Chapter 107- She's Here.

"Alpha, we have put out the fire", a guard said, approaching Asher who nodded,

"Thank you. We shall begin repairs immediately this is over", he announced, his voice barely above a whisper, "I want two guards down in the dungeons and two more at the entrance. Make sure Darian does not do anything funny", the man nodded and got straight to it.

Asher heaved out a sigh and looked down at the woman who slept soundly beside him. His hand held hers and he hadn't even for a second left her side since the doctor told him what to do.

"Her lungs are filled with smoke", the doctor had said to him, "It is not the usual kind of werewolf injury that I take care of so I am unsure of how she will fare", he said, "Her damage is internal, not external and all I know is that it is wise for her mate to be beside her at this time",

"You think using the traditional method will save her?", Asher asked, raising an eyebrow up- this method had not been used in a while. It was so old and archaic that everyone had forgotten that it worked like a charm,

"Of course", the doctor nodded, "It has never failed. All you have to do is be at her side for the next twenty four hours. The presence of your wolf will give her more than enough time to heal herself and if we are lucky, it will be less".

Asher had agreed to it without hesitation, after all, how hard can sitting in the same spot for twenty four hours or less be?

For Asher, that was a big problem as he wasn't used to it. He was always on the move, going from one place to another and by the time six hours had gone by, his restless self started to surface. He needed to walk, he wanted to feel the fresh evening breeze on his skin, he felt like he was being suffocated by Viola's sweet scent because whenever he breathed, that was all he could smell and it drived him to the edge of insanity.

He was bored to say the least and tending to someone who was knocked out and unconscious was not the best way to kill it. He craved some action by the eighth hour- yes, it was just eight hours but it felt like a fucking year. Whenever he would look at the clock, it felt like it was ticking slower, trying to taunt him and play with his emotions.

"Fuck!", he swore in a whisper and stood to his feet, strentching out his limbs, every bone in his body cracking loudly after being in one place for a long period of time. Of course, while he did this, his hand never left hers and at that point, he felt like their hands were glued together because even if he tried to pull his hand away, he knew he was also going to experience pain resetting it due to the awkward position it had been in.

Twelve hours- twelve fucking hours and he felt like he had crossed the border of insanity a while back when the clock showed that he had been in there for ten hours. From time to time, he would take a quick glance at the beautiful woman beside him and wonder how he had not seen her before but then, he would turn his face and hope she didn't catch him staring like a creep.

Yes, he was just begining to veiw Viola as a woman and not the little girl who without doing anything annoyed the hell out of him and he wondered if he could take his chances with her... No! For one, she would never forgive him for what he did to her, heck! He would not even forgive himself if he were in her shoes and secondly, a part of him still loved and wanted to be with Imogen- his mate's sister.

Imogen... as much as he wanted to hate her for all she had done and caused him, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Just like he could not kill Darian for betraying his trust and planning an entire coup against him.

He was deep in his thoughts when the door opened and Liam walked in with a shocked and surprised look on his face. At first, Asher had not even noticed that his brother had stepped into the room antil his feet came into Asher's line of vision. He blinked twice and looked up at his brother who looked like he wanted to speak but was unable to- his mouth was gaping open and close like a fish brought out of water, "Damn it, Liam! Speak!", Asher did not have time for this, he still had twelve more hours to go and he was cranky as hell about it.

"Imogen... she's here", Liam sputtered out and Asher immediately stood to his feet,

"What?", he whispered, tears clouding his eyes as he tried to digest what his younger brother had said,

"Imogen is here", Liam sighed and without thinking, Asher dropped Viola's hand and began to head for the door, surprising the hell out of Liam, "What the fuck are you doing?", he asked, following after his brother, "Do not leave this room, Asher!",

"Why the fuck not?!", Asher's featured displayed anger, hurt and pain- the tears falling down his cheeks were proof of what he was feeling, he felt like nothing but hell.

"Because you need to be with Viola!", Liam said and Asher's eyes hardened as if too say that he no longer cared, but the fact was that he did- he cared a little too much for his own good but he also knew that he had to face his demons and she was here. The woman who had been torturing him mentally and emotionally was finallhy here and had come out of her hiding place. "Think about it Asher, would you really allow Viola, your mate to doe just because you want to confront her? DThat can wait Asher, this cannot", Liam tried to reason with him but Asher shook his head,

He wanted to face her now and he also wanted to be with Viola- he craved to be by herself for the entire time but he had a lot going through his mind. He didn't know how or what to feel and he most definitely did not know what to do. One part of him wanted to stay with Viola while the other part of him wanted to face Imogen once and for all and ask her all the million and one questions that had been roaming through his head since the day she left him but was it really worth it?

Was watching his own mate die really worth it?

He scoffed and shook his head, going back to his seat and taking Viola's hand once again, "No, it's not worth it", he voiced the way he felt.

Liam nodded and pressed his lips together, "I wanted to ask if I could bring her in here- she wants to see Viola... and you", he stated and Asher sighed, what a good way to kill two birds with one stone, huh? He nodded and Liam went back outside, reappearing with Imogen in the span of a minute.

The moment their eyes collided, Asher felt his heart break all over again and he had to squeeze Viola's hand tightly to keep himself grounded. His eyes trailed over her body and he realized that she actually looked kempt for someone who had been on the run. A small sigh left her lips as she broke off eye contact and headed towards the bed with slow, calculated steps. She stood at the foot of the bed, still avoiding eye contact with Asher but her eyes occassionally darted to where his hand held her sister's.

Asher had thought about all the questions he had to ask her but he had suddenly become speechless, he could not talk- just stare at her as if he had seen a ghost but just when he was able to even form something in his head to say to her, she beat him to it- destroying the uncomfortable silence that filled the room, "I'm sorry", was all she said and Asher scoffed,

"You're sorry? Do not fucking tell me that Imogen! I do not need an apology from you, I need a fucking explanation", he spat. She was about to speak when Asher continued, "I mean, how do you leave someone with just a fucking note to show for it?",

"Note?", Imogen's face morphed into curiosity, "What note are you talking about? I didn't leave any note", she said genuinely and moved closer to him. He gave her an incredulous look as he shoved his free hand into his pocket and pulled out the piece of paper that had ruined his life. He handed it to her and she opened it- the more she read, the more confused she got and at that point, her face was scrunched up in anger and annoyance. She finished reading the contents and handed it back to him, "I did not write that", she toold him.

"But it's your handwriting, Imogen", he pointed out through gritted teeth, what the hell was going on?

"Yes, it is. Which is why I am shocked since I can't remember writing that", she raked and raked and raked her brain trying to recall whether or not she had wriiten that letter to Asher or anybody but she could've sworn that she didn't.

"That motherfucker!", Asher suddenly burst out, taking her by surprise and she gave him a look of questioning, "He forged this", he scrunched the paper up and threw it to the other side of the rrom in anger.
