Chapter Seventy-Three: Solution.
LOKI was walking back and forth inside his office. He has to talk to the elder vampire who took Shiloh. One of them sabotages his pack which means that it isn’t his fault, but it’s the other way around.
A knock from the door made him stop walking.
“Come in.”
Lincoln went inside and then bowed his head.
“We’ve already collected all the gemstones from those who bought it. The jewelry is outside the palace,” Lincoln coughed. “But we are starting to feel something weird. I am feeling dizzy. Do you know something that can stop its effect?”
“To be honest, I didn’t know either. If you’re not feeling well, stay here and I will go to the pack elders to talk to them, especially Elder Damon. He’s the oldest and I’m sure he encountered this before…”
“Y-yes,” Lincoln coughed. “Please don’t get near the gemstones. Now that it was gathered, it gets stronger.”
Loki nodded before he went out of his office. He can feel the strong power of the gemstones from outside of the palace so he didn’t use the front door. Instead, he used the back door.
He took three royal guards with him and went straight to Elder Damon’s house to ask him.
As soon as he arrived at Elder Damon’s house, he immediately saw him standing at the front door. He was standing there while holding a cup of tea.
Damon is 300 years old now yet he looked like in his 60s. He was able to survive all of the wars that happened in the Verlice. All of the Roosevelts died but he remained stronger.
“I heard what happened,” Damon started. “Go inside and I will tell you a solution.”
Loki didn’t waste time, he quickly went inside his house. Damon followed him all the way to the receiving area.
“Have a seat,” Damon said.
“No, I just need to ask you what kind of medication we can use to cure the illness that was spreading caused by the gemstone.”
“Loki, you’re stressed. You need to sit down, calm down, and don’t panic.”
He let out a hard exhale. “How can I be calm in this kind of situation? My Queen was hostage by the vampires because they think that we are stealing these gems from us. When in fact, one of the vampires just framed us!” he yelled.
He was so frustrated. It’s getting late and he still has no solution. He was worried sick about his wife. How is he going to save her?
But Damon just stared at him and then sipped on the cup of tea before he replied.
“Calm down, Loki. That’s the reason why you’re always getting into trouble. Whenever something like this happens, you’re always frustrated. You are a King Alpha, you have to practice being calm at all times. Your father is the calmest King Alpha I’ve met but not you.”
Loki was forced to sit down while he was still frustrated. He wanted to talk back to Damon and ask him how to calm down… but instead, he continued listening to his words.
“Being calm at these times can make you think better. Because if you're panicking and frustrated, you won’t be able to come up with a good solution. Now, close your eyes and breath in, Loki.”
Hesitating, he still closed his eyes and then breathed in and out. He continued doing that until he finally felt that he was calming.
“Now listen to me, Loki. The solution is wolfsbane,” he said.
His eyes widened. “What did you say? Did I hear it right? Wolfsbane?”
“Yes, your highness,” he replied.
“That’s impossible! Do you want to kill all the werewolves in our pack?”
“Why would I think of that?” Elder Damon asked. “The negativity of wolfsbane would push through the negative characteristics of the gemstone.”
“I don’t understand…”
“You have to ask for a human’s help because it will risk your life. Let that human get wolfsbane for you,” he said. “Once the wolfsbane entered our pack, the negativity of the gemstone will push through, only the positive one will be left out.”
“Like a magnet?”
Damon nodded. “But there’s a challenge to it.”
“What is it?”
“Once the negativity of the gemstone was pushed out. You’ll notice that the people will start to heal but if the wolfsbane is near the gemstone, it will cause a great disaster.”
“It will create a more dangerous illness?” Loki asked.
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Then what should we do?”
“You have to put all the infected in one place, then bring out the wolfsbane. Once the negativity was pushed out. You have to bring out the gemstone together with the wolfsbane.”
“So I have to ask two humans to do it?”
“Humans can’t touch the gemstone? It will burn their hands.”
He swallowed the lump in his throat. Now he realized what he should do.
“You’re not going to die if you do it, Loki. You just have to do it quickly. But then, even if you don’t die. You will have to recover from it for a week. Remember that you’re a King Alpha and you’re stronger than anyone else. You are the only one who can do that.”
“Is there another way? Can we just take the gemstone out of the pack? We collected it earlier and most of my soldiers are still fine.”
“They are fine earlier. What do you think now?”
The calm in his chest started to fill with nervousness. What is happening to his people now?
“Getting near the gemstone or holding it will cause illness to a werewolf but to a Lycan like you, it’s not that strong. The problem is, you can’t just take out the gemstone from the boundary of our pack. Someone surely put on a barrier to prevent it from coming out. There’s someone who really wants to kill our pack.”
“That’s Alistair Saurmoure…” he murmured.
“Did you say, Alistair?” Damon asked in surprise.
“Yes, why?”
Damon stepped back, he was surprised!
“Alistair is a vampire who opposed the agreement between werewolves and vampires. Everyone thought he was dead. I think he just… slept for a century,” he replied. “Now that he’s alive, he will do everything to wipe off our pack.”
