Chapter 151 Lydia Actually Managed to Escape
Chapter 151 Lydia Actually Managed to Escape
The cabin lights had already been dimmed to an optimal level for takeoff.
A flight attendant announced the pre-takeoff safety instructions.
Suddenly, a group of people stormed into the cabin and began searching.
The passengers were startled.
"Ladies and gentlemen!
Please remain calm!
We're just conducting a routine pre-takeoff security check.
It won't take long."
After searching the entire cabin, Boris and his team returned to the cabin door to meet up with Ethan. "Miss Hayes isn't on the plane, Mr. Edwards."
Ethan’s expression darkened.
The head flight attendant had never seen anyone as handsome as Ethan.
She lowered her head, flushing slightly.
Ethan turned his head and glanced at her. “Hadn’t she boarded the flight?”
The flight attendant frantically checked the passenger list. “Sir, I’m so sorry! According to my records, the young lady you're looking for in first class felt unwell before boarding and decided not to board..."
Ethan narrowed his blue eyes.
His girl had become bolder and smarter.
Was she deliberately teasing him?
A surge of irritation welled up inside Ethan.
He took long strides down the gangway. “Boris, call them off.”
Marian Harbor.
The ship’s horn bellowed as the massive ocean liner slowly pulled away from the coastline of St. Island.
Only then did Lydia’s heart finally settle.
"I'm leaving. Goodbye forever.”
She leaned against the cabin window, her round eyes staring blankly at the horizon.
Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, partially obscuring her pale, frail face.
Her pale lips pressed tightly together and then parted in resignation.
“Goodbye, St. Island.”
"Goodbye..."
The man who drove her deeper into despair day and night until she went mad—the man who killed her father.
Exhausted, Lydia rested her head against the window, her fingertips clutching the ocean liner ticket James had given her.
Belle had originally prepared this ticket for James so he could leave St. Island.
However, James was so weakened that he simply couldn’t handle the strain of such a journey.
As they were rushing to leave Mond Manor, he shoved the ticket into her hands.
Port City, USA. Elizabeth Hospital.
It was already 10:00 p.m. by the time Lydia arrived at the hospital.
She went straight to the obstetrics and gynecology ward on the fourth floor, to Rose’s ward.
Before going to the black market on St. Island that day, Lydia had chartered a private plane to transport her mother and Rose from St. Island to Port City.
“Mom.” Lydia walked over to the bedside and looked at her mother, who was sitting there.
Charlotte sprang to her feet and asked anxiously, "Lydia, we've been waiting four days—you're finally here."
Lydia pursed her lips, but the words wouldn’t come out.
Charlotte asked, "Have you been all right these past few days? Why do you look so pale?”
Lydia shook her head. "I'm fine, Mom. I just rushed here and didn’t get much rest.”
Charlotte pressed on. “Well, how’s your father doing?”
Putting on a carefree expression, Lydia said with a smile, “Ethan has already figured it out—Dad isn’t Chama. Dad's doing fine for the time being."
Charlotte nodded, then asked, "Then why did you suddenly transfer us to a different hospital and send us all the way out here to Harbor City? What exactly happened?”
There was no point in hiding it anymore, so Lydia told the truth. “I was afraid Ethan would use Rose to get back at Bowie. So it’s better to be prepared early.”
Charlotte let out a sigh of relief, smiled, and turned to pour her daughter a glass of water.
Rose, lying in her hospital bed, woke up.
Her eyes filled with worry as she took Lydia’s hand and asked, "Lydia, have you heard anything from Bowie?"
Lydia’s hand stiffened for a moment.
That night at the railway black market, Lucas—James’s older brother’s alter ego—had rescued Bowie.
Last night at Mond Manor, Lydia had asked James’s personal physician, Dr. Mary, who said that Bowie had left long ago and hadn’t even been to Mond Manor.
That meant he hadn’t fallen into Ethan’s hands yet.
Lydia whispered, "Ethan probably hasn't caught Bowie yet, but I don't know where he's gone either."
Rose bit her lower lip helplessly.
After a moment of silence, she murmured, "No news is the best news."
"Thank you, Lydia.”
Lydia shook her head, looked at her stomach, and asked, "Are you okay? What has the doctor said?"
