Save You To Betray The Pack!
"Are you certain of this, Mia?" Scarlett looked down at the squeaking rat trapped inside a transparent box. She turned her gaze to Mia. "Are we absolutely certain we want to do this?"
"Scarlett, it was your idea. Besides, it is just a rat."
"It's a living animal," Scarlett explained.
"It was a living animal," Avery said. Everyone turned to look at her, shocked to see the rat dead in her hand. "What?"
"You killed it." Scarlett swallowed.
"We were planning on doing that before. Weren't we?" She placed the dead rat on the table. Avery adjusted her glove as she stared down at the rat. "If this works, Scarlett, everything will change. There will be no more sickness or death."
"However, what if it doesn't?" Cornelia asked.
"It will, Cornelia. We must believe." Avery reached for the red water and poured a small amount into a cup. "How do we go about doing this? Should I use it to bathe it or feed it?"
Scarlett flipped the book open. "It says here that we should drink."
"Alright." Avery moved her gaze to Cornelia. "Hold this for me. I'll raise the rat, and you'll feed it. Okay?"
"No way. Allow Mia or Scarlett to do it. You know how much I despise rats."
"Get out of the way, Cornelia." Mia said as she reached for the cup. She held it close to the rat's mouth and gently put it into its mouth. "Does that suffice?" She asked Avery.
"I don't know. Perhaps you should feed it more."
"It won't even drink it now that it's dead." Scarlett said.
"It can taste the water. Scarlett, the water is making its way into its mouth. That means something." Avery put the rat back into the box.
"It didn't work?" Cornelia asked.
"I suppose not," Mia replied. "This is completely messed up. We just slaughtered an innocent rat for no reason." Mia walked over to her bed and sat down. "It didn't work. This is so useless. Scarlett, what do we do now? Confess to mom that we know about her job?"
"We can't do that. Not yet. My life is even in jeopardy right now. If they figure out who I am, I'll be dead. I don't trust mother, Mia, so we'll have to keep this a secret for the time being."
"It's just that I hate it, Scarlett. I just wanted to live a normal life. A normal family. Not the ones who slaughter creatures who do not even haunt them."
"We share your sentiments, Mia." Cornelia said. "This morning, on my way to dinner, I couldn't be as free with my parents as I used to be. The more I looked at them, the more irritated I became. I wanted to ask so many questions, but I couldn't."
"Same here." Avery went up to them. "I got angry on my way to church because how could they go to church after killing so many creatures? Those creatures didn't ask to be like that, you know?" Avery sat down next to Scarlett as they all hugged.
"Did you hear what I heard?" Mia blinked open her eyes.
"Hear what?" Avery asked.
"The squeaking." She stepped away from them as her gaze was drawn to the box. "Scarlett. Guys. The rat is moving." Mia rose to her feet. When they saw the rat jumping around in the box, they all gasped.
"OMG. It worked." Avery screamed.
"It is alive." Cornelia dashed over to the box. "You are alive."
"I still can't believe it." Scarlett said. She began to laugh. "It worked, guys. It really worked." Their celebration stopped when they heard a knock on the door.
"Scarlett." They could hear Belly's voice. Scarlett instructed the girls to keep the rat, the book, and everything else used in the experiments. She approached the door and unlocked it.
"Belly," Scarlett said with a smile.
"Why is your room door locked?" Belly came in when Scarlett cleared the way for her. "Mia is also present. I didn't know you guys are like best friends now."
"What is it, Belly?"
"Mom called. I don't think she will be staying in England for a month."
"What exactly do you mean?" Scarlett asked.
"Scarlett, she'll be back in two days."
…
When the electric rod was used on Anton, his voice could be heard in a high scream. "Tell me where the Alpha is." Philip groaned angrily.
Anton began to laugh. "Trust me; no matter how much you torture me, you won't get a word out of my mouth. As much as I want the Alpha dead, I won't endanger the pack's life."
"He's not going to give in!" Philip activated the electronic rod once more and used it on him. Anton screamed in agony.
"You're going to kill him, Father." Augusta said. "If you kill him, we won't be able to find the Alpha or the pack."
"Do you have any other suggestions for getting the words out of his mouth?" Philip spoke as he set the rod down on the table. "Do you or do you not?"
Augusta smirked. "Father. Allow me to speak with him. Alone."
"Do what needs to be done." Philip said. She moved away from Philip and towards Anton. Augusta pressed her hand against Anton's jaw, lifting and tightening it. "Beta. I'll make it simple for you. Will you be willing to give your life for the Alpha and your pack?"
"No matter what you do, I will not reveal the pack house to you. Even if I did, no human could go there because it is magically sealed."
"Then you will take us there. Don't you think?"
"Ah! Augusta, you make me laugh. This is why I fancy you so much."
"You won't give in, will you?"
Anton shook his head. "You can't make me."
Augusta began to laugh maniacally. "What do you think?" She leaned in and seductively bit her lower lips. "I can make you do whatever I want, except when I have your precious sister with me." Anton's eyes widened. "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill her. I'll just use her to get what I want."
"Don't!" Anton became enraged.
"It's of no use. You can't mindlink her either because you're blocked. It appears that your sister would have to betray your pack to save you." Augusta laughed as she walked away.
"Don't! Don't! Noooooo!" Anton's yelling grew louder as the cave's gate closed.
