Killian’s POV
I didn’t want to insist on dropping Aurora off at her house because I already sensed how uneasy she was when I popped the question to her. I wonder why she acts the way she does towards me.
All my life, I have always had the total attention of women. Most of them will give anything to have me ask after them or even take a step further in engaging them in personal conversations. Not once have I had to deal with a tough lady like Aurora.
Could it be a result of her position or that is how she naturally is? The tougher she gets, the more interesting it becomes to stretch myself till I reach her. Whatever Alpha Simon’s grip on her is, I will break through it and get to her. I stroked my chin carefully and alighted from the car.
I heard some gushing sounds from the maids as soon as my feet touched the ground. ‘Fuck off! You aren’t even in my league,’ I thundered in my mind as I locked the car using the remote control in my hand. My car was in a mess, battered by dirt and almost losing its glory.
“Where’s Chris?” I asked one of the men who was taking shelter in the courtyard. Chris was one of the men who followed down to the secret part and planted a tracker on Alpha Mason’s van.
“He hasn’t returned yet, boss,” one of the men replied immediately, his hands by his side and his head shot up with readiness to receive the next command.
“Alright, here,” I handed the keys of my car to him, “Ensure it is properly taken care of, you know what that means?” I queried
“Yes, boss,” came the chorused reply. My men understood what I wanted from them and were ready to take on my command. That is the type of military lifestyle I liked. Authority. Order. Hierarchy.
As I made straight for my room, a car drove in. I turned to look and found Chris and his partner driving in. “Speak of the devil,” I mumbled beneath my breath as I continued to the room.
I didn’t need to be told that Alpha Simon wasn’t around, I knew it immediately after I stepped into the courtyard. I was happy he was away, at least, it eased the burden of having to stomach my rival’s unbearable presence. Without speaking to any of the maids or responding to their greetings, I entered my room.
Not locking the door behind me would later be my undoing. Taking off the clothes on my body, I soaked myself in the jacuzzi for a few minutes.
“Stop it! You are hurting me! I wouldn’t have you take away my kids anymore! They are not yours”, a figure began tugging at me, I couldn’t tell if it was a male or a female because the voice didn’t sound like any of the sexes. Suddenly, a battalion of armies clad in black came at me with laser guns in their hands. The first took a shot followed by the next and another and another”.
I jerked awake with widened eyes to find out I was still swaddling in a pool of water. I was still lying helplessly in the bathtub. With the little strength I could muster, I sat up and sluggishly reached out for the sponge as I vigorously lathered soap onto it in seconds. Sluggishly, I began to scrub my body, intermittently gritting my teeth as I winced in pain.
I didn’t know I had sustained a bruise on my knee till my soap lather seeped into the wound. Instantly, it felt like a thousand pins had just been plugged into my body.
“Arrrg!” I yelped and swallowed the next scream that sought to escape my oesophagus. Soon, I was done washing up, I dabbed my body dry and landed on the bed like a tree that had just been felled.
“Hello, sir! Hello sir,” a voice called out. I hissed slightly before sleepily turning my frame to face the person who stood over me. I looked at her lips first and saw the way her mouth moved sexily.
“Oh, Aurora, let me be!” I spat and slept back.
“Hello, sir!” the voice called again, “Sir, do I get your lunch up to you?” the voice asked
I turned reluctantly and looked at the person whom I thought had the voice, “Aurora?” I asked with shock. Aurora had never stepped into my room since I arrived at the pack, let alone offered to bring lunch to me. It was strange.
“Aurora!” I sat up immediately on the bed and called out again.
“No, you are mistaken, sir. I am but Mia, one of the maids,” she countered calmly but fearsomely.
I rubbed my eyes with both hands as though to clean off something that had fallen into my eyes. I looked intently at the face that stood in my front.
It wasn’t Aurora this time, but one of the maids that offered services in the courtyard. Realizing the misconception that had just happened, I switched moods and feigned annoyance immediately.
“The hell are you doing in my room?” I thundered fiercely, my voice reverberating all over the walls of the room. The maid shuddered fearfully and took feeble steps back, her hand crossed behind her back and her head facing the floor.
“I…I…I just thought to remind you of---”
“Who asked for such reminders? Huh? Now, get out!” I ordered. The tone of my voice reduced measurably.
“I’m sorry, sir,” she said and made for the door with her head bowed slightly.
“You had better be!” I scoffed, reaching for my shirt which I left hanging on the headboard. Of course, such a show was needed to gain back my respect before her after what she had heard me spew out.
‘This is getting serious. Why does the face of this woman keep tormenting me,’ I thought as I moved down the stairs. Alpha Simon was seated in the dining already. It seemed like he was waiting for me to come before he began to feast.
