CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE
ETHAN’S POV
It has been three days since Zaria confessed her feelings, since she chose me, and she has refused to see me.
I have been at her palace for days, but I always get told that she is not in a good mood to see me, probably she is rethinking her decision.
I had been clueless about what had been going on with her, she hadn't even been to school for the past three days.
I stood in front of the palace, not ready to hear any of their nonsense, I must see Zaria today.
The guard had locked me out, but I kept banging on the gate.
“I am not leaving until I see Zaria!” I yelled banging on the gate.
I had a feeling that they were hiding something from me, and only Zaria would make those feelings go away.
The gate flung open and the guard who dismissed me earlier, glared at me.
The guard was twice my size, he stared at me with intimidating eyes but I wasn't intimidated, not by his size nor his eyes.
“I want to see Zaria!” I snapped at him.
“I told you, she doesn't want to see you!” he growled at me, trying to lock the gate against my face, but I blocked it with my foot.
“She is just his Luna for a year, while she belongs to me forever. If you don't let me see her now, you will regret it!” I threatened him, even when I won't be able to act on my threat.
The guard burst into a round of laughter, holding his stomach for support, I gulped hard.
I peeped through the little opening my foot provided, trying to find any glimpse of Zaria, to no avail.
Just at that moment, I saw her well-trusted maid, Elara, at the corner, speaking to another maid.
“Elara!” I yelled, trying to run to her, but the guard pushed me off.
Fuck! I hoped she heard her name, I needed to speak with her.
“Let him in” her elderly voice came through for me.
I heaved a sigh of relief, finally, I would get to see Zaria, and we would figure out a way to get rid of Max’s mark.
“He is here to see the Luna, and you know what that means,” the guard objected. “The villagers can't know what's going on within the palace, and definitely not a person from crescent pack”
The guard looked at me with disgust, before turning to Elara.
I felt like trash under his stares although I wore my regular white shirt and blue pants.
“I don't want to know what's going on in the palace” I said, ignoring his stares. “I just want to see Zaria but he won't let me”
Elara looked at the guard again. “Burke let him in, and that's an order from the Alpha”
With a frown, he pushed the gate open and I entered hurriedly.
“Thank you” I mouthed to Elara and she gave a slight nod of her head.
“Can I see Zaria?” I asked.
Elara turned to me, her eyes welled up with tears, making me wonder what I had said wrong.
“I'm… sorry, did I say something wrong?” I stuttered.
“No” she huffed, wiping the tears that fell from her eyes helplessly. “But you can't see Zaria”
“Why?” I asked, getting worried.
I have heard the rumors of the attack going on in Moonshadow Palace, but I felt it was all gossip.
Elara's facial expression says otherwise, making me worried.
I stopped, and turned Elara to my direction, to look at me.
“You need to tell me if something is wrong with Zaria, please” I begged.
Elara burst into tears, and I took her into my arms and hugged her tightly, even if my heart was heavy.
“Zaria has been kidnapped” she dropped me a bombshell. “And we don't know if she is dead”
I withdrew from the hug immediately, with my eyes searching hers.
“Zaria can't be kidnapped in the palace, there are guards at every inch of the palace, what do you mean by she was kidnapped” I yelled, with my blood boiling.
“We found she was missing, when we searched the palace for her, we saw a letter for the Alpha and her blood scattered at the secluded corridor” she sobbed.
My heart rate has already dropped, and I fell to the ground, trying to put myself together, but I couldn't.
Zaria is my world, and hearing she has been kidnapped, only means that I am homeless.
“What… Did she do?” I stuttered, and Elara shrugged.
“They are using her to get back at the Alpha for taking someone that belongs to them” She cried.
I would fucking kill Max if anything happens to her! He was supposed to protect her but he rather used her as bait.
I looked up, with tears blurring my vision.
Max and his beta walked out the door, I wiped my tears to be certain, and I fucking was.
With a loud groan, I ran to Max, and threw a punch at his face, making him stumble to the floor.
“You were supposed to protect her!” I yelled, as his guards drew their swords and pointed them at me.
Max snapped his fingers, and the guards laid their weapons down.
He wipes the blood from the corner of his lips, Raymond tried to help him up, but he pushed Raymond away.
“I got this” I sneered at Raymond getting to his feet. He was just a proud fucking prick.
“I tried to protect her, the attack came from the palace and we are on it” He growled at me. “You can leave now”
“Leave?” I repeated with a scoff. “She finally chose me over you, she finally wanted to be with me, but you couldn't just have it” I yelled, pushing him against the wall.
“This is not about us, you scumbag” he yelled, pushing me back. “It's about the girl we love,”
He was right, I inhaled deeply, “Do you have a lead”
“Yes, we just got one” he replied walking off.
“What is that?” Elara chimed in, and we all turned to her in surprise.
Elara looked rather scared, and I felt something was off with her. I need to look into her. She seemed suspicious.
