Chapter 23 Chapter 23

Chapter 23 Chapter 23
Amira's POV

I got to my feet and hurried upstairs to the room. When I arrived, I knew I had to keep up the pretense till the end, so I went straight into the bathroom.

I stayed there for almost twenty minutes. When I finally came out, I noticed the bathroom was attached to the room. Still feeling tense, I lay down on the bed to rest.

I had only planned to rest, not sleep or take a nap, but somehow, I ended up falling completely asleep.

I opened my eyes when a sudden itch startled me.

“Ah!” I screamed, jolting upright. “What, what nonsense is this?”

I was so shocked that I cursed without even thinking.

Standing before me were three men.

What the hell were they doing here? Worse still, why were they scaring me like this?

“We were watching you sleep,” Maximus admitted shamelessly.

I rolled my eyes.
“And who asked you to?”

Just an hour ago, I had been anxious, wishing not to see them for a while, yet here I was acting bold. Truth was, I wasn’t brave at all, I was provoked and angry.

What did they think of themselves? Just because they were alphas, did that mean they could do whatever they pleased? Even invade someone’s privacy?

I was so furious that I didn’t stop to reason that they owned the mansion and could walk into any room they wanted. So what exactly did I mean by privacy?

“Woman, watch your mouth.”

I snorted at Santiago’s warning. He wasn’t standing close anymore; he was leaning against the wall.

While I stood there in silence, he spoke again.

“If you’re done playing the seductress, kindly leave the room.”

“What?”

“You heard me.”

I blinked, refusing to believe what I’d just heard. Seductress?

I could tolerate many insults, but not that. Even if they had accused me of liking them, I wouldn’t have minded as much.

“Do you hear yourself? Repeat what you just said.” I stood up and stepped closer to him. “Just because of who you are doesn’t give you the right to belittle people or say stupid things!”

I shouted, tears stinging my eyes. I sniffed them back.

Santiago laughed bitterly. “Are you done with your drama?”

My face burned instantly. The humiliation hurt more than anything. Was he even human? I was telling him what hurt me, and all he could do was dismiss it as drama.

My hands clenched tightly when Alex suddenly stepped in front of me. His gaze was fixed on my blouse.

I was about to snap again when I noticed his expression.
“Your button,” he said, pointing.

A bad feeling crept in. When I looked down, shame washed over me.

“Shit,” I cussed.

My blouse was open, exposing my innerwear, and of all colors, I had worn red. No wonder Santiago had called me a seductress.

Still, he had no right to say that.

I bit my lip, wondering if I should apologize.

“What do you have to say in your defense?” Santiago asked.

I stared at him, every trace of warmth in me turning cold. “Oh, so you think you can mock me because of a blouse I didn’t even know was open?” I scoffed. “Joker.”

I stormed out of the room.

I couldn’t even explain what was happening to me. Lately, every little provocation from the triplets sent my blood boiling, and I always snapped back at them.

I had tried to caution myself, but it wasn’t working. It was best I stayed far away from them and their affairs, maybe then I wouldn’t keep showing my sharp tongue.

As I walked out, I noticed Santiago’s jaw clenched and a vein throbbing at his temple, but I didn’t care. He had said and done worse to me before. He could endure being called a joker just this once.

I went downstairs and joined the maids in the kitchen. The rest of the day passed smoothly since I didn’t see any of them. Lily later informed me they had gone for a meeting.

“You may follow me to your room,” she said as I stepped out of the kitchen.

“Mmm,” I nodded.

I hadn’t actually planned to leave the kitchen, but one of the maids came to tell me that Lily was calling for me.

“The room on the left is yours,” she said as we moved closer. I nodded. “And the room on the right belongs to Alpha Santiago.”

“What?”

How could Santiago’s room be right next to mine?

“Are you okay?” Lily asked, concern etched on her face.

“Sorry, it’s nothing,” I said with a forced smile. My reaction must have startled her.

After giving me a brief look to be sure I was fine, she continued the tour.

“And this room is Alpha Alex’s.”

“Pfft.”

“And the last room is Maximus’s, right?” I asked before she could finish.

“Mmm,” she nodded. “But how did you know?”

I rolled my eyes. Wasn’t it obvious? She had mentioned Santiago first, so the rest naturally followed.

Ignoring her question, I finally asked what had been bothering me since we got here. “Can I ask why their rooms are next to mine?”

Back at the old mansion, I stayed in an entirely different building, far away from theirs. Even if we had moved into a single building now, things shouldn’t have changed this much. At the very least, my room should have been far from theirs.

Lily tilted her head and shrugged. “I don’t know…”

I sighed. Before she could say anything else, I brushed past her and entered my room, slamming the door shut behind me.

What was I thinking, expecting Lily to give me an honest answer? Even if I had stayed, I already knew what she would have said, that it was because I was the Luna.

To hell with being a Luna.

I had barely stepped inside when my mouth fell open.

The room was enormous, but that wasn’t what shocked me. Everything inside was top-class, every detail screamed elegance.

Classy.

My gaze settled on the plush white bed before drifting to the decorative bulbs illuminating the room.

For a moment, I nearly ran back out. Had Lily mistaken another room for mine? But that couldn’t be true. The room had a feminine touch, and Lily wouldn’t make such a careless mistake.

After spending almost thirty minutes admiring the space, I finally dragged myself to the bathroom to bathe. Once again, a gasp escaped me. The bathroom was just as spacious and filled with luxury.

That night, I slept like a baby.

The next morning, a knock sounded at my door.

I rubbed my sleepy eyes. “Who is it? Come in.”

Thank the stars I hadn’t locked the door last night, or I would’ve had to get up half-asleep to open it. The door opened, and a maid stepped inside.

“Hi,” I yawned, opening one eye to look at her. “What can I do for you?”

“You’re needed downstairs for breakfast.”

I glanced at the wall clock, surprised. It wasn’t even daylight yet, just 6 a.m.

Noticing my expression, she smiled. “We’re having a party here this evening, and Madam Lily wants you to eat early before we begin cleaning.”

“Oh,” I nodded, my interest clearly lacking.

Imagine that. I had been with Lily the entire day yesterday, yet no one thought it necessary to inform me about the party.

“You may go,” I said. “I’ll freshen up and come downstairs.”

She nodded and left.

I stood up, locked the door, and took a quick bath before heading to the dining room.
