Chapter 42 CHAPTER FORTY-TWO
CHAPTER FORTY-TWO
MAX’S POV
I sat at my office desk, trying to figure out a way to get the mastermind of my mother’s murderers, probably, he might be the mastermind of my sister’s death as well.
I have reviewed all the histories, and our enemies with whom we have made peace, and none seem suspicious, except for the tyrant Alpha, who is no longer a suspect.
“Fuckkk!” I groaned, smacking another dusty history book to the floor, allowing the dust to choke Raymond and me.
“Fucking hell, you need to relax” he snapped at me, coughing harshly.
I rolled my eyes at him, before relaxing my back on the chair, exhausted.
“Was my mother’s killer lying?” I asked, and Raymond rolled his eyes back.
“Why would a man lie at the brink of death?” He asked, making me realize how stupid I sounded. “He was telling the truth, but I think the tyrant Alpha made a deal with the mastermind of this murder”.
I sat up, still staring at Raymond. “Why would you even think that?” I crooked my eyebrows.
“Well, the mastermind must be a smart one, he must have convinced the tyrant Alpha of bloodmoon about something, allowing the Tyrant Alpha to send in spies, so…”
“So we would think these attacks are from bloodmoon” I completed his statement and he nodded in agreement.
How could we be so fucking stupid and fall for this lame trick, the mastermind must be a smart one.
“Do you think the mastermind is from Crescent Pack?” I asked and he shook his head.
“The mastermind is within the palace, your mother’s tea was poisoned, and only the maids make her tea” he shrugged, opening another history book.
Our maids are trusted; the palace does not just employ maids without a thorough assessment of them.
I began to stroke my jaw, trying to wrap my head around why any maid would want my mother dead, she was never hostile to them.
I looked up at Raymond again, who was already engrossed in the history book he was reading.
The only new members of the palace are Zaria and Gwen, but they aren’t capable of murder. Gwen might have wanted Zaria dead, but not my mother.
“Do you think Zaria or Gwen had a hand in my mother’s death?” I asked Raymond, trying to be sure I wasn’t too sentimental with them. He just shrugged.
“They have no reason to kill your mother, think about it” He replied to my question. “I'd better start heading home, it’s already past noon”
He said, standing to his feet, he grabbed his coat that hung around the chair he sat in and slipped it on.
“Make sure to keep your eyes open,” he warned. “The palace isn't safe, you aren’t either”
He turned toward the door, and the door opened immediately.
Elara rushed in breathing heavily, her wrinkled face was mixed with tears and washed makeup, making my heart race.
“What the fuck is this, Elara?” I asked, as my panic rate shot up.
She was trying to catch her breath, Raymond led her to an empty chair, which she collapsed on immediately.
“What happened Elara?” Raymond asked, squatting in front of her.
“It…it’s the Luna” she stuttered, before bursting into tears.
My chest felt heavy, as I did not to hear what she was going to say next, it definitely didn’t seem good.
I clenched my jaw hard, “What happened, Elara?”
Elara opened her mouth to speak, but she burst into another round of tears. I have never seen her cry this hard, which increased my fear.
She took Zaria as a daughter, they were pretty close. If she was crying this way, I wondered what happened to Zaria.
“You need to speak!” I growled, losing my patience.
Raymond turned to glare at me. “You don’t have to be rude about it, she is going through enough!” Then to Elara, he spoke softly, “You need to take a deep breath and tell us all that happened, so we can help you”
Elara took a deep breath, trying to hold back her sobs, but she was failing terribly, testing my patience.
“Fuckk!” I groaned.
“I went to check for the Luna in her room, but she wasn’t there,” she said, wiping the tears off my face, using the back of her palm.
“She is probably in the fucking pool or damn garden” I sneered, getting relieved.
“That’s what I thought too,” she scoffed. “Until I saw the blood at the…” she burst into another round of tears.
My heart skipped a beat hearing the word ‘blood’, I hoped it wasn’t what I was thinking, I hoped my mother’s mysterious killer hadn’t killed her.
“Elara you can’t keep breaking into sobs at every minute you get” I sneered at her, and Raymond nodded in agreement.
“We need the full information to get into action” He said, patting Elara’s back softly.
“I saw blood in the secluded corridor when I was searching for her” She cried. “She is nowhere to be found”
Shit!, the air in my lungs has been tempered with, I tried to inhale but the air seemed too dry, making me choke, I made my hand into a fist, wishing I could punch anything.
If anything happens to Zaria, I won’t be able to forgive myself.
“Are you saying the Luna has been kidnapped or killed?” Raymond asked, and I gulped hard waiting for her reply.
“We didn’t find a body, Your grace,” she sniffed. “I only saw blood in the secluded corridor”.
I didn’t know if that was supposed to be a relief, but I felt relieved that she hadn’t been confirmed dead.
I turned to Raymond. “Bring all the guards, warriors, we need to go in search for Zaria”
“How?” Raymond asked, confused.
I didn’t have an answer to his question, but I am not going to sit here and allow them to kill Zaria.
“I saw a letter at the corner of the corridor,” She said, handing me the letter.
My name. ‘Max Blackwood’ was boldly written on it.
Raymond stood to his feet and stared at me as I ripped it open.
It read;
“I know what’s behind those doors, and she would soon, before she dies I would let her know your little secret”
I squeezed the letter into a ball and threw it into the trash can.
They are coming for me, using Zaria, if they hurt a hair on her head, I would kill them.
