Chapter 41 CHAPTER FORTY-ONE
CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

ZARIA’S POV

I walked out of the room, angrily, allowing Max to trail behind me as I took quick steps.

The mark he gave me, had made me unable to kiss Ethan, ruining my love life, while he goes around kissing other women—Fucking asshole.

Ethan and I decided to take things slowly, till we figure out a way to get rid of Max’s fucking mark.

I don't know if I was angry about the mark or angry seeing him all cuddled up with Gwen, all I knew was that my blood boiled.

“Zaria wait!” he yelled, walking behind me closely. “Can we fucking talk”

I ignored him, trying to increase my pace.

“Zaria, fucking talk to me” he said, although, it sounded more like an order.

“What?” I snapped spinning around.

“Its not what you think” he shrugged, pushing his hair back.

“It's never what I think, just go and be with her, she is supposed to be your Luna after all” I huffed, turning away from him and heading to the garden.

I wished he wouldn't follow me, it seemed like wishes aren't always on my side, he followed me as I walked.

He ran a little, so we could be walking side by side. “I'm sorry about what happened at my mother’s palace, I was only protecting you”

Why the fuck does he have to explain right now? When things are going well between Ethan and me. It is barely twenty-four hours of reconciling with Ethan, and he wants to destroy it.

I glared at him and imagined punching his stupid handsome face.

“I don't want to hear it, Max!” I rolled my eyes. “Just go away.”

“That's the problem!” he growled, gulping hard.

“What?” I asked, confused.

Soon we were in the garden, just staring into space.

“I can't just go away, without wanting you by my side, no matter how hard I try,” he confessed.

Max is a fucking unstable emotional bastard, and I'm not ready to allow him to affect me emotionally, not anymore.

“You pushed me away!” I growled, hitting him hard in the chest.

I recalled how humiliatingly he treated me, and my anger increased, or rather doubled.

He stood in front of me, with his face in agony, it looked like he was dying inside, and damn me for feeling his pain and wanting to ease it.

It seemed like no matter how badly he treats me, I would keep running to him, and I hate it.

“I have already promised my forever to Ethan” I dropped the bombshell, trying to avoid his stares.

“That was fucking quick” He scoffed, with pain laced in his voice.

“You can't keep pushing me away and wanting me to still stay around for you” I sneered at him. “I'm done being that girl.

“I am trying to protect you” his face fell. “If they find out how strongly I feel for you, they would use you against me, You are my weak point, Zaria”

I gulped hard upon hearing that, I thought his attitude was due to his mother’s death. Why does he have to be this complicated?

“It is too late Max” I whispered, before walking away.

My heart felt heavy as I walked away from him, I felt empty, even if Ethan and I were on good terms.

“Fuck, Zaria!” I groaned. “Think straight, Max is emotionally unstable”

I needed to talk to someone, and the only person who came to me was Elara.

I walked to her room, hoping she wasn't busy. I needed to lift this load off my chest. Having mixed feelings for Max and Ethan is too much for me.

I got to her room and heard her screaming at someone.

“You were supposed to kill her at Crescent pack!” Elara yelled, and my mouth fell open.

Who could she be talking about? I never knew Elara had blood on her hands, women hardly have their hands tainted in blood.

“She is more important alive than dead” A feminine familiar voice said.

I have heard that voice, but I couldn't recall who it was.

“She is making him soft!” Elara yelled, and the sound of a glass smashing against the wall followed.

Elara is the cool-headed maid I have ever come across, she never breaks things when she is angry, and she was never angry.

“Just do your part, when we need to kill Zaria Adams we would know, right now she is more advantageous to us than disadvantage” the feminine voice said, and I gasped.

I covered my mouth tightly, trying not to scream. Elara wants me dead? What have I done to deserve death?

Elara and I are cool, why would she want to be dead?

“That's the same thing you said about Max’s mother, making her live longer than I wanted” Elara sneered at the woman.

My grip on the door knob now tightened, as I fell to the ground slowly, my heartbeat became slower, making me unable to catch my breath.

The enemy we are all looking for is right under our roof, being nice to us. Max needs to hear about this.

“Who is next?” The mysterious lady asked, and Elara scoffed.

“Ethan…”

“Someone is listening to our conversation!” the mysterious lady said, cutting Elara short.

Ethan was their next target, Fuck! He needs to know. I can't bear the thought of losing him.

I turned to leave discreetly, when the door pushed open, there the treacherous bitch was, grinning at me.

“You piece of shit!” I spat out, “I fucking trusted you”

Elara laughed loudly, before turning her attention to me.

“You are just a pawn in this game” she said, choking I'm her laughter. “You are the least of my problems”

“If I am the least of your problems, then why are you going after Ethan?” I yelled, she stared at me, faking ignorance.

“You were truly listening” she laughed

“I would make sure you pay, your atrocities would go unpunished” I threatened, glaring at her.

“You won't live long enough to do that” She huffed.

I opened my mouth to counter what she said, when I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head.

Slowly, everything went blank.
