Chapter Twelve

EMMA'S POV~

Nothing was more humiliating than your nemesis, seeing you at your weakest. That Bitch! She heard the doctor tell the family that I was now barren. It felt like I had taken over her curse. Even watching Keagan’s mother beat her up after dragging her out from behind the curtain by her hair did nothing to take the pain in my heart away.

Now, I was all alone in this hospital room, stuck in my bed with no idea if Keagan and Jessica were making up. I was under no illusion that Keagan wanted nothing more than an heir from me. His heart belonged to Jessica. I was just a means to an end for him. My eyes burned with unshed tears.

There was nothing I could feel but utter numbness and bitterness. I stared at the I.V. strings connected to my veins with a needle, and all I could feel was loathing—a pure loathing not directed at me but at Jessica. It was her fucking fault. What if Sofia was right, and Jessica had cast a spell on me or tampered with my car to get back at me? Common sense told me it was impossible, seeing as I had left the house with the goal of buying abortion pills to mix into that witch's food later, but the fury in my soul blotted it out.

My chest clenched in pain and I broke down in tears. I lost! I fucking lost and it was all that bitch's fault! Keagan belonged to me! I loved him first.

Tears burned a hot path down my cheeks as I recalled the first time I'd seen Keagan.

```
The auditorium was packed and the air thick with an anticipation that simply said, 'Today is going to be fucking awesome.' As one of the best junior student, Jessica and I were asked to attend the graduating senior's convocation as an external guest would be invited. there were rumors that 'guest' was the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack Family--also the CEO of the biggest Production company in the country.
I couldn't wait to see him...hear him speak. My heart thumped hard and I felt breathless. Next to me was Jessica, who couldn't look more disintrerested and bored. I wanted to yell at her to be attentive. This was going to be epic but before I could, the murmurs hushed as *he* stepped onto the stage. Keagan. Even his name was a caress to my ears.
He was the epitome of an Alpha, exuding confidence with every step he took towards the podium. His suit, tailored to perfection, hugged his well-built frame, and when he smiled, it wasn't just the room that lit up—it was my entire world. I leaned over to Jessica, my excitement bubbling over. "Look at him, Jess! He's... he's like a god among men." But she barely glanced up from her phone, disinterested, her mind elsewhere. UGH!!!!
That night, it seemed like fate was on my side! I found myself in his hotel room, writhing and moaning as he fucked into me. It was the best sex of my life and at twenty-one, I have had a lot of sex. We connected beyond the joining of his penis to my vagina, or so I thought.
To me, it was the beginning of an epic tale, a love story written in the stars. To him? I was just another faceless conquest. He left before I even woke up, leaving me with nothing but the memory of his touch.
But i still never forgot him.
Months passed, I graduated and the news hit me like a freight-train-Jessica, my Jessica, had married, *my* Keagan. The betrayal sliced through me, sharper than any knife could, deeper than the wrought iron that destroyed my womb. She had everything and I was left with nothing, but the shards of a broken dream.
```Flash back over.

I screamed in fury, and yanked out the needles connected to my arm. Sharp pain radiated through me but it was all muted in face of the rage bubbling me in. Screaming, I grabbed the items on the bedside table and hurled them across the hospital ward, a sick satisfaction slucing through me as they shattered loudly against the wall.

I grabbed the flower vase and hurled it again, but the door was kicked open and the nurse on duty that day rushed into the ward. Her eyes widened and she yelped, quickly ducking. The vase missed her head only by a couple inches and it filled ne with rage. I needed to hurt someone as much as I was hurting.

"Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed, carefully stepping around the broken glass on the floor. "What's going on here?"

I glared at the nurse with the most vile look I could muster before redirecting my aggression towards her. I threw the pillow from my bed straight at her, hearing her gasp before I hurled another one.

"Get out of my sight! Get out!" I roared, and the nurse slowly began to back away before disappearing from view. At her exit, something in me shattered and I slid to the floor, sobs racking my entire form. I dug my nails into the back my palm as I cried. I shouldn't have gotten into that fucking accident! It should be Jessica wailing right now and not me! Crimson lined the broken skin and I dug my nails deeper.

What was the point of trying so hard to be with Keagan when I couldn't conceive anymore? I had lost my womb, and I was sure Jessica must be gloating now, wherever she was. My tears suddenly stopped when it struck me that Jessica was pregnant.

Oh, shit! I tensed up.

Did this mean I had truly lost? Would Keagan no longer be mine? Would I never become Luna? I broke into frustrated tears yet again, wrapping my arms around my middle. How had things escalated to this extent? What if the doctor was lying? What if Jessica had bribed him to lie about my womb?

If that bitch could cast a spell on Keagan, what other hideous things was she capable of?

I gritted my teeth and brought down my clenched fists into the tiled floors, over and over again. Then slowly, I rose to my feet. Fuck! I winced. This accident had taken a huge toll on my body so much that even my wolf couldn't help me heal quickly.

Catching my bottom lip between my teeth, I gingerly lowered myself on the bed and gazed at my reflection in the half broken mirror across the room. I could see how my eyes had sunken, how my once beautiful skin had become pale. I now resembled a corpse a.k.a Jessica Stone.

I took a deep breath to calm my boiling rage, but I couldn't hold back anymore—I needed to act. My head started racing with numerous vile ideas of what I could do to Jessica. I needed to retaliate, and nothing on earth would stop me. I would have Keagan, no matter the cost. He was mine first, and I'd burn the world to ashes before I let him go.

Because in the end, it's not just about love. It's about winning, and I was not one to lose.

Just the mere thought of it made my lips curl into a venomous smile.

A few days later, I put on an act of being extremely sad and depressed. I pretended to cry myself to sleep, doing everything I could to convince Keagan and his parents that I was okay and ready to be discharged after two weeks in the hospital.

And finally! Today was the day of freedom! It was time to be discharged.

The ward door clicked open, and Sofia entered, dressed in her usual sophisticated attire. A bright smile pulled her lips almost up to her flawless cheeks.

"Good morning, my dear sweet Emma," she said, closing the distance between us. Then dropped a kiss on my forehead.

"Good morning, Mom," I replied with a pretentious smile and wrapped my arms around her as she offered me a hug. "Where's Keagan?" I asked, looking behind her after we broke the embrace.

Sofia's smile faded, and she sighed. "He couldn't make it. I'm so sorry, dear, but I think he's going through a lot. The woman he had chosen has no womb left, and he's trying so hard to find a solution." Sofia gently stroked my head.

My ears rang with her words. So, Keagan was considering choosing another woman behind my back? All the blood drained from my face.

"Are you saying you'd give your consent for him to find another woman just because I lost my womb?" I asked, sounding shocked. Even Sofia noticed, and I saw her roll her eyes, making my stomach drop.

"Emma, dear, let's not argue. If you were a better option, Keagan would surely choose you. If not, perhaps someone else might. Please be strong. I'd be glad if you understood," Keagan's mother said, and I could feel my eyes beginning to water. "Let's not make things any ugly than they already are. You are welcome to stay at our house until you're back on your feet."

My nostrils flared, and my jaw tightened, but I forced a smile as Sofia placed a hand on my shoulder. No wonder Jessica looked like a freaking corpse. Sofia was evil! She didn't even bat a lash as all she cared about was a grandchild. Now that I wasn't useless for her goals, her affections has gone to the wind. If Jessica told her that she was pregnant, I knew she would instantly forgive her crimes of using a love potion on her son. I clenched my fists, wishing I could tear her hand away from her body.

But I couldn't so I quietly watched as the guards came to take my belongings, while a maid and the nurse helped me to my feet to walk out of the ward.

After several hours, we arrived back at the mansion, and yet Keagan hadn't come down to receive me. It made me feel utterly useless. I bit my lip to hold back the cry that was about to escape. I strode into the house, straight to my room, and locked myself in, staring at the ceiling and contemplating what I should do next. I guess I drifted up to sleep.

It was already evening when I next opened my eyes. I slowly crept out of my room, only to realize that it was oddly silent, which unnerved me. That's when I caught sight of Jessica, who was chewing on an apple while on a phone call, casually making her way to her room.

My eyes narrowed in deep hatred. Look how free she looked. Why should she be happy when I'm not? Why should she be pregnant when I am not?

This bitch would pay! I swore on my blood.

I stormed back into my room, grabbed my phone, and began searching for a number. I hadn't used this number in years and now Jessica was forcing me back to my old ways. Dialing it, I waited for the person to answer.

"Hello?"

"How much to eliminate a person?" I asked without beating around the bush.

When the person didn't reply immediately, I checked the phone, worried if the call was somehow disconnected. But to my surprise, it was still ongoing. My lips pressed into a frown. "Are you there?"

"Do you have my account details?" the distorted male voice asked in a cold, nasal voice. My grip on my phone tightened.

"I lost my first phone in an accident—"

He cut me off, clearly uninterested in my explanation. "I'll send it again to this number. Who do you need me to eliminate? A kid? A lady? An elderly person? I need 15 million dollars, and consider the job done. There's no negotiation. I'm under several disguises as I'm being hunted." He cleared his voice, which did nothing but send chills through my blood.

"Okay," I whispered. "I'll do it. I'll send you her photo, so make sure you get your men ready."

With a hum, he hung up. I exhaled the breath I'd been holding and clutched the phone to my chest before deleting the number from my call logs.

Sorry, best friend, but Keagan was still mine, and I couldn't afford to lose him—not after publicly declaring to my friends how I was to be his next Luna. Either Jessica would die, or her baby would be gone.
