of one of the baker and the cleaner.
He searched for her but did not find her. "Where is my wife?" he asked them both giving up on his search.
"We've not seen her since the last time you two were here sir" the baker replied him
He went back into his car and drove back home. "I swear when I find her she will tell me where she went to, and I don't care if she is ready or not, but today she must tell me where she had been for the three weeks she was missing, if she is seeing a man she should at least have the guts to tell me maybe we can adjust the contract, but I will not condole her running or sneaking away from me." he said to his steering wheel.
"You also left her for a month without any explanation" his subconscious mind mocked him.
"Shut up, I am a man, I get to do what I want to and go where I want to, and be with the women I want to be with, but Alisha is my wife and I am not sharing her with anyone." he argued with himself.
