Chapter twelve
“That’s the reason why you’ve got scales on your wolf,” I said softly, breaking the silence.
“Yes, and the size of my wolf is based on the body size of what my dragon would have been.” He said and I saw him give me a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“And the fire breathing? The wings?” I asked curiously.
“They faded away over time leaving me with one other thing. The voice of my wolf.” He said and I gave a shaky laugh.
“Yeah, your wolf has quite the voice,” I said.
He smiled and took my hands in his and gave me a smile that didn’t look right on his face especially since he wasn’t big in smiling.
“You never have to be afraid of me or my wolf neither of us will hurt you. But you must understand, my father has found my location and knows about you. This means he will stop at nothing to have our son or daughter because I am no longer the rightful heir for the Dragon Kingdom,” he said, and a look of determination crossed over his features.
I nodded and leaned in to brush my lips over his. A growl erupted from his chest and he pulled me against him.
I tapped his upper arm, and he broke the kiss.
“Too soon,” I said and smiled. I got up and extended my hand. He took it and we walked in comfortable silence back to the pack house where his car and the other jeep waited.
No one of my old pack said goodbye and I was slightly disappointed but understood that I’d broken the law.
We got into the Porsche and drove in silence back to the mountains.
Once we’d reached pack lands, the radio was playing a tune which I openly hummed along to.
We got to the house and my stomach made the loudest sound. I blushed in embarrassment and Lucian laughed softly.
“You work up quite an appetite, princess,” he said and went around to open the door for me and taking my hand.
After getting a delicious plate of food we sat on the couch flipping through random movies.
“Oh. That one!” I said pointing to the screen. He stopped on a familiar-looking cover and looked at me.
“Five Feet Apart?” he said, and I nodded. He pressed play and snuggled into his side while he had an arm wrapped around my shoulders.
A few minutes into the movie and Natasha and Nate walked in.
“Oh, dear. We can sit somewhere else.” Natasha said and I saw Lucian open his mouth.
“No, please. Sit, it isn’t like we’re going to have sex on the couch.” I said and they laughed, while I could have sworn Lucian muttered that he wouldn’t mind doing just that.
I gently pinched his side and he grinned at me before kissing my forehead.
After the movie had ended, Natasha had fallen asleep and Nate picked her up bridal style and bid us goodnight before retreating to their room.
“We should also be getting to bed. It’s been a rough day.” Lucian whispered and I felt the instant rush of need course through my body.
I frowned, not understanding where the sudden need had come from. Lucian looked at me and let out a shaky breath while his eyes turned dark.
“Yeah, let’s go upstairs,” I said in a rushed voice and switched the television off before we rushed up the steps.
I pushed the door open and entered the dark room. I heard the click of the door and spun around to meet Lucian who stood directly behind me.
His hands shook and by the aura surrounding him, he too felt aroused.
“Why don’t you come closer?” I said and he didn’t move.
“After today, I’m afraid to hurt you.” He said and I closed the gap between us before grabbing the material of his white shirt and pulling his face down so his lips could meet mine with a burning force.
He growled and kissed back but never put a hand on me. I broke the kiss and took his hands and placed them on the buttons of my jeans.
With our faces inches apart, I whispered softly in his ear.
“Touch me, Lucian.”
He growled and opened the button, sliding his hand down under both the denim and lace of my underwear. His other arm went under me to hoist me up and placed me up against the wall.
He kissed me and I felt my lips burn while his hand went to work under my jeans.
His hand worked magic and I broke the kiss to let out sharp pants. My legs that were wrapped around his waist tightened and I felt my skin begin to burn up like fire.
This wasn’t usual for me and Lucian had noticed as well because he broke away and dropped me gently as sweat had my hair sticking to my face and my breathing coming out in pants.
I looked at him in the moonlight that shone from the balcony window and everything began to blur.
“Tessa?” He said but it was so distant, like a voice in the back of my mind.
“Lucian, I’m not feeling too well,” I said and sunk back against the wall.
Lucian kneeled by my side and he placed his hand on my forehead.
“Tessa, you’re burning up.” He murmured as he tucked his arm under my leg and used the other one under my neck as if carrying me like a baby.
We rushed out of the room and everything was so blurred out as if I were having a dream.
“Tessa, stay with me,” were Lucian’s last words before everything just decided to go black.
I’d read up on wolf dreams when I was still in my old pack but nothing in those ancient books said anything about what was happening.
I saw a little boy, no older than ten, surrounded by other dragons. He looked so nervous and scared and I had to stop myself from reaching out and giving him a hug.
An older man came into view, but his features weren’t clear in this dream. He shouted at the young boy saying why he couldn’t be just like other dragons.
The young boy began to sniffle, and the older man raised his hand, and I knew what was about to go down.
“No!” I screamed, running towards the little boy but it was too late. He’d smacked the left side of the boy’s face.
I sniffed the air that smelt like burning skin and when the boy turned, I gasped, covering my mouth with one hand.
A pattern had burnt itself on the boy’s adorable face and I looked at an old man’s hand that was covered in hot metal.
The little boy then had a look of determination on his face then sprouted the most beautiful pair of dragon wings I’d ever seen.
The father had a smug look on his face and the boy jumped up flying into the air, gushing winds with his big wings…
