Chapter 96 LETTING THE HUNGER FEED

Chapter 96 LETTING THE HUNGER FEED
Diego’s POV

When I'd walked into Kali's room a little over a while ago, believe me when I said I had no idea what the hell was going to happen. I didn't even know what had spurred me to go to her room in the first place. It was stupid , but no matter what happened, I was going to blame my unsupervised wandering on the alcohol.

If there was one thing I wasn't going to do though, it would be to let the alcohol take the credit for finally kissing Kali. I was ready to defend that till I died that I'd kissed her, and I didn't regret it. Not one bit.

A small moan was all it took to pull me back to the present, and the moment I realized it had come from Kali, I felt my cock harden underneath my pants.

Her lips were still parted beneath mine, soft, pliant, tasting of surrender and defiance all at once. My self control was nothing short of a blade balanced on its edge, and with every second, it tipped further into madness. I was losing everything I held dear to me, risking it all, and in this moment, I really didn't mind falling over the edge.

I kissed her deeper, letting the hunger I’d fought for so long surge through. My wolf prowled viciously beneath my skin, demanding more, demanding everything, demanding her. I had no idea how long he'd been holding on, and just waiting for this moment, and now that he'd gotten the chance, he definitely didn't want to let go.

Her scent, gods, her scent, was wildfire in my lungs. It wafted through my nostrils and believe me when I said it did unimaginable things to me.

Somehow, it made her all the more sexy. Without wasting so much as a breath, I dragged my mouth across her jaw, down to her throat, and plastering kisses over the delicate line of her skin. I wished I could mark her, claim her, and erase every doubt she had about where she belonged. She trembled, but she didn’t push me away, and hat single act nearly undid me.

I pressed her harder into the wall, my hand palming her breast through her dress, and her soft gasp was the sweetest damn sound I’d ever heard. My wolf snarled in approval, heat spiraling through me so fiercely I didn’t know if I was kissing her or devouring her.

Then, just when it was getting good, three knocks came from her front door.

It was loud and infuriatingly so. It hated how sharp and insistent it was and even though my jaw clenched. I didn’t stop. My mouth moved back to hers, stealing another kiss, harder, hungrier, as though daring whoever it was to keep knocking.

“Diego.” She let out something in between a moan and a groan. It was obvious she didn't want to stop, but the moral part of her just couldn't stomach the thought of continuing with someone on the other side of the door. “Someone's…”

“Shush.” I pressed another kiss to her lips, silencing her almost instantly. Like that wasn't enough, I dragged her bottom lips through my teeth, and the little whisper she let out was nothing short of whisper to my ears. “they'll go away.”

But whoever it was, didn't. In fact, the knocks grew louder, and all it did was increase the frustration gnawing at my sides.

I growled against her lips, tearing myself away just enough to snarl toward the door.

“Leave.” I huffed. “now.”

But the door creaked open anyway, and Leo’s voice cut through the haze like cold water.

“Diego. We need to talk.” Leo had a habit of showing up when I didn't need him, but never in a million years did I think it would get to this level. Anger and irritation flared at my sides, and even if I got the chance to strangle him, I doubted it would suffice.  “We need to talk now. It's s urgent and….”

My head snapped around, eyes blazing. The bastard had the audacity to look unfazed, though his gaze flicked once toward Kali before locking back on me.

For a heartbeat, I nearly told him to get the hell out. My wolf wanted to throw him against the wall and finish what I’d started with Kali. My hand was still splayed over her waist, her warmth bleeding through me, keeping me tethered to the edge of reason.

Kali’s wide eyes met mine, her lips swollen from my kisses, her breath shallow. I almost kissed her again, just to stake the claim Leo had interrupted.

“Alpha.” Leo’s tone sharpened. “This cannot wait.”

Leo was many things, but stupid and inconsiderate wasn't on the list. I knew him well enough to know that he wouldn't have willingly bothered me, if it wasn't as urgent as he claimed.

As the weight of the truth sat heavy on my shoulders, I cursed under my breath, dragging myself back from the door.

Slowly and, painfully, I let my hand fall away from her, though the heat of her body clung to me like a brand.

“Get out,” I told Leo, voice rough, not quite human. “Just leave.”

“Not without you.”

I wanted to kill him. I wanted him gone, but something in his eyes, uneasy and urgent, told me this wasn’t a matter I could ignore. With a final glance at Kali, I straightened, pulling every ounce of Alpha control back into place.

She looked shaken, but not repulsed. No. In fact, she looked like she'd enjoyed it. Her wolf was there in her eyes too, restless, as undone as mine, and all it did was make my chest tighten.

“We’re not done.” I leaned close, so close only she could hear, my lips brushing the shell of her ear as I whispered. “Not with this, not with anything.”

Her breath hitched, and I forced myself to turn, striding past Leo before I gave in to the reckless urge to take her right there against the wall.

“For your sake, Leo.” My voice was a dangerous growl. “I really hope whatever issue you have up your sleeve is worth it.”

But as I followed him out, one thing was clear, zhe hadn’t lied to save herself. She’d chosen the truth, even knowing it condemned her. And that made me more attracted to me than any enemy at the borders.
