Chapter 39 Thirty Nine
Elara's POV
“..... The sheer audacity they ordered from Amazon still surprises me. How dare they try to ambush us?’. Cyric ranted, his eyes locked onto mine.
“I am still trying to wrap my fingers around it. Who could have sent the wrong message to us?” Throne inquired, breathing furiously.
“We have to get to the end of this. We can't let this slide just like that.” Aria urged, defiance etched on her face.
Just then, a knock sounded on the door. The door opened almost immediately and a nurse walked in.
“Good day, Boss. I have come with great news. Doctor kael asked me to inform you that the wounded thug has finally woken up and is ready to be interviewed.”
My eyes lit up with interest as I turned to the nurse, a sly smile playing on my lips.
"Really? What an excellent timing," I said, a hint of a smile on my face.
"We'll get to the bottom of this ambush once and for all. I need to find out more about Silvester. Why did he decide to attack my pack?”
"Let's go." I motioned, nodding to Aria to follow me. We followed the nurse out of the room, our footsteps echoing down the hallway as we made our way to the clinic tent.
The thug's awakening was a breakthrough. What I had been praying for and I was ready to extract every piece of information from him.
As we approached the room, I braced myself for the interrogation ahead. The thug would have no other option but to spill everything, and I would finally have my answers and crush Silvester
The doctor spun around the moment he heard approaching footsteps. He pulled out his stethoscope from his ear, draping it around his neck. A professional smile scribbled on his lips.
“Good morning, Doc.” I greeted, moving over to the bedside of the thug who stared back at me, his eyes lifeless.
The doctor bowed at me, motioning for the nurses to leave. They left behind Aria and I and the wounded man.
“Hello and welcome back to the living. You know why I am here. You have a lot of explaining to do. I didn't waste my resources and medical supplies just so you can breathe the same air I breathe.”
“..... Ma'am I would say everything. Anything at all you want me to say, I will say it.” The thug whimpered, his voice hoarse.
“Good.” I clapped my hands, taking a seat beside him.
“Who sent you?.” I inquired, my curiosity piqued, my voice dripped with venom.
“Silvester….. Silvester paid us to attack your pack.”
My grip on the bedsheet tightened.
Silvester!
Fucking Silvester
I knew that moron wouldn't stop until he had ruined me. How foolish was she to think attacking me would make me weak.
“How did you guys know about the west gate? How did you all know that is the weakest point in my syndicate?”. I queried further, my voice low yet menacing.
“Three spies he had delegated to do an internal job returned a day to the attack. They fed us with information and we were able to carry out the plan smoothly.”
Aria's jaw dropped. Her eyes widened.
The same spies I had caught, threatened and freed to help me destroy Silvester had turned their backs on me.
I bit my lower lip firmly, my mind racing. I exhaled a sharp breath, furiously.
“Three spies? The same ones I spared? They have the effrontery to rebel against me after I spared their lives?”
My anger simmered, and I felt a cold fury rising.
“Those spies try to mess with me? They will pay dearly for their betrayal," I hissed, my voice barely above a whisper.
I turned to Aria, my eyes blazing with determination. "You and Darius will help me find them and when you do, you bring them to me. I'll make sure they regret ever crossing me."
Aria nodded, a determined expression set on her face.
“Yes, Boss.”
I turned back to the thug, my gaze piercing deep into his soul.
“Tell me more about Silvester's. His plans? What's his endgame? What is his motive? Why is he being a pain in my ass?
The thug swallowed hard hesitating.
I raised my fist at him, he flinched, his eyes darting around the room. "He...he wants to take over your territory, ma'am. He plans to take over your territory. He has his plans mapped out. He wants your territory and he is going to get it at all costs.”
“Take over my pack?”. I repeated, my voice laced with incredulity.
“Yes ma'am. You have to believe me. I am telling the truth. Silvester plans on taking your pack and making it big. Silvester is really an ambitious man.
"He thinks he can just waltz in and take over what's mine? Does he really take me for a fool? How dare he belittle me by thinking I would fall if he attacked me unexpectedly? Does he think I don't know how he thinks and operates?
My anger boiled over, and I felt a fierce determination rising within me.
"His plans would forever remain futile. Not while I am still breathing will he conquer my pack. " I growled, my eyes flashing with fury.
I leaned closer to the thug, my voice dropping to a low, menacing whisper.
"You have to tell me everything. Every detail. Every plan. I want to know everything. What is going on in Silvester's head." I ordered, my voice bland.
The thug nodded frantically, saying out every piece of information he had. I listened intently, my mind racing with strategies and counter-plans.
Silvester had declared a war long ago but I had given him the grace to amend his way but now I was ready to fight. To retaliate. I wouldn't stop until I had crushed him. Crush his syndicate. Crush him until no one remembers he ever existed.
“Good job.” I patted the man's shoulder.
“Good job.” I added.
