Chapter 12 Twelve

Chapter 12 Twelve

Elara’s POV

Spies were ruthless. Cunny. Taking instructions without checking for risks and others alike.

Gosh!!

My mind rolled back to Luca. He was messing with me lately. He pissed the living daylight out of me. He was my greatest enemy and this was certain. If I found out that he had a hand in this, I would be forced to act. To retaliate. To protect my territory.

“Any confession from them so far? Have you been able to extract any information.” I queried, taking the stairs that led to the underground dungeon.

Throne hesitated to answer. I grinded my teeth, rage simmering on the surface.

"Any leads?" I snapped, my patience wearing thin. I tilted my head, shooting a quick glance at him.

Throne hesitated before responding, "Not yet, Boss. The spies are tough. But we'll get the truth out of them. Eventually.”

I glared at him, my anger simmering. "See that you do what you can do. See that you do your best. I want names. Their motives. Everything. Don't leave any stone unturned."

Throne nodded, determination etched on his face.

“I'll do everything in my power to make sure this

"See to it, Throne," I warned, my voice low and menacing.

"I want to see results. We can't compromise our safety even for the slightest. I do not want promises.”

“Get me the information I need. I need all hands on deck.” I warned as I reached the end of the stairs before descending on leveled ground.

Throne's determination turned to resolve, and he nodded curtly. "I'll get the job done, Boss. No matter what it takes.”

We finally reached the door to the dungeon. The throne pushed it open and I entered. The smell of decay and sweat hit me like a punch.

My eyes scanned the room. My gaze was locked unto the spies. They were bound with a chain. Their bound hands held high above their heads. The chains held their weight and I could see the pink hue it left around their wrist. Whip marks gushed with fresh blood. A testimony of the torture the had been through.

Their eyes were wide. Widened open with fear. I could sense their desperation. Their fright. Their wish to live.

I took a step forward, my heels clicking on the cold concrete floor. My gaze intensified like I wanted them to read their soul.

I slapped one of the spices gently across the face, my palm mingling with blood and sweat. My tone is mocking yet compulsive.
"Let's get down to business, shall we? I said, my voice cold and calculated.

“Who sent you?” I inquired, my voice cold and detached.

The spies exchanged glances between themselves. One of them smirked, his gaze taunting.

“You and your men are going to have to try harder.” He spat with conviction.

A sinister grin spread out across my lips in a moment and disappeared the same way it came.

“Oh!. We will have to try harder, you say?”. I asked, my voice a mix of indignation and surprise.

I cocked my head to the side, signalling on Throne. Throne picked up a bucket of icy cold water, emptying the head of the spy.

Before the spy could recover from the sudden fluid that sent a shock to his brain, Throne spun around, his shin meeting the jawline of the spy in a sharp kick.

A groan escaped the lips of the spy. Blood gushing out like it's a natural fountain. Anxiety flashed through the soy eyes and for a short while, his defiance disappeared. Overshadowed by fear. Doubt. Confusion.

The three spies looked at me, their eyes filled with regrets.

I smiled darkly, taking a step closer to them until my breath fanned their faces.

“Now you understand that I mean business. “I whispered into the ears of the one who received a cold bucket of water on his head.

“No one plays with me and leaves alive. You all have the nerves to come into my territory and spy for four bloody days.”

My fingers grabbed his bloody chin, forcing him to look at me. “Talk now or I will make you wish you died before seeing me this morning.” I threatened further, my voice dripping with venom.

“We are here on our own wish. No one sent us.” One of the spy, a man with an eye patch and a receding hairline.

I grabbed his jaw immediately with a quick reflex. I tightened my grip on his jaw, groans of pain filled the dungeon.

“You better speak up before it's late.”

His body shook with fear.

His lips pressed tight like he was thinking of lying again. I gave a sharp squeeze on his jaw, making him cry out. “Don’t test me,” I warned, my eyes burning into his soul.

I turned to Throne, our gaze clicking. “Bring the knife,” I ordered coldly.

Throne gave a slight nod, going to fetch the knife.

“We are here on our own. You have to believe us, ma'am. We just want a place to call home. We've been banished from our pack.” The shortest amongst them said, a sob slipping through his parted lips.

“You have to believe us.” The oldest added, exchanging a quick glance with the others.

I could tell they were lying.

I narrowed my eyes, feeling my anger boil.

“How dare you lie to my face?” I asked, my voice calm but deadly.

My fingers gripped the knife Throne just handed to me.

The rest of the spy seem to be defiance but the shortest one looks like he could shit in his pants any moment from now.

I walked slowly to the shortest spy. His body shivered, fear flickering in his eyes.

I pressed the knife to his chest. It tore through his shirt just enough to break his skin slightly.

“ This is your last warning,” I said sharply. “Tell me the truth, or your heart will be the first to drop to this dirty floor.”

The man swallowed hard, sweat from his face cascaded down, mixing with his blood. “Silvester sent us. We didn't want to do this but he promised us gold. Connection… I swear…” he confessed in fear.

My lips curved into a cold smile.

Fucking Silvester!!!
