"If you do not get down here and answer ever single question of mine, be sure that the moment Alisha is found, she would be shoving divorce papers to your face, because it is obvious that you are a useless, incompetent, irresponsible and sorry excuse of a husband." Alisha's father ranted angrily.
Leonardo stood in his track as he thought of what to do to this man who had just insulted him in his own house.
He turned and went back down from the stairs.
"Mr Adams, I need you to be patient, we all care about Alisha"
"I do not think you do Leonardo, I don't know why she chose to be with an insensitive man like you." Leonardo sat on the chair, he was going to pick his words carefully so as not to fuel the anger his father-in-law was feeling towards him.
"She got married to me because she is in love with me" he lied
"She doesn't believe in love, she never has since her mother, but I'm not here to question her reasons, I just want to get her back." Alisha's dad said.
"Dad, I think we should go to bed now and tomorrow we can talk about Alisha" Anna finally spoke up.
They nodded and were heading out of the house, Leonardo asked them to stay in the guest room, Mary offered to serve them all they needed, but they refused to stay in the house if Alisha was not there.
Leonardo sat still in the chair after they had left and Mary had said her good night.
"Is her mom dead? What did her mom do that had made her stop believing in love? Is her story similar to mine?" Leonardo thought deeply
He gave up trying to think about a story he had no clue on and called up his investigators to let him know if there was any lead about his wife.
Alisha woke up and looked around, the room was strange to her and she was alone. She felt slight pain around her ribs as she got up from the bed. She managed to get out of the room, as she approached the living room, she saw a man on the couch watching television.
"Who are you and what am I doing here?" she grabbed a flower vase and said in the most confident voice she could.
"I'm so glad you are awake, I'm Dr. Stone, please sit down, and let me explain."
She sat down on another couch away from him, still holding unto the glass vase.
"Three weeks ago, I was driving back home from the hospital when you crossed the road without looking out for upcoming vehicles, I matched the brakes, but hit you. Your ribs were slightly bruised and you hit your head, you've been unconscious."
"I've been here for three weeks?"
"Yes"
"Why didn't you take me to the hospital, and inform the police, my family will be worried sick."
"I didn't find any ID on you, I didn't want to inform the police because I am a coward and couldn't face the law because I was using my phone while driving. I also didn't take you to the hospital because I wanted to treat you myself."
"I need to go home, where are my clothes?" she asked getting up from the chair, she was wearing a cloth that looked like his."
She did not bother to take a shower, instead she changed into her cloth and was set to go. The Doctor suggested she called the number of anyone she could remember, she was not sure if her dad was aware she was missing, so instead of calling him, she thought about calling Leonardo.
"I don't think I should call my husband, I don't know how he would react, and he would probably break a bone or two from your body, or maybe not something as bad as that, but I am certain he would not say thank you to you."
"Can I at least drive you to the house?" he offered
"Alright, but you will drop me off before you get to the house, I don't want the CCTV around the house to catch your plate number, I don't want him coming to look for you, as much as I am not in support of how you kept me in secret, I do not want you dead either."
"Your husband must really be in love with you" Dr. Stone said as he drove her home.
"Yeah" was all she said, she did not see the need to tell him that she did not love her husband and he did not love her too, or that their marriage was only a contract, or was she to mention that she had not seen him for a month before she went missing, and that now it was a month and three weeks without seeing her husband, or that she was not excited to see him.
She did not need to tell him that she had been married to this man for nine months now yet she did not seem to understand him, he confused her, one minute he was looking at her as if she is the most beautiful woman in the world, the next minute he wants to grab her and kiss her, maybe make love to her, and in a second her guts annoys him and he is willing to stay away from her as long as a month.
"I think it is fine here, I can walk the remaining distance home." She said giving him a weak smile.
"I don't think you should walk, your ribs are still healing, and you are still weak, take a cab." The doctor suggested.
"I will be fine." She said firmly, she wanted to walk the short distance home so she could have a few minutes to think, to take in her realization in the last one hour.
"Thank you" she smiled to the doctor as she waved him off.
She started the walk to the mansion and was just about to start thinking when a car drove past her and packed in front of her.
"Alisha" came the all too familiar voice. Leonardo rushed towards her and embraced her. She was too shocked to respond. "Was this the man that did not want to see her, hear her voice or even replay her text massage?" she asked herself.
"Where have you been? I was so worried, your father almost gun me down, thank God you are safe." He said all in one breathe.
"Ouch" she cried out when his grip around her was hurting her rib
"Are you okay? You look sick" he did not wait for her to respond, instead he carried her and placed her gently in the car.
"I need you to be in my house in five minutes" he said into the phone and hung up
Immediately he drove into the mansion and brought the car to a stop, he rushed to her door.
Without letting her protest, he carried her bridal style into his bedroom, the remodeling work had been done. He placed her gently on his bed.
"Don't move an inch" he said and went out of the bedroom. She admired the new appearance of the room, and after a while she drifted to sleep.
She did not know how long she had slept, the sound of the door opening and voices woke her up.
"Oh my princess" he dad rushed to her side, Anna with him as they gave her kisses.
A man obviously, a doctor came to her side and her dad and Anna gave him space to do his work.
"I will need her to come to the hospital so we can run some test and scan, her ribs doesn't look good, but I doubt if it is broken, but I need to be sure," he said more to Leonardo than to anyone else in the room.
Leonardo nodded and went to her side. He carried her bridal style again and went down the stairs, "I hate that you've grown so lean" he frown, he loved that she was full in his arms, but now she was so light.
He placed her in the car and drove her to the hospital after instructing the driver to bring her dad and Anna to the hospital. The doctor rode in their car.
Alisha was placed in a private room in the hospital when they arrived. Series of test and scan was conducted, and even when the doctor asked that she could be discharged, Leonardo insisted she stayed the night for proper observation.
He was able to convince Anna and her dad to go home, while Mary came along with food for her. Leonardo and Alisha were left in the ward alone.
"Open your mouth" he ordered gently and she shook her head
"I can eat myself there is nothing wrong with my hands, or with any part of my body for that matter."
He ignored her and forced her to take the soup as he fed her.
"Give me any single hint you have on the bastard that did this to you." Leonardo said while still feeding her.
"I think we should forget all that, and move on" Dr. Stone had done what was wrong, but she did not want him to get into any trouble.
He gave her a look that said he was not going to drop the issue until he had punched someone in the face, but then he did not ask her any further questions concerning that matter.
"I'm full" she complained when Leonardo would not stop feeding her.
"You are going to eat up every single thing in this plate, have you seen how skinny you look?"
"Stop exaggerating, I only lost a few pounds, I"d be back to my figure in no time."
"Then eat up" he insisted, she was tired of the meal but he would not stop feeding her.
She pushed away his hand that held the spoon he was using to feed her, she got up from the bed as fast as she could and rushed to the toilet.
She poured away the content of her stomach, she did not like eating more than he stomach wanted to take.
"Are you pregnant? Did the bastard touch you?" Leonardo appeared behind her and asked.
"Really?" he rolled her eyes at him, rinsed her mouth, poured water on her face and went back to bed.
"Talk to me Alisha, did he touch you" the thought that he thinks she was kidnapped and raped disgusted her, she didn't respond to him, instead she laid down properly to sleep.
Leonardo put away the dishes and leftover food, then he went out of the room. He returned a few minutes later with a doctor.
Alisha was already drifting to sleep when they both came in. she woke up when the doctor wanted to draw up a little blood to run a test.
"I thought you've taken all samples and ran all necessary tests?" Alisha asked taking a sitting position on the bed.
"I didn't think this was necessary, but Mr. Leonardo requested for this." She nodded and allowed him do what he needed to do.
Alisha did not go back to sleep after the doctor left, Leonardo stood at a corner of the room, he looked restless and Alisha found it disturbing, she decided to put on the television and see a movie.
She was getting bored with the movie when the doctor came back into the ward with a paper in his hand.
"Mr Leonardo as you requested, we ran pregnancy test on your wife, we used her blood as specimen so we can get even the slightest HCG to know if she is pregnant."
"Really Leo, a pregnancy test" she murmured, but then what did she expect, he asked her if she was raped and she said nothing.
"What does the test result say?" Leonardo asked impatiently.
