Chapter 60 60

Chapter 60 60
Hannah

By the time we arrived at Icebergs, it was after 11. Serena had insisted that we have dinner first, stating that drinking on an empty stomach will never end well. Really, I just think she wanted an excuse to start drinking before we got to the bar because she was the one ordering the potent cocktails.
Icebergs was every bit a dive bar as I imagined it would be, with a dart board surrounded by loud, obnoxious men, a line up to get to the toilet, a jukebox that didn’t play any song that came out after 1997 and a sticky dance floor that probably had never been cleaned. The one thing it did have going for it was that it was a short walk from the pack land, which meant that it was a hot spot for wolves but also had its fair share of humans too.
We were lucky to snag a table but it wasn’t too far from the drunken men who were playing darts like they were competing in the Olympics. Each time one of them pegged a dart at the board the rest of them had to swig their beers for the number of seconds that the dart had landed on.
“Drink up boys, that’s a 20.” One of them yelled out, commanding his buddies to down their drinks as he timed them on his phone. “Chug, chug, chug.”
“When you suggested that I come here to hook up with a man did you really mean one of them?” I ask Serena, screwing my face up at just the thought. “I could throw better than what they could too.”
“You should get up there and put them to shame,” Kayla suggests, tapping away on her phone to someone.
“Do it Hannah, show them up.” Serena joins in, nudging me until I stand up.
“Alright, but I am not making out with any of them.” I boldly state, confident that it will not happen.
As I approach the boys I get the strongest whiff of rain and my heart begins to race, knowing that he’s here. He has to know I’m here too, he would have picked up my scent. Did he follow us here? Did Serena or Kayla plan this? I know Kayla played matchmaker for Tom and Emma but surely she wouldn’t force me into a situation with Jake when I’ve made it abundantly clear how angry I am at him.
I scan the room in front of me, not finding him, which can only mean that he’s somewhere behind me. I want to turn around, just to confirm that I am picking up his scent but if I do then I hand him all the power. He already has too much and I’ll be damned if I allow him to take more from me.
“Hey, boys.” I greet the group of three men who look to be around my age. They turn in unison and not one of them looks me in the eye, all three are drawn to my nipples. I curse Serena for making me go braless but at the same time, I hope that Jake saw them gawking at my goods.
“Hey, gorgeous.” One of the three takes the lead and wraps an arm around my shoulders. “I don’t remember ordering wet pussy from the bar but I guess you knew I wanted it.”
It takes everything in me not to throw this guy at the dart board for being so disgusting and vile. I thought for sure that his friends would at least step in and tell him how gross that is but instead, they just laugh, obviously no better than he is.
“Actually, I just came over here to ask if you’d let me play?” I put on my sweetest voice to try and win them over because something tells me that these boys wouldn’t take too well to being intimidated or shown up by a woman.
“Oh baby, you can come home with me and we can play all night.” Another one offers, earning him a round of cheering. “I bet you love taking it up the arse.”
“I bet you love getting throat punched,” I mumble while keeping a smile on my face.
“What?” The second guy asks, obviously not hearing me over the loud music.
“I said, I want to play darts.” I lie and the awkward one out of the bunch hands me a dart.
“Do you know how to throw a dart, baby?” The first guy asks me, trying to shadow me while taking the opportunity to peer down my dress. Fucking creep.
“I can throw,” I tell him, lowering my voice and staring him down. He steps to the side of me and throws up his hands.
I line the dart up perfectly, pull my hand back and send it flying through the air, watching it land smack bang in the middle of the board.
“Bullseye.” I shriek, so excited by my win that I turn around to see the boys’ faces but instead my eyes instantly find Jake, sitting with Hazel at the bar. He’s watching me, like a predator, stalking its prey from afar but all I can focus on is that he’s here with her.
It’s as if my heart has been ripped from my chest, kicked around and stomped on. I’ve spent the week in miserable hell and here he is on a date. He brought her here on purpose, to rub it in my face that he can easily move on from me.
I could allow this to get to me, to show him that he’s won when I fall apart or I could beat him at his own sick, twisted game.
“Let’s dance.” I demand, grabbing one of the men at random and dragging him onto the dance floor.
I turn my back on where Jake is sitting and latch onto the man before me, throwing my arms around his neck so tightly that he can’t run off. He presses himself against me and I almost vomit when I feel his bulge sticking into me. Well at least I know he’s attracted to me, so it should be easy to manipulate him into going along with my plan.
I look up at him, his eyes bloodshot and glassy, his mouth slightly opened as he gazes upon me and slowly he begins to bring his head down. I anticipate his lips touching mine, the sheer thought makes me want to heave but I have to do this.
His lips edge in closer and I am hit with the smell of his horrid breath, it is more than enough to make me pull back.
“I can’t do this.” I tell him, releasing him from my vice grip.
“What the fuck? Kiss me you dumb bitch.” He demands but he quickly regrets it when punch him in the stomach. He keels over and vomits all over the dance floor. His friends come rushing to the area, not to help him up but to laugh as he tries to yell at me between heaves.
“I guess it was all that beer.” I tell the other two, turning and leaving them to deal with their friend.
I scan the room, searching for Jake, unable to smell his sweet scent of rain but his chair is now empty, as well as the one Hazel was sitting in. He left with her.
