Lucas's POV.

I was scared, I was terrified, I was panicky, and I was experiencing several different emotions I had never experienced in my life. Deep down, I wholeheartedly wanted Lana to survive and continue living. Because, to be honest, I had observed Lana from a distance before and grown quite fond of her. Her death would be an absolute nightmare, and I was not willing to accept it.

But as I carried her on my body, I didn't feel that her chances of surviving were high. She was losing way too much blood, and her skin was way too pale for any medical help to work at such a time. The only time drugs and blood transfusions would have made a significant change would probably be at the point immediately after she was being tortured.

But she had lost too much blood, and observing it from a statistical point of view, I didn't think she was going to survive. And therefore, when I handed her over to the doctors and nurses, I didn't think they would be able to save her, but I prayed with all I had.

I desperately wanted Lana to continue living and to experience all life had in store for her. She had simply gotten hurt because she was trying to save her pride, and she didn't deserve to die because of it.

It was all Edwina's fault, and I wanted to kill Edwina so desperately with my bare hands. As soon as I handed Lana over to the doctors and nurses, I immediately went on a search for Edwina. I didn't like the idea that I had failed to tell Lucian about Edwina before. But as soon as I found her, I would make sure to inform Lucian.

I thought that perhaps if Edwina was truly wise, she would try to run away or hide somewhere until this blew over. She probably wasn't aware as to whether or not Lucian knew about her betrayal yet, and maybe she was hiding somewhere until further confirmation. I went around the entire hospital in search of her, but I learned that she and Lucian came into the hospital with Elena not long ago.

I still felt moved to where they were but decided not to do anything yet. There was a chance Edwina could escape if I did not handle things carefully, therefore I decided to observe her and wait for her to be in a place where she had no chance of escaping.

She dragged the nurse into another room, and after a while, she came back wearing the nurse's dress. Clearly, she planned to infiltrate either Lana's or Elena's room and murder either one. Therefore, as soon as she entered Elena's room, I came out of my hiding place and quickly rushed in.

She was just about to poison Elena when I reached out for her hand and stopped her. The fear in her eyes was raw, and I could tell she had not expected me to catch her. I was glad that I had prevented her from doing something irreparable.

"What are you doing, Edwina?" I said with a very serious gaze as I stared down at her.

Edwina was dumbstruck as this scenario had not played out as part of her plan. She had been scrutinized but still tried to lie her way through it. "Well, well, I'm just giving Elena her dose," Edwina said with a shy smile on her face.

"Oh really? I thought something like that was for the nurses. From what I know, you are not a nurse, and I also know you stole this dress from a nurse you knocked out in the room right behind this one. You were going to kill Elena, weren't you? Your deal with Alpha Derrick went south, and this is your way of ending her. Maybe after killing Elena, you would have probably gone to kill Lana, huh? Unfortunately, that's not going to happen, and I'm taking you to Lucian right now."

"Hold on, hold on, Lucas. Come now, let's think this through. You know exactly what Lucian is going to do if he finds out about all this. Perhaps we can make an arrangement where both of us can mutually benefit. You are the last person that knows about my dealings with Alpha Derrick, so if you can just turn a blind eye to all this, you won't know just how much I'll appreciate that," Edwina said and began to caress my chest with her other hand.

"Unfortunately, we can't make any arrangement because I am loyal to Lucian, and my loyalty requires me to tell him about this. Maybe if you just tell him yourself and come right out with it, he won't kill you. One way or the other, Lucian has to know, and it doesn't have to be from me. But if you keep on delaying, I'm going to have to tell Lucian everything," I said flatly.

"Come now, Lucas. Let's not be hasty here... I know you've never had a woman before. How about you have one now? There's a reason I was Lucian's favorite for a very long time. I'll let you have me whenever you want if you let this go," Edwina said and began to unzip my pants.

I immediately removed her hand and zipped my pants back up. I turned her around and held her by the neck before bringing her close enough to hear my words.

"You see, now there is only one problem with that. You may be a horrible person, but I don't think you are willing to have two men have their way with you back to back on a daily basis. Which means as soon as you have the opportunity, you are going to get rid of me without a second thought. And second, that can never happen because I have principles," I said into Edwina's ears before forcefully dragging her out of the room.

As soon as I threw her out of the room, she hit the wall outside pretty hard, making a loud sound. This sound caught everybody's attention, including Lucian, who was in another waiting room.

As soon as Lucian arrived at the scene of Edwina on the ground and me standing over her, he turned to me sharply with an angry look on his face. "Lucas, what the hell are you doing? Have you lost your mind? How dare you hit Edwina like this? What has gotten into you?" he asked, approaching me angrily.

"My Lord, I believe Edwina here has something she wants to tell you," I said as I stared down at Edwina.

"What do you mean?" Lucian asked and then turned his attention to Edwina. "Edwina, what is he talking about? If Lucas has been treating you badly, tell me, but I would like to know what it is you want to tell me," Lucian said, staring at Edwina.

"It's nothing, Lucian, don't worry about it. Lucas is just being paranoid, and it's a matter we can overlook," Edwina said, trying to signal to me not to say anything.

"Well, if it's something that we can overlook, then I don't think Lord Lucian would mind. How about I just go ahead and tell him?" I said with a straightforward face.

"Lucas, please don't do this. Once you do, everything will be ruined," Edwina said with tears in her eyes.

"What the hell is this? What the hell is going on? You two better start explaining what this whole thing means," Lucian said, his eyes darting from Edwina to me.

"Lord Lucian, it would interest you to know that every single thing that had happened today was all because of Edwina," I finally blurted out, revealing Edwina's secret.

"What do you mean, Lucas? I am going to need you to elaborate a lot more because a lot of things have happened today. Tell me exactly what you mean when you say Edwina is responsible for what happened," Lucian said with his attention at its maximum.

"Edwina is responsible for everything. Her hatred for Elena has grown substantially every day for the past months. As soon as Elena arrived, Edwina has hated her, but at the beginning, she didn't see Elena as much of a threat. Eventually, when you began to spend way too much time with Elena, Edwina realized that Elena was going to take you away from her. Therefore, she planned to get rid of Elena. Her plan involved having Alpha Derrick dispose of her after she had paid him. Therefore, she tricked Elena into following her on a drive and handed her over to Alpha Derrick and his men. Alpha Derrick took Elena in and tried to do all sorts of vile things with her. But it so happened that he took a special liking to her and didn't want to kill Elena anymore. He therefore refused to carry out his end of the bargain even after Edwina had paid him handsomely. In her rage, Edwina did all she could to make sure Elena died. She laced an abortion drug with liver poison, and that is why Elena is unconscious right now. Also, she was the one that held Luna back, making her unable to return to the pack that night. Everything that has been happening all along has been seriously and carefully planned by Edwina. We can say all the men that died today were because of her, and if I hadn't stopped Edwina a few minutes ago, she would have killed Elena and Lana as well," I said, breaking the news to Lucian.

Lucian had a stunned look on his face. He was shocked by what he had heard and took a step back to clear his head. His eyes slowly moved from me down to Edwina, who was currently shaking in terror on the ground. Clearly, all her plans had been exposed, and she had nowhere to run.

"Edwina, why? Just tell me why you could be so cruel and evil. I gave you everything you wanted every time, and just when I fell for someone else, you decide to make thousands and thousands of men suffer. Elena never even hurt you, and yet you hated her so much that you befriended her just to slaughter her. How could you be this wicked?" Lucian asked, taking in the news.

"I'm not the one that's wicked, Lucian, it's you. We had basically built a life together, and you didn't even hesitate to toss me aside when you saw someone who you thought was better. I practically built my life around you, and yet you expected me to sit aside and watch you take someone else. I was never going to do that, and if it involved sacrificing 1,000 people or even a million, I was willing to do it," Edwina said with tears in her eyes.

"And Lana? What about Lana? Lana was your blood sister, and the two of you grew up together, yet you didn't hesitate to hurt her so badly to the extent she's currently in a coma and unlikely to survive. You have basically killed your sister with your own hands. Do you have an excuse for being so ruthlessly evil?"
