Aurora’s POV

‘How was he able to hear my conversation with Alpha Simon? What was all those talk about who I was and all that shit? Is he probing me to fish out facts against me?’ I allowed my thoughts to run wild with questions and more questions.

What could he be playing at? I desperately wanted to get to the bottom of this as much as he wanted to have all of me in his palms. But was seriously joking when he said alpha, Samuel? I guess I shouldn’t allow the thought of that son of a bitch to bother me no more.

The day had broken and we could see people going about their day-to-day activities. I was still clad in my camouflage apparel. It was when the country breeze began to kiss my face that I realized that my eyes had been starved of sleep. At least, we still had three miles to cover before we got to the palace.

That would be enough time to cheat my weak flesh and be re-energized, I thought. I wound the front seat down and helped myself.

A few hours later, I was awoken by the husky voice of Alpha Killian. “Do I take you straight to your house or drop you off at the palace so you find your way home?” he asked, reducing the speed of the car.

Tactically, I threw the question in my mind over and again before giving a reply. “Drop me at the palace,” I chose. I didn’t want him to know where I stayed in the pack, not like he wouldn’t later find out, but I wouldn’t want it to be too soon.

Alighting from the car, I didn’t bother walking into the palace since I knew that Alpha Simon was still at my place or so I thought. I began the walk home. It wasn’t a far distance neither was it a close one.

Alpha Simon once asked me to move closer to the palace but I declined for reasons I know best. One of which is unwarranted jealousy and hatred from the females who envied him. I knew that where envy abounded, numerous atrocities accompanied it.

I got to the house and it was unusually quiet and calm. On a normal day, there would have been some haggles between the kids. A little cheer here, a little tantrum there but none of it was in the air.

Stepping into the house further confirmed my assumptions. There was no sight of the nanny, let alone the kids. I recalled speaking on the phone with Alpha Simon in the early hours of the morning. He spoke of one of the kids intermittently convulsing and throwing up but then he assured me not to panic that he has it under control.

Of course, I didn’t question him. He has always proven to love my kids so much right from the day I stepped foot in his pack and so far, he had given me no reason to doubt his goodness towards myself and the kids.

“Could it have resulted in him going to the hospital?” I soliloquized, pacing around with my hands akimbo. “Hello, Sir,” I spoke formally yet frantically into the phone. “Where are you? Are the kids with you there?” I paused and waited for a reply.

“You do not need to address me as sir, Aurora. I have told you this time and again. The kids are fine, Jasmine will be discharged in the next two hours, we are just waiting for the doctor’s examination of her internals,” he responded softly.

“Two hours? That’s a long time. I’m coming right away,” I said with concern in my voice. “You don’t need to, Aurora, I’ll bring the kids home with me,” he asserted. It wasn’t like I didn’t want to take him by his words that the kids were fine with him, I just couldn’t bear another minute without my kids around me.

“You’ve been through a lot already, I wouldn’t want you to go through another round of stress. Just relax and find yourself something to eat,” he encouraged.

At this point, I knew he wasn’t talking to me from his Alpha position but from his lover-boy position of which I had severally declined yet he hadn’t relented one bit.

“When it comes to my kids, it is not stress. Will be there in a couple of minutes.” I insisted firmly.

“In that case, tell one of my drivers to drive you down,” he offered. He just knows how to take care of me and I am grateful for an Alpha like him in the pack not like Alpha Killian who always acted like the whole world revolved around him.

I smiled as I accepted the offer and dropped the call. I dashed to the restroom to have a thorough wash. As I scrubbed my body, I saw the bruises from the wounds I had sustained in the fight with one of Alpha Mason’s men. I brushed it delicately and did some massaging where necessary.

Dialling the number of Alpha Killian’s second driver, I threw on my waistcoat, gulped in a glass of water and dashed out of the house as soon as I heard the beep of his horn in front of the house.

As we drove, we passed by one of Alpha Simon’s men in his full regalia having a word with Tasha. I saw nothing wrong with that so I didn’t give it much thought.

Arriving at the hospital, Alpha Simon was just walking out of the hospital with the kids. “Mummy, Mummy!” Jasmine and Jake rush towards me with excitement. I scooped them into my arms, patting each of them on the head as I rose to my feet.

“Thank you, Alpha Simon,” I demonstrated with my hands, my eyes pregnant with gratitude.

“Not again, Aurora,” he said, feigning annoyance.
“You are my Alpha, and that shall you be to me in all the sense of it. I will also address with the respect an Alpha of your kind deserves,” I emphasized again.

He looked at me fiercely and nodded his head in the direction of my nanny whose hand was clipped into that of Austin’s.
